15 Dime –

WHITE SOX (With Floyd as listed pitcher)

Take the White Sox for the road win tonight over the Orioles.

I like what I’ve seen so far from Chicago’s starter, Gavin Floyd. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA in his first two starts and will be facing a weak Orioles team.

The White Sox have been rolling, winning nine of their last 12 games. The Orioles, on the other hand, have lost three of four.

The recent hot streak by the ChiSox has coincided with a strong showing by their pitchers, which have compiled a 0.80 ERA over the last five games, allowing just four runs.

The Orioles have lost their last two games, scoring just four runs.

Take the White Sox as they grab the road win.

10 Dime –

TIGERS (With Verlander as listed pitcher)

Take the Tigers as the road dog tonight for the win over the Indians.

Detroit’s offense has caught fire and the Tigers have finally shaken out of their early season slump as a result.

How about a three-game winning streak and scoring 30 runs during that span?

This is precisely what everyone envisioned when the Tigers added Miguel Cabrera and Edgar Renteria to an already formidable lineup. They destroyed C. C. Sabathia last night, and with Fausto Carmona struggling with his control through his first three starts, it could be another lopsided win for Detroit tonight.

Carmona has walked 17 batters in 16 1-3 innings this year, including eight in just 3 1-3 innings in his last start, a 7-3 loss to Oakland last Saturday. The A’s laid off his sinker, which kept dropping out of the zone, and you can expect the patient Tigers hitters to use the same approach tonight.

Justin Verlander will start for Detroit, and while he’s struggled to a 0-2 start, I like his chances of bouncing back tonight mainly because of how hot the Tigers’ bats are.

Take Detroit at the small plus return for the win.
