30 DIMER - SEATTLE MARINERS
10 DIMERS - YANKS-MINNESOTA OVER, SAN DIEGO PADRES

30 DIMER - SEATTLE MARINERS (Batista over Rogers)

As I said yesterday when I gave you the Pirates as a 20 Dime Dog, "Why Not?"

Detroit isn't exactly fielding a healthy team these days, and Jim Leyland's bullpen has been a mess all season long!

Seattle has won 3 of their last 4 games, and with the Tigers just 11-18 on the road this year, I don't think the Motown Cats should be laying this price.

Miguel Batista has not had the season Seattle would like, but he did just work 7 innings of 2 run ball in a no-decision at home against Boston, and I can see him building off of that solid start today.

Going to ride the Mariners to take this one.

10 DIMER - NY YANKEES-MINNESOTA OVER THE TOTAL (Rasner vs. Blackburn)

There has been plenty of hits and runs this weekend at the Metrodome between the Yankees and Twins, and I expect their will be more of the same today.

Darrell Rasner has been a find for New York, as his 3-1 mark with an under 2 ERA attest, but you have to wonder how long the kid can stay at this pace? Perhaps he gives up 3 or 4 runs this afternoon. If that is the case, we have a great chance at the OVER, as the New York bats should be good for another 7 runs or so against the youngster Blackburn who will more than likely get caught in that "I am pitching against the Yankees for the first time" syndrome.

I say the OVER is the way to go, as the Yanks have landed there in 6 of their last 8, while the Twins have landed high in 7 of their last 10.

Play the OVER.

10 DIMER - SAN DIEGO PADRES (Wolf over Lincecum)

The Padres are quietly playing some solid ball, as they have won their last 3, and 5 of their last 6.

The Giants have dropped 4 of their last 7, and while Tim Lincecum has been their "ace" this year at 6-1, he is not immune to giving them up, as he has allowed 9 runs his last 19 innings of work.

Randy Wolf has been steady for the most part this season, and Diego is now 9-5 in games played at San Francisco since last season.

I say take the underdog Friars, as they pull off the weekend sweep.

Toronto at Los Angeles

Toronto is 7-0 on Sunday and they are and they are 7-1 their last 8 games vs. righty pitchers. The Blue Jays are 9-3 their last 12 road games and they are 7-2 with A.J. Burnett vs. winning teams. Los Angeles starter is in terrible KW form with more walks than strikeouts in his last 3 starts. The Angels are 1-6 in Game 3 of a series. PLAY ON TORONTO

BIG AL'S RED-HOT TOTALS WINNER (4-0 L4 & 11-4 L15)

At 4:10pm our selection is on the Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks 'under' the total. It may be too early to panic, but the D-Backs have to be at least a little concerned about their recent slump. After looking like the team to beat in the National League (if not the Majors) after the first month of the season, the Diamondbacks went 11-17 for the month of May and have lost nine of their last twelve contests. What's really amazing about this is that even with this dreadful stretch, Arizona is still in first place in the NL West Division by a fairly comfortable margin of three-and-a-half games. That should tell you how bad this division is right now. The D-Backs need this win against Washington before they embark on what could be a very tough ten game road trip. Last night they shut out the Nats behind Brandon Webb, but each of the four runs that Arizona scored came on solo home runs. They simply can't seem to put runs together right now in any meaningful fashion. They are facing a pretty good righthander in Shawn Hill, and that could mean trouble as the D-Backs are batting a disgusting .242 vs. righties. The Nats can't seem to score runs either and will face stiff competition in righthander Danny Haren, who admitedly is not at his best right now, but this could be just the opponent he needs to bounce back. The under is 10-4 in the last fourteen meetings in Arizona. Take the 'under'.

Tony Smith's Picks of the Day

Sunday night baseball will be droning on about Santana going for win number one hundred in his career, they are probably going to do the Joe Torre career reflection as it was 31 years ago the Mets hired Torre to manage them and probably some other belabored point. I tend to watch Sunday night football and baseball on MUTE. The story here is the apparant awakening of the pre season NL eastern favorites. The Mets have won four of their last five, with two of the wins in come from behind fashion, something that has been missing from these Mets. Johan Santana gets the start for NY. The prize free agent pick up for the Mets has not dissappointed however he has not been overwhelming either. The belief is Santana will only get better as the season and warm weather progress. He stands now at 6 - 3, he pitched 7 shutout innings vs. the Marlins last week in a game the Mets really needed to win (5 - 3). Hiroki Kuroda gives the Dodgers a quality start every time out, they have not returned the favor as he has been hard luck all year. Kuroda is 2 - 4 with a 3.29 ERA in eleven starts for LA. In ten of the eleven outings he has allowed three runs or less so he should have more to show for it. Furcal did not mmake this trip with the Dodgers and he has been the catalyst for the Dodgers offense and having a tremendous season. Furcal's absence is a huge factor when you know you may have to scratch to score. The Mets stay hot at home behind Santana. BEST: METS

