San Diego (-102) [Maddux over Cain] for 1 Unit
Padres/Giants 4:35: The Padres have won 14 of the last 18 in this series and we'll stay on SD here. SF is struggling to produce runs (2 runs per game) and we don't think AT&T Park will help any as the Giants gear up for their home opener. We believe Greg Maddux still has some stuff left to stifle this average Giants' lineup with limited power (2 HRs). Maddux controls an 18-6 team mark with a 2.84 ERA pitching vs the Giants. The Padres, however, are batting a healthy .284 vs righties despite driving in just 3.1 rpg. Nevertheless, we'll side with SD to get enough of Matt Cain, who has not gotten any run support from his mates, especially in this series. Cain who has pitched brilliantly against SD, is only good for 7 innings tops, and then the shaky Giants' bullpen has to take over. And day games have not been good to the Giants over the last three seasons (47-66 including 0-4 this season). We'll grab the Padres.

Teddy June’s College Basketball NCAA Championship Winner (8-0 Last 3 Days, 16-3 Last 19 Selections Overall)
My 10* College Basketball NCAA Championship Winner is the Memphis Tigers minus the points over the Kansas Jayhawks. Well here we are another College Basketball season closes tonight as the 36-3 SU Kansas Jayhawks face off against the 38-1 SU Memphis Tigers. Memphis finished their 3rd straight impressive win in the tournament with a 78-63 victory over UCLA as 2 point chalk, that followed an 18 point win over Texas as 3.5 point chalk and an 18 point victory over Michigan State as 5.5 point chalk. Quite impressive to beat 3 teams that at one point or another were in the top 10 in the rankings, 2 of which were in the top 10 basically the entire year in Texas and UCLA. Meanwhile Kansas is coming off a very impressive performance over North Carolina in which they exposed the Tar Heels weak defense and heavy reliance on settling around the perimeter. They were able to expose UNC down low as well just like Memphis was able to expose UCLA in the paint. Kansas’ tournament resume is not quite as impressive with a narrow win over Davidson and blowouts over Villanova, UNLV and Portland State. This will be the third straight game I will back Memphis after fading them against Mississippi State for a winning ticket and I will say this, the most impressive team from Game 1 of the season until now has been the Memphis Tigers bar none. Their terrific non-conference schedule at the beginning of the year which included Oklahoma, UConn, USC, Georgetown, Arizona, and Gonzaga was flat out impressive. I think their lone loss has really only helped them but allowing for them to be relaxed and not worrying about the undefeated season. Their dismantling of Michigan State, Texas and UCLA in the tournament has been impressive. I’ve said this over and over again in their recent games; Derrick Rose is the best point guard in the nation and in my opinion the best asset to his team. Rose while only a freshman plays like a senior veteran in the way he takes control as the floor general. This kid absolutely will be a NBA star more than any other player that will step out on the court tonight. His speed is very deceptive as he gets up and down the court, always takes high percentage shots and he is always plays in control. He absolutely dominated the UCLA defense which included 2 Pac-10 defenders of the year and while I do think Kansas will muscle him a bit more with Chalmers, Collins and Robinson but I still feel that the Jayhawks will not be able to contain him. The two other keys for Memphis have been CDR and then the big 3 down low. CDR versus Rush will be a very good matchup but I see CDR being able to take him off the dribble and being able to maneuver better than the UNC guards were able to. CDR is very much underrated and doesn’t get a lot of credit one because he plays at Memphis but two because he is extraordinarily crafty in finding angles to make buckets. At times this game will get into a track meet and what I like about Memphis that UNC doesn’t do is Coach Cal makes sure his kids not only get back on defense but that they actually guard them. Memphis is very much underrated defensively as they finished top 10 in FG% against, 3PT% against and PTS against. What I also like that they do is they come right at you with quick, efficient fast breaks that generally always lead to something good. CDR and Rose finish on a fast break better than any guards in the nation in my opinion. This game will come down Memphis’ ability to guard around the perimeter, their deceptive quickness, their depth, their unselfishness, their determination and the ability of their big man to bang the boards and get points in the paint. Memphis has flat out been the most impressive team the entire season of college basketball, they have something and they have turned it on in this NCAA tournament as you can just see the confidence when this team steps out on the floor. Kansas has had a great year as well but they are running into a Memphis team that has surprisingly been underrated due to the fact they come out of C-USA and a Memphis squad that has gotten no respect in the Media. I love the way Coach Cal has worked and handled this group he knows when to push buttons when to lay off he knows how to work the matchups and how to fit each players style into the scheme. When I go through the matchups in this one I expect it will be more competitive than some of the games we have watched recently especially considering both teams can d up. But when it’s all said and done, I will back the hottest team in the country who is also the deepest team in the country with the best point guard in the country to get the job done tonight and win the National title. It is also noteworthy that favorites of 5 or less points in NCAA championship games are 10-0 SU and ATS in the last 10 tries. I currently have this line at -1.5 and have this rated at 10* up to -4. My 10* College Basketball NCAA Championship Winner is the Memphis Tigers minus the points. As always, Good Luck, Let’s make some money

MONDAY'S PICK
100 DIME PLAY
MEMPHIS
A note from Steve:
This line was floating between 1 1/2 and 2 points when this play was originally posted. At the time i suggested if you had Memphis -1 1/2, I want you to buy it down to -1 so you still push if the Tigers win by just one point. If you get Memphis at -2, buy down to -1 1/2 so you get a win with a two-point victory.
Now, as of Monday morning, the public has pushed this line up to -2 to -2 1/2points. The strategy has not changed. You still use the power of past profits to buy some insurance by purchasing the half point. If you have the -2, you buy down to -1 1 /2; if you have Memphis at -2 1/2, you buy down to -2 for all the same reasons as above.
Note: Even if this line moves to -3, Memphis still remains the play.

