Take the Indians tonight for the road win over the Rangers.
I had the Tribe last night with Cliff Lee for my paying clients, and although Lee was less than spectacular the Indians prevailed 15-9.
I’m taking them again tonight as C.C. Sabathia will get the nod opposite Kevin Millwood.
Sabathia has had a rough go of it this year with a record of 3-7, but he has been pitching better lately. The left-hander has posted a 2.86 ERA over his last three starts, but a lack of run production has him 0-2 during that span.
Sabathia has also had good success against the Rangers in his career, going 7-2 with a 4.38 ERA in 12 games.
Millwood hasn’t been very good lately for the Rangers, going 1-1 with a 7.45 ERA over his last three starts. The right-hander has pitched just 9 2-3 innings over that span.
With the way Cleveland was swinging the bats last night I look for them to provide Sabathia with ample run support tonight.

The Lakers should not be an underdog here! They just blew through the Western Conference Playoffs going 12-3 so far. The Western Conference was LOADED this year. The Lakers are so good it didn't matter! The Celtics were stretched to 7 games by the Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavaliers. THE CELTICS DON'T STAND A CHANCE AGAINST LA!!!
Kobe Bryant will have a HUGE series. This is what he has been waiting for. He will be DOMINANT in Game 1. Kobe has something to prove and he will play with a chip on his shoulder. Remember, the Celtics don't have a Bruce Bowen to guard Kobe. Kobe might score 50 in Game 1! The Lakers have a much better bench and a better starting five! Boston struggles to score 90 a game. Their offense has been anemic. Ray Allen looks lost. Boston has no real point guard. Kevin Garnett is awesome, but he is not a go-to scorer. Paul Pierce often gives a lack-luster effort. Kobe wants this game! And he wants this series! Take the points and the Lakers!!!

Tampa Bay has dropped five of James Shields (4-3, 3.24 ERA), last 6 starts against the Red Sox. The right-hander is 1-3 with a 4.76 ERA in six career starts against Boston.
Boston is 8-2 in Jon Lester (3-3, 3.67), last 10 starts at home, and 5-0 at home versus the Rays. The lefty is 2-0 with a 4.71 ERA in five career starts against the Rays.

Take the Celtics minus the points in Game 1 over the Lakers.
There’s no question we’re seeing the two best teams in the NBA here, and I feel that the home court will give the Celtics the momentum they need to win and cover this small number.
I have a feeling Kevin Garnett is going to make life miserable for Pau Gasol in this game. I really think the Celtics have an advantage at both ends of the court in this matchup and I’m looking for that to be the difference tonight.
Boston’s inadequacies at home against the spread recently have resulted in a very manageable price here; so don’t let the negative trends scare you away. Where the line is set now, Boston basically has to win and they will get the cover.
The Celtics aren’t all bad when it comes to ATS numbers. Considering they are 5-1 ATS in their last six against the West, 7-2 ATS in their last nine at home against teams with a winning road record, 6-2 ATS in their last eight Thursday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven against the Pacific Division.

The matchup we have been waiting for tips off tonight. In the regular season Boston beat L.A twice holding them to around 90 pts per game. I think the Lakers offense is much improved and the Celtics on defense just are not as strong as they were in the regular season. Both teams are well rested and one of these teams are going to put up at least 100. Look for an exciting game one. Take the Over.