Stu Feiner's Picks of the Day

2,500 Dime MLB Best Bets: BRAVES, ASTROS & ANGELS

After a pair of extra inning losses, the Braves will bounce back and take today’s series’ finale at Cincinnati. They hit righties hard and Chipper & Co., who did enough offensively to win Saturday, will hit rookie Johnny Cueto hard this afternoon. This is a team that is batting .285 and averaging 5.5 runs per game. Cueto (3-5, 5.40) has gone five or fewer innings in three of his last four starts. Meanwhile, Atlanta ace Tim Hudson has a 3.00 ERA in six road starts and his teams are 4-0 in his starts versus Cincy and he has a 3.38 ERA in those contests. The Braves are too good to be swept by this less-than average Cincy team and they won’t as Atlanta wins Sunday.

Houston had been rolling until the Astros reached Milwaukee and they will not reach what would be a season-high four-game losing streak. The Astros won 17 of their first 24 games in May before dropping the first three at Miller Park this weekend. It’s bounce back time Sunday behind Shawn Chacon, who has a 3.61 ERA in seven road starts this year after limiting the Cardinals to just two runs in seven innings in his last start. He’s won his last two starts and he’ll beat Dave Bush (1-5, 6.15 ERA in nine starts) this afternoon. Houston’s offense has been in a slumber all weekend after tearing the cover off the ball for the previous three-plus weeks. The Astros wake up today, batter Bush and salvage something this weekend in blasting the Brewers.

Jon Garland is 10-2 in his career versus the Blue Jays and he’ll pitch the Angels past Toronto in this rubber game today. Both teams are playing well of late, but I like the Angels behind Garland (2.79 ERA last three starts after blanking the Tigers for 7 1/3 innings last start) to get the job done at home where they’re 36-17 in their last 53 versus teams with winning records. The Jays’ A.J. Burnett (5-5, 4.57) has a career ERA of 4.15 against the Halos. Garland has already beaten the Jays once this year and he’ll do it again today at home.

Sal Conti's Picks of the Day

Lets get some of our cabbage back with the Sunday Night game. We go 5 - 3 for the week on Max 10 yet the bankroll stands at + 7. How? 4 - 0 leading to the bankroll move that won followed by 0 - 3 Max10s. Big winner tonight, we can end on a plus eight with this win. The Mets host the Dodgers for their last regular season trip to Shea Stadium. The Mets have won four of their last five after hitting bottom as a team on their preceding road trip. Johan Santana helped stop the bleeding shutting out the Marlins for seven to get the Mets a much needed win. One reason Santana will be going for personal career win number 100 is he strikes out three times as many as he walks, the knock on him is allowing home runs. He does give them up but they are usually solos! Hiroki Kuroda is 2 - 4 with a 3.29 ERA on the year, the Mets roughed him up when they saw him earlier this year. Kuroda has kept the Dodgers in the games he has started however the Dodgers are 3 - 21 in games where they score three runs or less. Johan Santana will hold LA to three runs or less tonight and Kuroda will be saddled with another loss because of it as the Mets continue their roll at home. MAX10 UNITS: N.Y. METS

Michael Jame's Picks of the Day

Red Sox vs. Orioles

What have I been telling you about these Boston Red Sox? I have told you that no team in the major leagues is more up and down than the Red Sox. You say Michael, what do you mean the Red Sox are up and down, they are the best team in the league. Well not so fast. Sure on paper they are the best team, but they no longer have the best record and their road record is downright dreadful.

Sure the Red Sox love Fenway. They have sellouts for every game, bean town goes while and they sure win at home. 21-5 in their own building is something that is very very impressive. Well, even worse is the fact this team has already lost 19 road games. 19!!! They are now 12-20 on the road. They have not played world beaters in these games folks. This is a team that should win anywhere. They are now 239 in their last twelve road games.

The fact they send out a re-tread today only helps our case. I know Colon has won a few games and shut down the Mariners. He is now pitching against a line-up that hits right handers and is much more complete than most think. The Orioles will win this one in a laugher and we get them at a top price.

Orioles +130

Yankees vs. Twins

The Darrell Rasner story is a nice one. This is a pitcher that has really worked on his stuff and has come up to the bigs this year and done a very nice job. Even a Hollywood producer wouldn’t say he would be Sandy Koufax.

This is a guy who has pitched 25 innings and allowed just three earned runs. What is even more impressive are his three walks. Let’s dig a little deeper though folks. This is a pitcher who has struck out just 14 batters in over 25 innings worth of a ball. He also has never won more than three games in his life (Dating back to 2005). I do think he is decent but his luck will run out in the metro dome today.

With the Yankees pen spent from last night and Joba starting Tuesday look for the Twinkies to take care of business in the later innings as the bloom will come off the rose.

