Gold Medal Club

Montreal @ Boston
PLAY ON BOSTON +120

When it comes to the playoffs you can all but throw out trends and systems, as this series has proven, its all about momentum, and this series has swung to Boston.Montreal was tops in the nhl regular season on the power play, but have gone 2 for 25 in this series, in fact Boston it seems has more scoring opportunities when short handed. Lets also consider young Carey Price, he is only 20 years old, and has been able to rebound from past poor performances, but this is pressure time and going into an electric atmosphere tonight in Boston, will be a true test. Nice line value here as I like the Bruins to extend this series to 7.

Nite Owl Sports

Game: Philadelphia Flyers @ Washington Capitals
Pick: 3 units Washington Capitals -138

We like the Wash Caps to win this game and take the series back to Philly for a game 6 and a possible "deja vu all over again," to use one of Yogi Berra's pet phrases. Twenty years ago this month, the Capitals were on the brink of elimination in a first-round series to the Philadelphia Flyers after losing Game 4 in overtime on the road. The Capitals rallied to win the next three, capped by Dale Hunter's overtime goal in Game 7. It is one of only 20 times in NHL history that a team has overcome 3-1 series deficit. Can the Caps repeat history 20 years later and make it 21? Maybe, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, as all we are dealing with here is whether they will win this must win game 5, which is all that the Caps should be thinking about as well. And we like their chances of doing that, for a number of reasons. First, recognize that despite losing game 4 in double OT, it was their best full game so far in the series. Before that, the Flyers had arguably been the better team in eight of nine periods over the three games, with the Caps' come-from-behind third period in Game 1 the sole exception. Game 4 also was the first in which the Capitals didn't have a two-goal deficit, and the first in which they matched Philadelphia's aggression for a full game. Second, the site of the game should make a big difference, as Philly has now won their last 7 at home, but is just a lame 2-9 in their 11 road games vs playoff teams since the All Star break. Contrast that to Wash, which is 7-3 (including 1-1 at home in this series) in its 10 home games vs playoff teams since the "break." Last but not least is the fact being on the "edge" of elimination is nothing new to the Caps players, who had to play "game 7 hockey" for the final two weeks of the regular season, winning seven straight , just to make it into the postseason. The Capitals, after all, were the worst team in the NHL when Coach Bruce Boudreau was hired in November, and went 11-5 "down the stretch," including those seven straight wins. And now, these guys are excited, not intimidated, about having the chance to become the 21st team to come back from 3-1. "We've been in this position before," forward Brooks Laich said. "People have counted us out. They wrote us off, saying, 'Oh, it's been a good push, it's been a good story.' Now I think some people are waiting for us to die, and we don't feel like that in here. We still think we have a lot to give. We think this is going to be a long series." And so do we, so take the Caps to at least win this game, and then we'll see about game 6. Meanwhile, we urge you to consider signing up for one of our NHL packages (our best deal being our season package for the remainder of the playoffs, which we just reduced in price, given that first round is nearly over). We are getting hot at just the right time, as we are 6-1 for +13 units in our last 7 NHL picks, including our free play winner yesterday on the Ducks, as part of our 2-0 for +4.7 units in NHL last night.
