After leaving Minnesota with an 11-4 win on Saturday - Sunday's game was postponed due to the weather - Seattle's bats could muster just one-hit last night in their series opener in Kansas City, as the Mariners were baffled by Jakob Junis who pitched the first 7 innings last night in KC's 10-0 win.
Hats-off to the Royals starting pitching, as they have compiled a 1.04 over their last 5 games. Tonight it will be Eric Skoglund who is making his season debut tonight, as the combination of postponements and days off have kept the southpaw 5th starter working on his craft from the bullpen. In limited action last season at this level, he was rock-solid in his Major League debut against Detroit with 6-plus scoreless inning in a win over the Tigers, but in his 4 starts thereafter, he could not get past the 3rd inning.
Felix Hernandez will counter. Great first start in a win over Cleveland, but King Felix got shelled in his second start on the road at San Francisco. Hernandez owns a 3.05 ERA for his career against the Royals which is certainly good enough to be better than just 5-6 lifetime against Kansas City.
Going to side with the veteran tonight against the unproven youngster.
After just one hit total last night, Seattle wakes up tonight at Kauffman Stadium.
Mariners the call.

My free play run is now at 56-45-2.
Today my free winner is on the Chicago Cubs, in their matinee game with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
I won't be writing long here, as it's an early start, and I'm just not fond of the overall baseball card today. But I am fond of Tyler Chatwood outpitching Ivan Nova.
Chatwood gets the honor of taking the hill in tonight's home opener, after Monday's game was snowed out. The right-hander didn't have the best season debut, struggling with command, but he also allowed just one run in a 1-0 loss to the Reds. I think he'll be up for this game.
With Nova, we get to hit against a guy who struggled last Wednesday, and has struggled in four starts to limit the Cubs with a 4.09 ERA.
Take Chicago and list both.
5* CUBS (Chatwood over Nova)
