ROBERT FERRINGO

3-Unit Play. Take Detroit (-135) over Seattle
2-Unit Play. Take Detroit (-1.5, +120) over Seattle
Note: This is our Game of the Week.

R.A. Dickey put up another solid outing earlier in the week - against the light-hitting Blue Jays. I'm not seeing three in a row out of the knuckler. We have an ump with a bit tighter zone behind the dish in Hunter Wendelstedt, who has gone 11-1 on the 'over' in his last 12 games. Dickey's light fastball isn't going to fool the Tigers lineup, and they have enough solid veteran sticks to be patient and wait out the knuckleball. Army Gallaraga has been a nice suprise for the Tigers this year and is a solid 5-1 on the road with a 2.78 ERA. He is much tougher on righties than on lefties, and Seattle doesn't have a lineup full of southpaw bats that can hurt him. In fact, Seattle is 14-30 in its last 44 against a right-handed starter. The Tigers are 24-5 as a favorite and have won six straight of Army's starts, they are 9-3 in their last 12 against the M's, and Seattle is just 5-21 with the total in this range. All in all, a solid play and I'm looking for an 8-3 Tigers win.

2-Unit Play. Take Los Angeles Dodgers (-130) over San Francisco
Barry Zito. Do I really need to say more? The Dodgers are getting healthy and are really playing well at the moment. Zito has been an absolute train wreck, especially at home, and we're going to be betting at least two Units against him every single time he takes the mound for the rest of the year. Or until he gets moved back to the pen.

2-Unit Play. Take Tampa Bay (-140) over Kansas City
It's pretty much at the point where if the Rays are laying less than -155 they should be just about automatic at home. The Royals aren't a turf team and right now the Rays are just clicking. Zach Grienke got off to a great start but has settled down a bit. Besides one shutout of the D-Backs (who don't hit anyone) Grienke has an ERA of 5.83 in his last nine outings. He is also 12-30 in his last 42 road starts. The Rays are 13-5 against the Royals, 10-2 at home against the Royals, 12-2 in Andy Sonnastine's last 14 starts, and 24-5 at home against a right-handed starter.

1-Unit Play. Take Chicago White Sox (-140) over Oakland
Greg Smith is coming off a complete game, and I generally like to fade those pitchers. Mix in the fact that I don't believe the A's are going to sweep the Sox at home and I think this is an excellent opportunity with Gavin Floyd at home. The Sox are 6-1 in his last seven starts and have won five straight of his home outings.

1-Unit Play. Take St. Louis (-115) over Chicago Cubs
Time for the Cardinals to even this series up. I think they have the better hurler on the hill today and I think they can get to Ted Lilly. St. Louis has been tough on lefties all season and they are 8-1 in Kyle Lohse's last nine starts. The Cubs are still a dicey road wager, and they are 0-7 as an underdog. Again, we're playing against a road sweep here.

1-Unit Play. Take Texas (-105) over Baltimore
You can't keep a good man down. In this case, you can't keep a good lineup down. After getting suppressed last night I think the Rangers bats heat back up. I like the 'under' in this game, as I believe it will be lower scoring than the oddsmakers believe, but I do see Texas squeezing out five or six runs and I believe that will be enough.

Today's Totals
2.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 9.0 (+100) Detroit at Seattle
2.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 9.0 Houston at Atlanta
2-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 9.0 Pittsburgh at Milwaukee
1.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Under’ 9.5 New York Mets at Philadelphia
