Royals sign free agent Willie Bloomquist
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -The Royals signed free-agent utilityman Willie Bloomquist to a two-year contract and right-hander Kyle Davies to a one-year deal to avoid arbitration.
The 31-year-old Bloomquist spent all seven of his big league seasons with the Seattle Mariners. He has a .263 lifetime batting average and has made at least 10 starts at every position except pitcher and catcher.
Davies went 9-7 last season with a 4.06 ERA in 21 starts for Kansas City. The 25-year-old right-hander was 4-1 in September with a 2.27 ERA.
Terms of the two deals were not disclosed.
