In Wednesday and Thursdays game, not a single game had more than five goals scored. However, on Friday, playing all overs would have resulted in a 2-1-1 day as all but one of the games saw at least five goals scored. Fridays results included two very high scoring games in Washington and in Pittsburgh. The Penguins result is particularly interesting for our purposes here as it shows you what can often happen when a team gets shutout in Game 1 of a series. The Senators were shutout 4-0 by Pittsburgh on Wednesday. As expected, Ottawas offense responded by scoring three goals on Friday. However, also as expected, the Sens defense and goaltending continued to struggle and the Penguins ended up with five goals last night! A similar type of result should be on tap in Montreal tonight. The Canadiens won Game 1 by a 4 to 1 final. The Bruins couldnt stop the Habs while Bostons own offense sputtered. Now in Game 2, you can fully expect a strong bounce back effort from Bostons offense but look for their defense to struggle once again. The Bruins are facing one of the most potent offenses in the league and they will simply struggle to stop them. However, we do expect Boston to be more competitive in Game 2 after getting blown out in Game 1. To do so, the Bruins will have to produce on offense and that is exactly what we expect them to do today. They know that Carey Price is still young and still proving himself as the Canadiens netminder is making his first ever playoff appearance. Note that he did have three giveaways in Fridays game and hes fortunate to have survived those mistakes. It may not be so easy for him on Saturday and this could easily turn into a back-and-forth high scoring affair!
