BEN BURNS

DODGERS
Game: Cincinnati Reds vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers Reason: I'm laying the price with the LA DODGERS. The Reds have been really good to me of late. I didn't touch yesterday's game but won with the 'under' in their game on Saturday and successfull played on the Reds in their four previous games. I expect them to see their winning streak come to an end this evening though. The Reds have not fared well at Dodger Stadium in recent seasons. Indeed, they're 0-6 here the past two seasons and 5-12 their last 17 games here, dating back to 2002. They've also had real trouble vs. Brad Penny. While he was held out of yesterday's game, Penny reportedly still wanted to make the start. I expect him to be just fine this evening, particularly given that he is 5-0 with a 1.48 ERA against the Reds since he joined the Dodgers. Los Angeles manager Joe Torre noted: "He saw a doctor and there was nothing more than that, so that sort of put the concern away, and we just decided to give him an extra day." Despite losing his last start here, the Dodgers remain a healthy 7-3 the last 10 times that Penny pitched at home and 13-7 the last 20. Penny allowed three earned runs or less in 15 of those 20 starts. On the other hand, despite winning his most recent road start, the Reds remain an ugly 5-15 the last 20 times that Arroyo pitched on the road, including a 2-6 mark the last eight. Arroyo, who has a 5.75 ERA on the road this season, has seen his teams go 1-4 in his five starts against the Dodgers. Look for Penny and the Dodgers to cool off Arroyo and the Reds, continuing their recent homefield dominance in this series. *Personal Favorite

San Diego +1.09 (3 Unit Play)

The Padres return home tonight and as if nothing else could go wrong with their season thus far they learned yesterday that their ace Jake Peavy would not be able to make his scheduled start today because of soreness in his elbow. The loss of Peavy will certainly hurt but I can't believe the Padres are home underdogs to the Cardinals in this spot tonight. The Padres are throwing Wil Ledezma tonight and he has pitched very well out of the bullpen this year and is making only his 2ND start of the season but he pitched well in that outing against Atlanta. At home this year Ledezma is perfect with a 0.00 ERA in only 9 innings of work and has an outstanding WHIP of 0.89. The Cardinals were really struggling along as well until their last two games where they beat the Rays in their last at bat. Wellemeyer has been pitching well but he does know he is Todd Wellemeyer right? I look for the Padres to return home here and get the victory this evening.
