MLB World Series Game 3: Giants vs. Rangers Picks
by Drew Sharper
The Texas Rangers are in dire need of a win on Saturday when they host the San Francisco Giants in Game 3 of the World Series.
The Giants have stormed out to a 2-0 lead in the series thanks to a 9-0 win in Game 2 at home. San Francisco got the win thanks to Matt Cain, who pitched 7.2 scoreless innings.
Here are some trends to consider and my pick for Game 3 of the World Series:
San Francisco Giants vs. Texas Rangers, 6:55PM ET
The Giants have now won five straight games over the Rangers and pitchers Jonathan Sanchez and Colby Lewis have never faced their opposing teams on the mound.
Trends still favor the Giants in this game as the Rangers are just 1-4 in their last 5 games as a favorite and 2-8 in Lewis’ last 10 starts after the Rangers allowed five runs or more in their previous game.
The Giants are 6-0 in Sanchez’ last six starts in Game 3 of a series and 10-3 in his last 13 road starts.
The Giants have had the better hitting and the better pitching in this series and have established they may just be the better team. I like the pitching matchup for San Francisco despite the hostile crowd in Texas.
