Tigers vs. White Sox Picks & Predictions for Wednesday, July 23 2013
By ATSSportsline.com

CHICAGO, IL (ATS Consultants) – With their superstar third baseman dealing with a hip flexor injury, the Tigers will visit the White Sox tonight looking to build their lead in the American League Central.

ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tigers are -113 money line favorites for tonight’s game against the White Sox, who are +104 as a home underdog. With Rick Porcello set to face off against Hector Santiago in the pitching matchup, the over/under total is currently sitting at 8.5 runs.

LINE MOVEMENT: The White Sox opened as +117 money line underdogs but their line has been bet down to +104, while the Tigers’ odds have gone from -127 down to -113. Detroit enters play with a 54-44 overall record and is 25-25 on the road, while Chicago is 39-57 overall and 21-23 at home.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the current wagers placed on tonight’s game, 71% of the betting public currently favors Detroit. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most updated numbers.

MLB FREE PICK: Take Chicago. According to latest MLB trends, Detroit is: 1-4 in Porcello's last 5 Tuesday starts, 1-6 in Porcello's last 7 starts as a favorite of -110 to -150 and 1 5 last 6 following a win. Chicago White Sox are: 4-0 last 4 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Miguel Cabrera is the best hitter in baseball. He has 31 home runs and a .358 batting average but suffered a hip flexor on Monday and is doubtful to play.

That's a big loss for the Tigers, who need Cabrera for the long run so it's make no sense for them to force him out there against the White Sox.

That's good news for the White Sox who can now pitch around Prince Fielder. Santiago is a tough lefty and the Tigers are hitting 22 points lower against left-handed pitchers.

Hector Santiago (3-5, 3.30 ERA) also has a 1.64 ERA in seven appearances against the Tigers, although they are all in relief. Rick Porcello (6-6, 4.80 ERA) is 6-5 lifetime in 12 starts against the White Sox with a 4.92 ERA. He allowed six runs against the White Sox in his last two starts against the them including his last start on July 10.

Santiago has pitched well in his last three stars, recording a 2.28 ERA despite gaining three no-decisions. Santiago has given up three runs or less in 15 of his last 16 starts. Expect the Tigers to steal this one as a dog.

TUESDAY MLB FREE PICK: CHICAGO WHITE SOX +104
