Marlins/Reds OVER

We've got a solid 'OVER" home plate Umpire going tonight in MIKE EVERITT.... already going Over at a 68% clip thus far in 2008. In fact, he has YET to go Under in ANY National League game so far this year.

Last night's game was weird. Neither team anticipated a wild 9th inning. The Reds were up 7-0 going into the final frame... but the Marlins exploded for 6 runs. Cincy won it in the bottom of the 9th (final score 7-6). So both bullpens come in very taxed. The Marlin's bullpen went 5 innings after Ricky Nolasco got touched-up early.

The OVER in this Cincy/Florida series is now 8-2 O/U in the last 10 meetings after last night's high-scoring outcome. Let's not forget that the Reds are taking on a Southpaw tonight... and they are hammering lefties on the year (.329 last 10 games).

MATT BELISLE comes n with a PERFECT 3-0 O/U record on the year.... with an ERA of 7.45... and a home ERA of over 10.00 (11.25). That's some solid OVER "ammo". He also went a PERFECT 2-0 O/U last season in two starts vs the Fish.

ANDREW MILLER also comes in with a PERFECT 3-0 O/U mark in his last 3 starts. Overall ERA on the year is 6.41.... and 7.79 in all NIGHT tome starts. He's been the unlikely beneficiary of some "OVER"-whelming run support as the Marlins have put up 34 runs in his last 4 starts (8.5 RPG in run support). Take the OVER.

Today's Pick: CINCINNATI REDS

I won with the Reds in each of the first three games of this series and I believe they have an excellent shot at completing their first 4-game sweep of the Marlins in nearly nine years. Both starting pitchers bring pretty ugly stats to the table. The Reds have at least won Belisle's last three starts against the Marlins though. More importantly, the Reds have the "momentum" in their favor. Not only have they won three straight but they come off an extra inning victory, via the walk-off home run last night. That came after the Marlins had scored six runs in the ninth to erase a 6-run deficit. That's an extremely disheartening way to lose and, as a result, I look for Florida to be 'flat' today. Consider a play on CINCINNATI.

1* on Chicago White Sox -107

The White Sox hitters are very familiar with Jon Garland since he was traded over to the Angels in the offseason from Chicago. The White Sox have the perfect scouting report on Garland, which really favors Chicago tonight. Plus, the White Sox throw the Ace of their staff in Javier Vasquez at the Angels today. Vasquez is 4-3 with a solid 3.63 ERA on the season. Vasquez owns a lifetime 2.95 ERA in 3 career starts against the Angels as well. The Angels are 8-18 (-12.3 Units) against the money line revenging a loss where the team scored 1 run or less over the last 2 seasons. Garland is 2-10 (-10.1 Units) against the money line after giving up 1 or less earned runs last outing over the last 2 seasons. Take the White Sox on the Money Line.

Mr. A's

Colorado Rockies at Arizona Diamondbacks
Take Arizona !

The struggling Rockies have dropped five of their last six games overall and seven of its last eight versus the Diamondbacks.

Colorado will send Aaron Cook (6-1, 2.26 ERA) to the mound. The right-hander has won six straight thus far this year and is 5-3 with a 5.09 ERA in 16 appearances, including 14 starts against the Diamondbacks. Arizona counters with Brandon Webb (8-0, 2.41). The right-hander has won all eight starts this season and is 10-7 with a 3.69 ERA, in 23 career appearances versus the Rockies.

Take the Diamondbacks at home with Brandon Webb at the controls. Colorado has lost five of their last six games on the road, four of the last five at Chase Field and dropped six of Cook's last eight starts versus Arizona.

Arizona Diamondbacks - 160

San Antonio Spurs - 7

Gina

New Orleans Hornets at San Antonio Spurs

The Hornets have dropped nine of the last 10 games in San Antonio, going 3-6 ATS. Look for the Spurs to tie this series tonight back on their home court. The home team has won all five games in this playoff series and the favorite is 5-0 against the spread.

San Antonio Spurs -7

Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies

The Braves have been a horror away from home, 6-15 this season, but Atlanta' Chuck James has played well against the Phillies. The southpaw is 2-0 with a 4.08 ERA in seven career appearances, including 6 starts against Philadelphia. The Braves have won four of James' last five starts versus the Phillies.

Atlanta Braves + 160

Dr. Bob Analysis

SAN ANTONIO (-7/184 total) vs New Orleans
The home team is 5-0 ATS in this series, but the Spurs should not be favored by 7 points in this game given that home court advantage in the playoffs is 4.2 points historically and that New Orleans is at least a point better than the Spurs on a neutral court (so San Antonio by 3 is fair line). However, the Spurs do apply to a solid 51-19-4 ATS situation and a 26-4-2 ATS subset of that situation applies. The line has been adjusted for the good situation that the Spurs are in and the negative line value cancels out the situation, so I have no opinion on the side, but I’ll lean with the Under at 183 points or more.

Johnny Guild

New Orleans Hornets at San Antonio Spurs

New Orleans has not been successful playing in San Antonio and was hammered in Games 3 and 4 of this series. They are 1-4 ATS in its last five games on the road.
Take the Spurs tonight at the AT&T Center to stay alive in this series against the youngsters from New Orleans. The home team has covered the last six.

Where’ the money! The favorite in this rivalry is 12-4 ATS in the last 16 clashes, 5-0 ATS in the playoffs.

San Antonio Spurs - 6.5

Bob Balfe

NBA Basketball
Hornets +7 over Spurs
The Spurs thought they had it rough trying to cover Chris Paul and now are getting rocked by David West. San Antonio had a halftime lead last game and again just looked horrible in the second half. This is a clear sign of aging. The Spurs may play their best game and force a game seven, but I do not see this being a blowout. It might just be that time to pass the torch to the Hornets. Take New Orleans.
