We’re heating up and getting on a roll as I’ve had 3 straight winning days. Tonight, I’m releasing my biggest play of the season here @ Antonwins.com!
2 Plays in baseball tonight.
Let’s get started.
LA Dodgers @ NY Mets (Penny v Vargas)
The Met’s are scratching and clawing and starting to turn it on offensively. They’ve won two straight contests and look to make it three vs. a Dodger team that is struggling mightily to score. The Dodgers will pitch Brad Penny. Folks, last year, I’d had backed him in a heartbeat vs. a young pitcher, even on the road. Not so this year. Penny has been in complete disarray from the start. He’s 0-9 with a 9.13 era in his last 4 starts! Brad is also 5-12 with a career 6.21 era vs. the Mets! He faced the Met’s earlier this season and was destroyed, pitching just 4 2/3, yielding 10 runs in a big loss. He’s just in horrible form and not much signs of improving. Vargas, on the other hand, has been decent. His last start he pitched a gem in Colorado, 7 innings, 2 runs and got the victory. L.A. has only scored 3 runs in their last 3 days, getting swept by the Cubs and are not hitting for any power at all. The Mets have shelled 11 homeruns and the bulk of the order have driven in 30 runs in the last week. Castillo and Wright are a sizzling .550 with 4 taters in past week of baseball. Reyes, Tatis and Chavez are a hot .332 with 5 dingers in the last week as well. It’s clear why this is a 3* play for me. The Mets are getting on a roll, facing a team with it’s head down and on the road again with a pitcher in horrible current form. The Mets will slap Penny around the ballpark and roll to the victory at home tonight!
Play on the New York Mets -129 for 3 units tonight!
Chicago @ Tampa Bay (Danks v Jackson)
These two teams enter tonight’s contest winning their last game. Tampa is no doubt a tough beat at home. We just need to get the right setup at the right price to do so. The White Sox will bring their new stud John Danks to beat Tampa Bay for the second time this season. He’s been electric of late and has a 3-4 3.00 era on the season. Danks is 2-0 all time vs. the Rays and this year was lights out in a winning performance allowing 0 runs. Edwin Jackson gets the nod for the Rays tonight. He gives up a walk for every two innings pitched. His last start vs. the White Sox, he gave up 6 runs in 4 1/3 inning loss at home. His control has been an issue and he’s easily flustered. Jackson’s last start, he gave up 3 runs and 5 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings. For the White Sox, Thome has been cool but still hammering home runs and for the season against the Ray’s he’s 5-11 with 2 homers and 6 rbi’s. Quentin is red hot at the plate as well going 6-16 with 2 long balls and 7 rbi’s in his last 4 games. Thome, Pierzynski and Quentin have also hit Jackson to a tune of .550 with 2 homers. I look for Danks to shut down the Ray’s again and once again rough handle Edwin Jackson as the Sox get the win down in Florida!
Play on the Chicago White Sox +116 for two units!

20* Play on Under Chicago White Sox/Tampa Bay at 7:10 ET. All signs point to an Under. Both starters, John Danks and Edwin Jackson, bring in sterling ERAs. Danks ERA on the road is just 1.76. Over Jacksons last three starts, his ERA is 2.08. Eight of the last ten meetings between these teams have gone Under. The last two times these teams met; the losing team was shutout. Thats worth noting because, since 1997, the Rays are 63-35 Under revenging a shutout loss. Tampa has also gone Under in 20 of 30 home games thus far in 2008. Danks has seen the Under cash in 8 of 10 starts this season, while Jackson has seen the same in 6 of 9. The Rays are averaging just 3.7 runs per game vs. lefties. Under White Sox/Tampa Bay is our 20* AL Total of the Month.
Scott Spreitzer's 25* MLB Wednesday Night GRAND SLAM! (*8-1 Run!)
I'm laying the short price with the Mets on Thursday. The Dodgers are in a world of hurt in tonight's matchup. They have a pitcher in Brad Penny who has lost his stuff, and the Dodger bats have gone ice cold. May has been a very tough month for the veteran Dodger hurler. In his last four starts, Brad Penny has been rocked for 24 earned runs and 42 base runners in just 23 2/3 IP. That adds up to a horrible, 9.11 ERA and 1.77 WHIP! Now, he has to try and right the ship against his personal worst nightmare...the NY Mets. Brad Penny is 5-12 lifetime against the Mets, sporting a hefty 6.21 ERA and .307 BAA! His numbers are even worse at Shea, where he's 1-9 in 11 starts. Proving that nothing has changed, the Mets rocked Penny for 10 earned runs in 4 2/3 innings earlier this month. Then there's the case of the Dodger bats. Los Angeles has scored a grand total of eight runs in their last six games. In fact, toss out a four run "outburst" on May 25, and the Dodgers have scored ONE run or less in five of their last six games. Claudio Vargas, off to a strong start with the Mets, should have little trouble with this slumping lineup. The line is too short as far as I'm concerned, and I'll back the Mets, my 25* Grand Slam.