TWINS +120

Braves vs. Reds

Did yesterday teach you nothing? I talked yesterday at length about the struggles of the Braves. Not only did I talk about their struggles but I locked in on two key factors. Factor one is their awful play on the road. The Braves yesterday amazingly enough picked up their 20th road loss of the season. They are just 7-20 on the road. Does it really matter how well they play in Atlanta?

The second key factor was their bullpen. They do not have a legit closer or a bullpen. Their two top bullpen guys are out. Mike Gonzalez is a top pitcher on the DL who throws from the left side and John Smoltz the ageless wonder will be returning to the bullpen in due time.

Remember that Mr. Cueto is actually a higher rated prospect that Volquez. I look for this guy to be one of the few guys that can shut the Braves offense down. Jay Bruce, Dunn and company will due enough to win at home again in this afternoon matinee.

REDS +125

Brian King's Picks of the Day

DETROIT AT SEATTLE - 4:10 PM, ET

Seattle finally throws the TIGER off their back yesterday shutting out Detroit at Safeco field after losing all four of their previous games against the Tigers by a combined 37-18, I was against them yesterday but not today as Detroit is throwing Kenny Rogers. Rogers is coming off of his longest outing of the year, a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to the L.A. Angels in extra innings. Prior to that performance the 43 year old Rogers had given up four or more runs in six of his previous eight starts. In his last 3 starts at Safeco he is 0-3 with a 4.82 ERA and in his last start against Seattle he gave up four runs in a Tigers win. The Tigers have lost four of their last six scoring only three runs in the losses. Look for the Tigers losing ways to continue today at Safeco as Miguel Batista gets back on track after a strong showing against Boston on Tuesday which the M's won 4-3.

SEATTLE +130 (5 DIMES)

BOSTON AT BALTIMORE (MLB) - 1:35 PM, ET

Boston will likely be without DH David Ortiz who sprained his wrist in Boston's win on Saturday. This can't be good for a Red Sox team that was already struggling on the road with their hitting. Baltimore, losers of three in a row, have to be sick of hearing Red Sox fans cheering in their house. Despite being in a position to win in Game 1 of the series they rolled over and let the Red Sox take two in a row from them. Brian Burress goes for the Orioles who is coming off a poor performance against the Yankees and historically bounces back from such poor games. Burress beat Boston on May 11th in his first career start against them. Bartolo Colon has started strong for the Red Sox but that ends today when the Orioles put it to him at Camden.

BALTIMORE +120 (5 DIMES)

CHICAGO AT TAMPA BAY (MLB) - 7:10 PM, ET

I am so sick of this Tampa Bay story. Someone hit me over the head with a 2x4 already. These kidsa are playing out of their heads and have shut down Chicago two in a row. How would you like to be a fly ont he wall in Ozzie Guillen's clubhouse? While Chicago's bats have been silenced they have done the same to the Devil Rays playing them close in both losses. The series stands at 3 games each on the season and I look for Chicago to take the rubber match for the first 7 games between these two teams in 2008. The White Sox have been getting guys on base but not producing in those situations. Look for that to turn around tonight. The first two times Buerhle and Sonnanstine faced each other in Chicago Buerhle took the loss in his worst outing of the year. Sonnanstine was the total opposite. Look for role reversal today as Chicago starts June off with an explosion after a May that saw them average only 3.7 runs per game. After leaving 16 runners on base the last two games look for the Sox to be clearing the bases tonight with timely hitting when runners are on.

CHICAGO -105 (5 DIMES)

Gina

Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals

Both teams will be lighting up the scoreboard. Pittsburgh's starter Ian Snell (2-4, 5.46 ERA) is coming off a disaster. The right-hander allowed seven runs over five innings in a 9-6 lost to the Reds on Tuesday and St. Louis starter Braden Looper (6-4, 5.05 ERA) also had a horrible outing in his last start. The right-hander allowed eight runs over 4 1/3 innings in an 8-2 loss to the Astros on Tuesday. The Pirates have been hot at the plate, especially against the Cardinals and with these two right-handers on the hill expect a high scoring contest. Go with the over. The total has gone over in six of the last 9 meetings, five of the last 7 in St. Louis.

Pittsburgh/St. Louis Over - 9

MR A's

Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Mets

Take the New York Mets for a four-game sweep of the Dodgers. New York has won six of the last eight contests versus Los Angeles at Shea Stadium and will send their ace Johan Santana to the mound. The lefty is 3-1 with a 4.23 ERA in his last four starts and the Mets have won seven of Santanas last 8 starts. The LA Dodgers continue to struggle. They have dropped five of their last six games and are just 1-6 in their last 7 road games. Los Angeles counters with Hiroki Kuroda, who is 1-2 with a 2.30 ERA in his last four starts. The Dodgers have lost four of the right-handers last 5 starts on the road.

New York Mets - 165
