Tips and Trends

New York Yankees at Minnesota Twins [ESPN | 7:10 PM ET]

Yankees (-150, O/U 9.5): Andy Pettitte has been extremely streaky in 2008 but luckily for the Yankees, he's hot right now. Pettitte won his first three starts of the season, lost four of his next five, and is back on a two-game winning streak. In his last 12.2 innings pitched, Pettitte has 12 strikeouts and allowed just four runs. Pettitte has been strong on the road, where he's obtained four of his five wins this season to go along with a respectable 3.72 ERA.

Yankees are 8-3 in their last 11 games overall.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 7 (OVER - Total Play of the Day)

Twins: Livan Hernandez started the year off strong but he's been blasted in his last three outings. In his last 18.2 innings pitched, Hernandez has given up 31 hits and 17 runs. The Twins have won seven of Hernandez's 10 starts overall but are just 1-2 in his last three appearances. Things don't look like they will get any better for Hernandez tonight with the Yankees in town. He's 0-3 in his career versus New York with a 6.08 ERA.

Twins are 6-2 in their last 8 Monday games.
The OVER is 8-1 in Hernandez' last 9 starts overall.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 5

Arizona Diamondbacks at Milwaukee Brewers [8:05 PM ET]

Diamondbacks: Since returning to the mound following cancer treatment, Doug Davis has one tremendous start under his belt and one awful outing. In his last start against the Giants, Davis was hit pretty hard, giving up six runs over five innings of work. Davis has actually been much better on the road than at home this season. In two starts away from Bank One Ballpark, Davis has a 2.53 ERA, compared to 6.55 at home. Davis is having a problem with walks this season, putting 13 batters on base in 21.2 innings pitched.

Diamondbacks are 2-8 in their last 10 road games.
Diamondbacks are 4-10 in the last 14 meetings at Milwaukee.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 3

Brewers (-130, O/U 9): Jeff Suppan has been night and day this season, depending on where he pitches. On the road, Suppan has an ERA of 6.27. But at home Suppan's ERA drops all the way down to an unhittable 0.93. Luckily for Suppan and the Brewers, they are playing at home in Miller Park tonight. Suppan was masterful in his last outing at home against the Braves, giving up just four hits and no runs in eight innings of work. Not surprisingly, three of Suppan's four starts at Miller Park have easily gone UNDER the total.

Brewers are 7-1 in Suppan's last 8 home starts.
The UNDER is 8-3-1 in Milwaukee's last 12 Monday games.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 6 (Side Play of the Day)

Los Angeles Angels at Seattle Mariners [10:10 PM ET]

Angels (-135, O/U 8.5): Ervin Santana has fixed the road woes that plagued him a year ago, going 4-1 with a 3.83 ERA away from home so far this season. That's the good news. The bad news is Santana's last two starts on the road have been has worst, giving up nine runs in 11.2 innings of work. In his first six starts, Santana didn't give up more than three runs in any one outing. However, in his last four appearances, he's allowed four runs or more three times.

The UNDER is 13-3-1 in LA's last 17 road games.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 5

Mariners: After an awful start to the season, Jarrod Washburn was briefly moved to the bullpen before returning to the starting rotation last week against the Yankees. Even though the Mariners lost, Washburn pitched one of his best games of the season, allowing just two runs over six innings. The over has been a wise investment with Washburn on the mound lately. The last five games he's started have all gone OVER the total.

Mariners are 1-9 in their last 10 games as an underdog.
The OVER is 8-2 in Seattle's last 10 games as an underdog.

Key Injuries - NONE

PROJECTED SCORE: 4
