Cajun Sports MLB 5* "Double Perfect" Underdog Wednesday
Date: Wednesday July 22 2009
Game: San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves (7:10 PM Eastern)
Selection: 5* San Francisco Giants +100
Analysis:
The Ted will be the site of tonight’s clash between the host Atlanta Braves and the visiting San Francisco Giants. Since arriving in Atlanta for a four-game series the Giants have fallen one-half game behind the Rockies in the NL wild-card race, the Giants lost the first two of this series by a 19 to 4 margin. The Braves won last night by a score of 8 to 1 and this triggers a negative technical situation for them, the Braves are 6-21 W/L in this price range after a win by five or more runs for a profit of +1445 when playing against them in this situation. Atlanta is 9-19 W/L (-15.4) after scoring 7 runs or more in 2 straight games the last 3 seasons. San Francisco will send ace right-hander Tim Lincecum to the bump with his 10-2 W/L record and ERA of 2.27 on the season in hopes he can turn this series around and give his team a chance to at least come away with a split. He is certainly the guy to do it with a record of 5-0 W/L in five career starts versus the Braves and an ERA of 2.08 in those games. Lincecum is 8-0 W/L with an ERA of 1.89 when pitching under the lights this season and 14-5 W/L (+9.5) on the road when the money line is +125 to -125 over the last 2 seasons. The Braves hot bats along with the Giants Ace put the Braves in a couple negative situations that tell us to (1) Play Against MLB home teams batting .333 or better over their last 3 games facing a starting pitcher with a WHIP <=1.100 over his last ten games, 77-40 SU (65.8%) for +35.1 Units since 1997. We want to (2) Play On MLB underdogs with a money line of +100 to +150 with a team batting .225 or worse over their last 5 games against a team batting .333 or better over their last 3 games, 60-42 SU (58.8%) for +31.6 Units. Our final system for this situation says to (3) Play On MLB underdogs with a money line of +100 to +150 with a starting pitcher whose winning percentage is better than 70 percent, and ERA is less than 3.00 over his last 10 games, 36-19 SU (65.5%) for +23.3 Units. The Braves will send right-hander Jair Jurrjens to the hill with his 8-7 W/L record and ERA of 2.77 this season. He will be attempting to win a career high third consecutive start when he takes the mound tonight. In four starts this month he is 3-1 W/l with an ERA of 2.16 however in two career starts versus the Giants he is 0-2 W/L with an ERA of 3.46. Our TPR (Team Performance Ratings) Index projects a Giants win by 2.5 runs over the Braves and our Math Model also favors the visitor with a projected margin of victory for the Giants of almost three runs (2.9 runs). Combine all the elements, fundamentals, technical’s and situational support and we have a strong play on the Giants tonight at the Ted. Back the visiting underdog as the puppy brings home the cash on Wednesday night in ATL.

PROJECTED FORECAST:
5* San Francisco Giants 3 Atlanta Braves 0
