Big Juice GOM

I'm laying the price with CHICAGO. The Rays have managed to win the first two games of this series but recording the sweep in this afternoon's finale is NOT going to be easy. For starters, the Rays haven't swept a 3-game road series against an American League opponent all season. Additionally, they've never swept a 3-game series here in Chicago before. This isn't just any old White Sox team either. Despite dropping the first two games, this year's Sox are still an impressive 45-21 at home for the season. This isn't just any old pitcher the Rays will have to contend with either. It's veteran southpaw Mark Buehrle, who has quietly been getting it done this entire millennium. This season, Buehrle has gone 8-3 with a 3.06 ERA and 1.177 WHIP in 13 home starts. The Sox, who average 5.9 runs per game in this park, were 10-3 (+5.6) in those games. Buehrle's numbers compare favorably to Sonnanstine's. In 12 road starts, Sonnannstine has a 4.24 ERA. It's true that the Rays won both Sonnannstine's earlier starts against Buehrle. They both came at Tampa though and the Rays' righthander has never started here at Chicago. The fact that Sonnannstine is a right-hander and Buehrle is a southpaw also works in Chicago's favor here. The Sox are hitting .273 and averaging 5.3 runs per game vs. right-handers. On the other hand, the Rays are batting only .245 and averaging 3.9 runs vs. left-handers. Behind a big game from Buehrle, look for the Sox to bounce back with a much needed victory. *Big Juice GOM

LEGEND Play-MLB (highest-rated play!)

My LEGEND Play is on the Chi White Sox at 2:05 ET. The Rays entered this big series with the White Sox having gone just 13-24 all-time in Chicago. However, as everyone knows by now, things a very different this year for the Rays! Tampa has won the first two games of this series 9-4 (Friday) and 5-3 (Saturday), to improve its overall record to a major league-best 79-49, while giving the team its biggest lead in the AL East all season (5 1/2 games over the Red Sox). Can the Rays now complete their first-ever sweep of the White Sox in Chicago? Why not, they've done seemingly everything else this year? However, I'm betting they don't! The pitching matcup is very interesting. Going for Tampa is second-year player Andy Sonnanstine, while Chicago counters with veteran lefty, Mark Buehrle. Sonnanstine is an interesting study. He went 6-10 with a 5.85 ERA last year in 22 starts (team was 7-15) but this year enters this game 13-6 with a 4.37 ERA in 25 starts. Despite owning the highest ERA of any of Tampa's five-man starting rotation, he's the team leader in wins and at plus-$894 vs the moneyline, is the team's second-biggest "money-maker" (Shields is plus-$938), as well as ranking 13th in all of MLB among starters. He's already faced the White Sox twice this season, posting a 1.84 ERA (he's 1-0 and the Rays won both games). However, winning again here, is too much to ask. Tampa's wins on Friday and Saturday give them 11 in its last 14 on the road but even that hot streak only has them 31-30 on the road for the year. In comparison, the White Sox entered this series on a six-game home winning streak and even with the back-to-back losses, the White Sox are 45-21 at U.S. Cellular Field this year, outscoring opponents 5.84-to-4.07 RPG. Against righties, they are 29-15 at home and that includes a superb 12-4 mark in day games, where they've averaged 6.94 RPG. Now let's get to Mark Buehrle. Buehrle became a regular part of Chicago's rotation back in 2001 and over a seven-year stretch (entering this year), won 103 games. He won at least 16 games in four of those seasons, with a single-season career high of 19 in 2002. He'll enter this game on a three-game winning streak, which leaves him 11-10 with a 3.91 ERA on the season. As he's been his whole career, Buehrle's been very good at home, going 8-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 13 starts (team is 10-3). Buehrle was Chicago's starteting pitcher in each of Sonnanstine two starts vs the White Sox this year and in Sonnanstine's only other start vs the White Sox (a 5-3 Chicago win at Tampa last year), was also Sonnanstine's opponent. This will be the first time Sonanstine has faced the White Sox in Chicago and he'll face a team desperate to avoid the dreaded home sweep and one with a crafty veteran on the mound. Chicago wins this one and it will be easy! LEGEND play on the Chi White Sox.

INDIAN COWBOY COMP

TAMPA BAY RAYS vs CHICAGO WHITESOX
Play: Tampa Bay / Whitesox Under 9.5

Drays beat the Wsox 5-3 yesterday, Sonnanstine has won back to back starts, he beat the Whitesox both times out this year and is 1-0 in 2 starts against them, Buehrle did win his last start despite having nearly an 8 era as his team won 13-5, he has won his last 3 starts overall, the Devil Rays have beat him both times out this year, those were both road starts though, Buehrle is 8-3 at home though where he is rock solid, usually after a 5+ era, Sonnanstine comes back with a bounce-back, having said that Buehrle will look to do better than his last start, not to mention his 2 questionable road starts against TB, if anything a lean on the under here.Bottom line here is I think that Buehrle is a rock at home where he has done well, he had 2 losses to TB on the road and now gets to face them at home and Sonnanstine usually comes back strong after a 5+ era win or lose, I understand that any game with the Whitesox is a bit scary for the total for an under, but I will take my chances here and just roll with my math, Under is 5-0 when the Drays allow 5 runs or more in the previous game, under is 4-1 for Sonnanstine in his last 5 starts and under is 6-0 for the Whitesox when they face a winning team at home, meaning in a playoff type atmosphere, the competition rises and the under is more likely to hit.

3Daily Winners

Minnesota Twins vs. LAA Angels
Play: LAA Angels

Look for the Los Angeles Angels to earn a split with Ervin Santana on the mound at the Big A. The Angels bats finally awoke last night and they are 21-6 against the money line after batting .240 or worse over a 10-game span this season. Additionally, Santana and the Halos are 14-3 vs. teams whose hitters strike out six or less times a game and equally impressive 22-8 when facing a team with a winning record in the second half of the season. Angels are heavenly choice this afternoon.
