GINA

Philadelphia Phillies at Arizona Diamondbacks

The Phillies will send Jamie Moyer to the mound. The lefthander is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA, this season and went 1-1 with a 3.74 ERA in three career starts versus Arizona. Moyer allowed four runs and nine hits over 5 1/3 innings in a 4-2 defeat against San Diego in his last start on Wednesday. The Diamondbacks counter with right-hander Max Scherzer, who makes his first major-league start. He was impressive in his big-league debut last week against Houston, retiring all 13 hitters. Arizona has taken five of the last six meetings. Go with Arizona!

Lenny Del Genio

MLB Oddsmakers Mismatch
Play on LA Angels at 8:10 ET. Pretty easy to make a case for the Halos here as the pitching matchup of Santana vs. Tomko is a huge mismatch. Santana is a perfect 5-0 this year, including a 1.71 ERA over his last three starts (all LA wins). Meanwhile, Tomko has an ERA of 10.05 over his last three starts, and is 1-3 on the year. Santana, who is a perfect 3-0 on the road this season, looks to join teammate Joe Saunders and the Yankees' Chien-Ming Wang as the only six-game winners in the American League this year. Kansas City has a bit of momentum coming off a winning weekend, but coming back home certainly isn't the remedy to keep it going as they are scoring just 2.8 runs per game and hitting just .245 here on the season. LA Angels is our MLB Oddsmakers Mismatch.

Lenny Del Genio's MLB Triple Play (75% This Year)

Play on Arizona at 9:40 ET. The D'backs enter in off a rare loss and we're not afraid at all to back them here with rookie Max Scherzer on the hill, as he had a 38-3 strikeout/walk ratio in Triple A Tucson and threw a perfect 4.1 innings of relief in his lone appearance in the big leagues. This hard-throwing right-hander is highly touted by the organization and overpowered all 13 Houston batters he faced on 4/29, consistently delivering his fastball over 95 MPH. Arizona hasn't lost back-to-back games since 4/13-4/14, so it's more than reasonable to expect the bounce back. Also, the Phillies are hitting just .248 away from home. Arizona really manhandled the Phills last season, winning five of the six head-to-head meetings. Take Arizona.

Play on NY Mets at 10:10 ET. The Dodgers had their eight-game win streak snapped yesterday in Colorado, and this is probably as good a time as any to start going agianst them. Mets starter Oliver Perez has a team start record of 18-8 on the road when coming off a team win, so with yesterday's 5-2 win over the D'backs, he's set up perfectly. In fact, New York is riding pretty high after taking two of three from Arizona, the team with the best record in the majors. Perez was called out following a shaky performance in his last outing by manager Willie Randolph, so we expect him to step it up agianst a lineup that scored one run or less in 7 of its first 22 games. Take NY Mets.

Play on Seattle at 10:10 ET. Both teams are struggling, but Seattle remains a safe play in the home favorite role, going 22-6 if priced between -125 and -150 over the last two seasons. Starter Jarrod Washburn should have a field day against a Rangers lineup that is averaging just 3.0 runs/game vs. southpaws this season. Texas is just a lousy road team, evidenced by the fact they've dropped 29 of 38 away from home against teams with losing records. They also own the worst starting pitching in the American League. M's took two of three earlier in the season from their division rivals - the sixth consecutive time they've had a winning home series against the Rangers. Take Seattle.

HORNETS -2.5 to Spurs--The Hornets just don't lose in New Orleans. They cover 75% of games they are favored. Chandler and his pals frustrated the crap out of Tim Duncan. David West got easy buckets and Chris paul is all over the place. Stojakovic is unstoppable shooting the rock. Even Mo Peterson is getting involved. Spurs go home down 2 after losing both games on Bourbon St.
