BOBBY MAXWELL
Philadelphia gets an extra-inning win Friday to improve our FREE play record to 24-19 over the last 43 days. Today we're again in the National League with a comp winner on the Marlins as they take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
The Marlins have taken the first two games of this series and there no reason to believe they won't win a third straight with Ricky Nolasco (10-4, 3.74 ERA) on the mound as he's just dominated his last six starts, not allowing more than three runs in any of the six and the Marlins are 6-0.
Florida has won nine of his last 10 starts and held the Padres to one run on five hits over eight innings on Monday in a 3-1 victory. In his last 23 innings he's given up four runs. Nolasco is 6-2 on the road this season and the Marlins are 8-3 in his 11 road outings and 12-5 overall with the youngster on the hill.
Hiroki Kuroda (5-6, 3.39) is on the mound for the Dodgers and he's been hot lately, not allowing a run in his last 16 innings, beating the Astros 4-1 and Atlanta 3-0.
The Dodgers are 8-17 against teams with a winning record and 2-5 on Saturdays. And the Marlins seem to love Los Angeles, going 5-1 in their last six games at Dodger Stadium.
We'll play Florida because its a better overall team than Los Angeles. Go with the Marlins.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox
Selection: Boston Red Sox -1.5 Runs
The Baltimore Orioles will use starting pitcher Radhames Liz. Radhames Liz has struggled this entire season. In fact, Radhames Liz has a 5.94 ERA on the season. We see Radhames Liz having another bad game today.
The Boston Red Sox will use starting pitcher Tim Wakefield. Tim Wakefield has been pitching very well as of late. In fact, Tim Wakefield has a 1.77 ERA in his last 3 starts. We see Tim Wakefield having another good game today.
The Boston Red Sox are 7-20 in their last 27 meetings against the Baltimore Orioles (when playing in Boston), and should be able to get another blowout win tonight!
Take the Boston Red Sox -1.5 Runs

The last time Eric Stults pitched at Dodgers Stadium, he allowed 4 hits over 9 innings of work, shutting out the high powered White Sox lineup. He will be facing another powerful lineup when he goes against the Marlins tonight. Opposing teams are hitting .237 against Stults on the season, but keep in mind, 3 of his 4 starts have been on the road. Stults will be opposed by Chris Volstad of the Marlins, who is making his first Major League start. Volstad was 4-4 with a 3.36 Era at Double A Carolina. The Scouting report indicates that he is more of a finesse pitcher than a power pitcher, despite his 6'7" frame. One way to slow down the Florida offense is to throw a left handed pitcher at them. The Marlins are hitting just .225 on the season against south paws. Now they get to face a solid young guy in Stults that they have yet to face this season, and who will be pitching in a pitchers park. Stults may not pitch a shutout tonight, but he does have a solid relief corps backing him should he tire in the later innings.

The Nationals trail the Major Leagues with a record of 36-58 in the National League East Division under their Manager Manny Acta. They have won two out of their last three events however, benefiting from good pitching. 21 year-old Rookie Colin Balester (1-1, 5.06) makes his Home debut here, and he kept his team in the ballgame in both of his starts through five innings. The Nats look to keep winning into the All-Star Break versus a rival they are 10-4 against lately.
The Astros under their Manager Cecil Cooper trail the National League Central Division with a record of 42-51 on the season. They may have lost Ace Oswalt for a bit as he aggravated a hip injury last evening. Wandy Rodriguez takes the mound for the Astros tonight. They have lost seven of the Lefty's last nine starts. Other negative trends for the Astros here include 14-21 versus losing teams, 20-30 on the Road, and 30-37 versus Right-handed starters.
The Run line overnited at Nationals +1.5 Runs, -145.We'll take those Runs and the Home Nats.

Arizona at PHILADELPHIA -125
I know a lot of bettors are looking over Randy Johnson's last start, and all of a sudden the Diamondbacks are starting to look tempting at this price, but that would be a mistake and here's why:
First off, while many are impressed with Johnson's effort against the Padres in his last start, I remain far from convinced. Let's not forget, it was the Padres lowly offense that came against, and before that one, he was 0-6 with a 6.32 ERA in his 8 starts prior! Before you go jumping all over the "Big Unit" in this one, consider the Phillies crush lefties at home, averaging a hearty 5.8 runs per game against them on the season!
Second, I'll be the first to admit Adam Eaton has struggled of late, but if there's any offense he can bounce back against, it would be the D-Backs on the road. Arizona is batting just .212 against righties away, averaging just 3.4 runs per game in that spot (a far cry from the Phillies potent numbers). Eaton is 3-5 with a decent 4.23 ERA in 14 career starts against Arizona, and in this case, he's catching them in the midst of some serious struggles at the plate AND on the road, where the D-Backs are even more anemic!
Finally, if there's one edge we know goes to the Phillies, its the bullpen, as they not only post an ERA more than a run lower than the D-Backs on the season (2.66 versus 3.75), but also, Arizona 'pen has tossed 8 1/3 innings over the last two days (both extra inning contests), and will be especially vulnerable tonight. In the end, the Phillies are 12-7 against lefties at home this season, and when you put these two offenses (and bullpens) side by side, there's no question the Phillies are the only way to go here.
Take Philadelphia behind Eaton over Arizona and Johnson in this MLB match up.

VEGAS EXPERTS
Chicago White Sox at Texas Rangers
The White Sox are off rare back-to-back losses and haven't lost three straight since getting swept by the Cubs last month. They send out the red hot John Danks, who in his last three starts has a TSR of 3-0 and an ERA of 1.33. Few teams in baseball are better than Chicago in the role of favorite as the Pale Hose have turned in a 32-14 record in said role. Danks allowed no runs in his previous road start.