Analysis: ***** 5* NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME of the YEAR *****
(Guys, if the Consensus had 2.5, I would have Urged you to BUY the 1/2 POINT to +3 -120...but we are seeing that the majority of the shops are still using 2...now if the locals move it up as well as a few more off-shore then we will adjust because that is the Wager we are hoping for and are willing to wait until closer to Tip-Off to see if we can get it based on the action coming in, because 3 is defnately a huge number and makes it a 2 possession game)
Well we have had an excellent 2008 NCAABB Season and then parlayed that into an even bigger Post-Season with the NIT/CBI and more importantly the MADNESS...and it all comes to an end tonight and fittingly we are looking at the 2 best teams to settle this for us as to who is #1...before I break it down a bit, I want to say that to Please remember that this is just one game and that in the morning, we will be looking to a whole new slate of games to Profit with...now that is not to say that I am not confident...because you all know that I expect to WIN every wager I make or I wouldn't bother making it...but because you trust me and have made me your partner in this venture as we try and beat these numbers that the market offers us each day, it is my responsibility to try and also help you manage your funds so that together we are able to prosper...and now, lets move onto tonight's CHAMPIONSHIP Game...
We have been hearing and seeing all the comparisons the past 24hrs between these 2 teams and there is no reason to waste each others time going over some bullshit stats about FG% and how Memphis is bad at FT's...we all know that, we also know that we are looking at 2 excellent offenses, and more importantly, 2 excellent defenses...and when it comes to a National Championship to decide #1, we definately are looking at the right combatants...and like I said, there are many times that I will break down the stats for you, and even the umps, weather, and every factor that may contribute to a winning ticket...but tonight it comes down to which of these 2 teams will be able to execute, and which of these 2 teams will be able to hold a lead and close out a game when it matters...
And when I looked at this one, I truely felt that the team is going to be Kansas...when this season began I wrote a post saying that Memphis should win the Championship, but when this Tournament began, I corrected myself and said that Kansas is the team to beat...and that holds true tonight...
Kansas is just set up to win these type of games...they have the athleticism not to be overwhelmed like UCLA was, who within the first 10min it became apparent that Memphis would have to choke to lose that game...then when you look at the size advantage, sure the guards for Memphis may have height, but when you look inside, Kansas is ready to compete with them and crash the boards just as hard...
To be honest, Memphis will play rigth into their hands tonight because if they look to run, Kansas will be right there with them the entire time...and I had thought coming in that the only team that could give Kansas trouble was UCLA because they play a 1/2 court style and they play defense...but Memphis made UCLA play their style of ball and we saw how that turned out...but tonight, if Memphis looks to slow it up and try to play a little 1/2 court themselves, they just don't have the discipline to get it done...
So as it seems, I feel that only Kansas can beat Kansas...and that will not happen tonight because this team showed against Carolina that they will not buckle under pressure and they are on a mission...not to prove something to the rest of the world, like Memphis is trying to do...but instead to win this National Championship because that is what this team was built to do...they have the maturity and all the pieces in tact to do just that...
Finally, lets look at the action and the line in this one...now we are all hearing how all the money is on Memphis, but please do not be so naive...although the books are heavier on the Tigers, this one is not going to end up as one sided as many believe because the points will look good to many and we all know when the majority of bets are placed...an hour to game-time, so until then, saying that the public is all over Memphis is jumping the gun a bit...but that isn't as important as the line is...
I just do not feel that the oddsmakers were that off when they brought this number out at Kansas -1.5/-1...and we are now looking at a minimum of a 3pt swing, with possibly even more...now being one who has been involved with Steam I can tell you that there are instances where I would have seen a move like this and been all over the Fav...but this is a National Championship and not one of those instances...and besides the fact that I agreed with that opening number which made Kansas the favorite, I will again say, that I just do not think that the oddsmakers were that off in such a huge game...so with that, you can clearly see where the Value lies...
There is also one thing that I always try and tell my clients...Win or Lose, my job is to not only try to capp the information that I gather for you correctly...but it is also my responsibilty to make sure that I do everything I can to have you get your money in when you are getting the BEST of IT...and I will leave you with this...NOBODY can tell me, that since Memphis was a 1.5pt Dog in this game late Sat and even much later a Pick'em....that at -2.5 or greater, by taking Memphis you are getting the best of it and getting your money in with the edge....win or lose, no way is that the case...
So with that, enjoy the game...lets see if we can CASH our FINAL 5* of the NCAABB SEASON and Improve on our 80% Ats Mark, by backing KANSAS and looking for them to cut down the nets tonight.
