Priceless Picks

1 Unit on Minnesota Twins -162

This is a play against Byrd. The Indians are 2-10 in Byrd's last 12 road starts, 3-15 in Byrd's last 18 starts as a road underdog of +110 to +150, and 0-6 in Byrd's last 6 starts during game 2 of a series. The Indians are just 10-28 in their last 38 road games and 6-20 in their last 26 road games vs. a team with a winning record. The Twins are 7-1 in Slowey's last 8 starts. Bet the Twins at home Saturday.

1 Unit on Washington Nationals -118

This is a good spot to take the Nats against a struggling Reds club. Washington is an impressive 28-13 against the money line in home games when playing against a team with a losing record in the second half of the season over the last 3 seasons and 32-19 against the money line in home games vs. NL teams allowing 4.8 or more runs/game in the second half of the season over the last 3 seasons. Cincy is a pathetic 18-43 against the money line vs. terrible power teams - averaging 0.75 or less HR's/game over the last 2 seasons and 6-16 against the money line vs. an NL starting pitcher whose ERA is 3.50 to 4.20 this season. Bergmann has been much better than his numbers might indicate and I like him here against a weakened Reds order.

1 Unit on St. Louis Cardinals -106

The Phillies have really struggled on Saturday's winning just 3 of their last 13 Saturday games. The Cardinals are an impressive 25-11 in their last 36 during game 2 of a series, 19-7 in their last 26 Saturday games, and 10-2 in their last 12 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Looper is coming off of a quality start and the Cardinals are 12-5 in Looper's last 17 starts as a favorite. Take the Red Birds at home.

Philadelphia Phillies at St Louis Cardinals
Prediction: St Louis Cardinals

Cardinals and Phillies resume their critical weekend series in St. Louis this evening when Joe Blanton faces Braden Looper at Busch Stadium. Blanton enters the game in rocky form while owning a 5.28 ERA in his road starts this season. On the flip side, Looper is in solid KW form with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts in his last three starts. With the Red Birds 16-4 on Saturdays and the Phils 3-10 on Saturdays, we recommend you stay at home with Looper and the Cardinals here tonight.

Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees

The Yankees have lost 5 of their last 6 games. Mussina is on the mound today and he didn't look good in his last start and faces a team he's struggles against. The Yankees have lost 3 of his last 4 starts vs. LA. and they have dropped his alst 4 home starts vs. them. The Angels are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between the clubs. Play on the red hot Angels +.

TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS

The oldest player in the AL starts today for the Tigers in the person of Kenny Rogers. Rogers has been a fair pitcher this year with a 8-7 mark and 4.69 era. He hasn't pitched very well at Tropicana field though, where he is 1-4 lifetime with a 5.04 era. Andy Sonnastine starts for the Rays. Sonnastine is 10-6 on the year with a 4.65 era. He's been very consistent going both 5-3 at home and on the road. The Tigers dealt All-Star catcher "pudge" Rodriguez to the Yankees for a pitcher and that will not only hurt the defense, but the offense too which was second in the league in runs scored (5.09 per game). We'll stick with the first place Rays here on Saturday.

WASHINGTON NATIONALS

Sean Bergmann has one of the uglier records in baseball this season. But the fact is the Nationals righty hasn't really been all that bad. His peripherals are pretty good, and his sorry W/L record is more bad luck than anything else. I think Bergmann is in good shape to garner a win here as he faces a sorry Reds squad that's showing very little life right now. Add in the fact the Nats seemed really energized last night following the release of a couple of old vets who could not have been happy in Washington and you've got a team that now has a little fire. I'm on the Nationals to make it two straight over the Reds.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS -125

We will side with the Toronto Blue Jays as they face-off against the Texas Rangers in Saturday's MLB contest. The Toronto Blue Jays will use starting pitcher A.J. Burnett. A.J. Burnett has been pitching very well as of late. In fact, A.J. Burnett has a 1.42 ERA in his last 3 starts. We see A.J. Burnett pitching another great game today. The Texas Rangers will use starting pitcher Scott Feldman. Scott Feldman has been struggling as of late. In fact, Scott Feldman has a 8.04 ERA in his last 3 starts. We see Scott Feldman pitching another bad game today. The Toronto Blue Jays are 7-2 in their last 9 meetings against the Texas Rangers, and should be able to get another win today! Take the Toronto Blue Jays!

This is a play against Byrd. The Indians are 2-10 in Byrd's last 12 road starts, 3-15 in Byrd's last 18 starts as a road underdog of +110 to +150, and 0-6 in Byrd's last 6 starts during game 2 of a series. MILWAUKEE BREWERS -1½

Milwaukee ended a five-game losing streak last night and they've got the right man on the mound as they look for a second straight win over Atlanta. Sabathia has been nearly untouchable in his two road starts for the Brew Crew, allowing one run and seven hits with 17 strikeouts in 18 innings in winning both games. Charlie Morton who has struggled mightily since being called up from the minors will oppose Sabathia. Morton was tagged for a career-high eight runs and seven hits in 3 2-3 innings of a 12-3 loss to St. Louis. The right-hander is 1-3 with a 9.53 ERA in his last five starts. Atlanta managed five hits in Friday's opener as it was shut out for the second time in 10 games and the 11th time on the season. The Braves, who are without Chipper Jones and Tim Hudson, have lost six of seven. This is definitely the right place and right time to make a nice run line profit on the Brewers.

ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS +110

Today the Arizona Diamondbacks will be on the road as they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. We will side with the Arizona Diamondbacks! One reason why we will side with the Arizona Diamondbacks is because they will be sending to the mound the much better starting pitcher. This says it all... The Arizona Diamondbacks Starting Pitcher (Yusmeiro Petit) has a 1.64 ERA in his last 3 starts, while Los Angeles Dodgers Starting Pitcher (Hiroki Kuroda) has a 13.11 ERA in his last 3 starts. As you can see, the Arizona Diamondbacks will be sending to the mound the much better starting pitcher. To say the least, the Arizona Diamondbacks should be able to get another win tonight! Take the Arizona Diamondbacks!

4♦ HOUSTON ASTROS +120

We're taking the plus-money with the home team Astros in this one as they have Roy Oswalt (8-8, 4.67 ERA) going tonight against the Mets' Johan Santana (9-7, 2.93 ERA). The Astros scored the win over New York on Friday and they'll do it again tonight. The Mets have lost three of four on their current road trip while the Astros have quietly won four of their last five games, including three of four on this homestand. Oswalt is 2-0 in his last three starts with a 3.75 ERA and the Astros have won three of his last four over the Mets. On Monday he gave up four runs in five innings of a 5-4 win over the Reds. Santana was touched up in his last road outing, giving up five runs in four innings but his offense bailed him out with a 10-8 win in Cincinnati. The Mets have lost seven of his last 10 starts and he comes into this one having never faced the Astros. The Mets are 1-5 in their last six on the road against right-handed starters and just 2-10 in their last 12 as a road favorite. Meanwhile the Astros are 49-18 in Oswalt's last 67 home starts and 32-15 when he faces a team with a winning record. We're playing Houston in this one.
