3 Types of Pitchers

Power Pitcher
Power pitching - fastballs, hard sliders, splitters.
High Power gives more strikeouts and makes it harder
for the batters to get a hit, but has a tendency to give up the long ball.
Power pitchers tend to give up more fly ball outs than ground ball outs

Power Pitchers Perform Best
In a Physically High Cycle

Royals Luke Hochevar
main pitch is a 91-93 MPH sinker

which induces plenty of ground ball outs when it's on.
He can dial up the 4-seam fastball to 97 MPH when he needs it.
Luke's out pitch before the 2007 was his plus slider,
which he throws in the mid 80's,
but his curveball really emerged as his "go to pitch"
which he throws in the 75-80 range.

Physically High Cycle
You can Throw a Fast Ball all Game

Physically Low Cycle
Control Issues

Royals Luke Hochevar Performance Level Today
