Big Al's American League Total of the Month

At 8:10pm our selection is on the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals 'under' the total. White Sox veteran righthander Mark Buehrle looked like his old self through most of June, with a 4-0 record and 1.60 ERA in six starts for the third month of the season. But the wheels came off a bit in Buehrle's first start of July, as he gave up ten hits and three walks in less than six innings against Oakland on Independence Day. But with a guy like Buehrle, who has a history as a very smart and stingy pitcher, one outing like that can be excused and nobody would be surprised to see Buehrle return tonight with one of his patented eight-inning, one-or-two run starts against a very weak team that he has feasted on in the past. All this guy has done against their division rivals (if you can call Kansas City a 'rival') is go 16-6 with a 3.40 ERA lifetime along with an 8-4 record at tonight's venue, Kauffman Stadium. KC's 24-year-old Zack Greinke is one of the most underrated starters in all of baseball, having pitched all five of his Major League seasons with the Royals which of course results in a losing record (28-40) but along the way, Greinke has only had one season with an ERA over 4.3 runs. In 2008, Greinke is undefeated at home in six starts (3-0) with a 2.57 ERA. Greinke actually has a lower ERA on the season than his counterpart for the White Sox (3.67 vs. 3.91). American League Total of the Month on the 'under'.

Lenny Del Genio #1 MLB Total of the Month

TEX / ANA Under 9.5

Its been a bit of a role reversal thus far in this series as the Angles took the opener in a 9-6 slugfest (our 20* AL Game of the Month) while the Rangers have taken the last pair, both of which were low-scoring affairs. Regardless of who wins tonight, were expecting a pitchers duel. John Lackey has simply been lights out since returning from the DL, turning in a 6-2 mark with a 1.93 ERA. In five road starts to date, Lackey has allowed one earned run or less four times. His last road start saw him blank the Dodgers as he nearly went the distance. The Rangers Scott Feldman certainly isnt chopped liver either as Texas has won each of his last four starts as the right-hander hasnt yielded more than three runs in any of those outings. In fact, we find Feldman at 11-2 Under this season! Lackey is 9-1 Under in his ten starts and is a perfect 8-0 Under on the road in division play over the last two seasons. Furthermore, Texas is a perfect 7-0 Under this season at home coming off an underdog win at +130 or higher. Under LA Angels/Texas is our #1 MLB Total of the Month.
