This is a great pitching match up between two guys who are coming off wins in their first outings of the season. Mike Leake is going for Seattle as he comes in off a seven inning, two runs allowed, four strikeout outing in a win over Cleveland. Minnesota is throwing Jose Berrios who is coming off a complete game shutout of Baltimore where he allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out six. Berrios was tough at home last year going 9-1 in 10 starts and 11 overall appearances with a 2.41 ERA. In 2017 he made one start against Seattle going 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA allowing two runs over eight innings. Last season Leake got off to a great start in April going 3-1 in five starts with an ERA of 1.35. Look for both pitchers to be on their game with Leake recreating his performance from last time out where Berrios doesn't as he allows some runs in a 4-2 Seattle victory with Cano getting to Berrios in the middle innings. Houston has already secured both home court advantage, and the best record in their franchise history as they head into this "meaningless" for them game against an Oklahoma City team that desperately needs a win.
OKC enters with losses in 5 of their last 7, and just a 1-5-1 spread mark in those 7 games!
The Thunder has not had much success against the Rockets, 4-13 against the spread the past 17 meetings, but Oklahoma City has been off since their Tuesday night loss to Golden State, so they do have some extra-rest on their side.
I don't think we are going to see a fully committed effort tonight from the home team, as a major injury now to one of their starters would be a catastrophe.
Look for Oklahoma City to be there plus the points.
