NY METS (J. Santana) -125 over NY YANKEES (Pettitte)

Our play on the Mets and Johan Santana last night was rained out, but that sets up a more attractive scenario today. As mentioned yesterday, the Yankees have been pitiful vs. lefthanders (-$440 with only 3.2 runs per game), but the Mets have been very effective against southpaws (9-4, +$320). Getting by without Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada has been difficult when taking on just middle-range lefthanders, now they must contend with the best in baseball. The price on the visitor is short under the circumstances, so go with the Mets in this one.

UNDER of the DAY

OAKLAND A's @ ATLANTA Braves
Play on: UNDER

It doesn't get more "UNDER"- whelming than this one! Oakland comes into tonight's game on a current streak of 0-4 O/U In their last 4 games... and 2-7-1 O/U in their last 10. The Braves counter with a current streak of 1-8-1 O/U in their last 10 games. DID YOU NOW? That the Braves are already an amazing 11-29-1 O/U on the season?

Throw in a couple of STUD starting pitchers, and this one is a no-brainer. Both starters have very favorable numbers in NIGHT starts this year. RICH HARDEN has an ERA of only 1.50 "Under the Light's in 2008 while TIM HUDSON's NIGHT time ERA is only 1.99. Hudson is working on a current 5-start streak in which he has allowed ZERO home runs, while Harden has allowed ZERO "Dingers" in his last two starts.

Here's what 'seals the deal': DAN IASSOGNA gets the call behind the dish tonight. His OU record on the season is already an UNDER-whelming 1-6 O/U.... and a PERFECT 0-5 O/U In his last 5 overall. Average runs per game is only 6.3. He has a very high strike percentage of 64% on the year, with a K/BB ratio of 2.43 to 1.... which is very good for an UNDER Umpire. Average 'Punch Outs' per game (K's) is 15.3. Average 'Free Passes' (BB's) is only 6.3. To back us up, we note that IASSOGNA has very good career numbers in INTERLEAGUE games with a record of 9-20-1 O/U in the last 10 years. Also 2-9-1 O/U dating back to last season on SATURDAYS.

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Philadelphia ? Philadelphia now 5 games over 500 and surging up the ranks of the National League overall standings. They are third best in the National League with a 24-19 mark. Phils in a tie with the Marlins and have 2 game leads over the Nets and Atlanta and a 6 game lead over the Nationals. Yet, what was supposed to a very intimidating offense has mostly sputtered and the highly suspect bullpen is truly come together as one of the best units in baseball. The Phillies bullpen ranks first in the Majors with a 2.58 ERA and only Oakland at 2.97 sports an ERA under 3.00. They rank 3rd with a 226 BA allowed and only Tampa Bay at 214 and Oakland at 215 are better. Over the past 7 games they have been lights out sporting a 1.89 ERA yielding just 4 ER in 19 total relief innings worked. Supporting this graded play is a system that has gone 83-41 and has made 38 units since 1997. Play on home teams after a game where they stranded 3 or less runners on base and starting a pitcher who walked 5 or more hitters last outing. Phillies starter Eaton is 15-4 (+11.5 Units) against the money line when playing against a marginal losing team sporting a winning percentage of 46% to 49% since 1997.

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES +105

15 Dime –

METS (With Santana and Pettitte as listed pitchers)

Let’s try this again.

Take the Mets for the road win over the Yankees.

The Yankees are faltering. Big time.

Their once potent lineup has been decimated by injuries and they are struggling to score runs. That doesn’t bode well going into tonight’s game with Johan Santana taking the mound.

The left-hander has settled down after a bit of a rocky start to the season. He’s 4-2 with a 3.10 ERA in eight games. Santana has been good against the Yankees in his career too, going 3-0 with a 2.66 ERA in five games.

Santana is 16-4 with a 2.27 ERA in 35 interleague appearances, including 24 starts.

Since the Yankees don’t have the same potent lineup right now that Santana is used to facing, he should be able to hold them in check.

The Yankees have lost six of nine and managed just six runs in their four game series against the Rays.

Andy Pettitte will get the start today and the Yankees have lost each of his last four starts.

Take the Mets as they grab the road win.

5 Dime –

RAYS (With Garza as listed pitcher)

Take the Rays as the small road dog for the win this afternoon over the Cardinals.

Tampa Bay has won eight of its last nine games, outscoring the opposition 38-15.

Pitching has been the big reason for their streak, as the Rays’ starters have posted a 1.16 ERA over the last 10 games.

Matt Garza will get the start today and he’s 2-1 with a 2.19 ERA in his last four starts.

The Cardinals will start Adam Wainwright, who is coming off his first loss in six starts when he allowed eight runs and three homeruns in six innings of Monday’s 8-3 loss at Milwaukee.

Take the Rays as they grab the road win.

TWINS (With Hernandez as listed pitcher)

Take the Twins for the road win tonight over the Rockies.

Minnesota will start Livan Hernandez, and all he’s done is go 6-1 with a 3.90 ERA in trying to stabilize a rotation that lost Johan Santana to the Mets in free agency.

Hernandez has been even better over his last three starts, going 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA.

The Rockies will counter with rookie Greg Reynolds, who is making just his second major league start. He debuted on Sunday against San Diego and allowed four runs and six hits in 5 2-3 innings of a 6-1 loss to San Diego. The right-hander also allowed two home runs in that game.

Take the Twins as they grab the road win.
