Tuesday take the Giants at Shea.

I fully admit that we are not getting much value here at all as every single factor but one is going against us but that one is enough to make a little play here on the visiting Giants.

Mike Pelfrey has been much improved of late for the home Mets but Tim Lincecum has been thee single best pitcher in all of baseball this season. The guy was a future phenom who has all of a sudden turned that potential into a first half Cy Young award winner right before our eyes. He has nasty nasty stuff and on a poor San Francisco club has been insane winning game after game after game.

The Mets are the far better offensive club with much more bluechip talent like Reyes, Beltran and Wright and are at home unlike the G-Men who are a full 3,000 or so miles across the country.

But I will take my chances with the next great thing in Lincecum without having to lay a price. We may be behind the eight ball in every category but one but that one is monstrous and enough for me to back Bruce Bochy's boys.

JAKE TIMLIN

Tuesday selection is the San Francisco Giants.

Backing the best starter in the National League in Tim Lincecum I look for the Giants to seal a win in Shea Stadium tonight. After all anytime Lincecum takes the hill I always lean towards the Giants thanks to his 10-1 record which features an amazingly low 2.49 ERA. Even better on the highway it's Lincecum who becomes even stronger posting a 7-0 mark with a 1.71 ERA. Well thanks to Tim's amazing numbers and the fact that that fact the New York is nothing special this year I say take a chance on the Giants tonight as they have a better then 50/50 shot at winning.

All San Francisco!

The Twins have been playing very well lately, too, winning 18 of their last 22. They have not lost consecutive games since dropping a season-high six in a row June 5-10, but getting past Lester (7-3, 3.21 ERA) will likely be a challenge. The Red Sox have won six of Lester's last seven starts with the left-hander going 4-0 with a 2.38 ERA in his last six outings. Lester has been even better at Fenway lately, going 4-0 with a 1.24 ERA in his last six home starts - all wins. His only loss at home came on April 9 against Detroit.

Tampa Bay at NY YANKEES

Look for the Yankees to take care of the Rays here tonight. This is a mini two game set and a much more important set for the Yankees. New York was able to rest up after their tough series against the Red Sox. The Rays on the other hand had to sweat out an extra inning game yesterday in which they lost. The Rays haven’t been the same team on the road though. At home this team is 36-14. Top three in all of baseball playing on their home field. On the road they are just an average baseball team. This team is just 19-19 away and their pitching ERA is almost 2 runs higher. Sure they send out Scott Kazmir to the hill tonight but he falls in line with the rest of his team. At home 4-1 with a 1.96 ERA. On the road he is 3-2 with an ERA over 3.50. Don’t think the Yankees 2008 season is over. They will get the job done here in the Bronx with Pettitte who will keep their runners in check. Play the NY YANKEES

TIP OF THE DAY

Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees
Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays

The division rival Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees are set to renew hostilities on Tuesday when they meet at Yankee Stadium. The Rays will give the ball to ace starter Scott Kazmir in this one. Lefthander Kazmir is 7-3 this season with a 2.62 ERA. It'll be Andy Pettitte toeing the rubber for the Yankees in this contest. Lefthander Pettitte is 9-6 with a 4.22 ERA so far this season. Oddsmakers currently have the Rays listed as 110-moneyline favorites versus the Yankees, while the game's total is sitting at 8. The Rays lost to Kansas City 7-4 as a -180 favorite on Monday. The 11 runs scored went OVER the posted over/under total (8). Eric Hinske was 3-5 with a solo home run for Tampa Bay and Carlos Pena also smacked a solo homer. Brett Gardner drove in the winning run in the 10th inning on Sunday night as the Yankees topped the Red Sox by a score of 5-4. The Yankees were winners as -166 home favorites in that contest, while the combined score went just OVER the night's posted total (8.5). Current streak: New York has won 2 straight games. Team records: Tampa Bay: 55-33 SU New York: 47-42 SU Tampa Bay most recently: When playing on Tuesday are 3-7 Before playing NY Yankees are 6-4 After playing Kansas City are 4-6 After a loss are 7-3 New York most recently: When playing on Tuesday are 6-4 Before playing Tampa Bay are 5-5 After playing Boston are 5-5 After a win are 5-5 A few trends to consider: The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Tampa Bay's last 5 games when playing NY Yankees Tampa Bay is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games Tampa Bay is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games on the road The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Tampa Bay's last 5 games when playing on the road against NY Yankees The total has gone UNDER in 5 of NY Yankees's last 5 games when playing Tampa Bay The total has gone UNDER in 4 of NY Yankees's last 5 games when playing at home against Tampa Bay The total has gone UNDER in 7 of NY Yankees's last 10 games The total has gone UNDER in 8 of NY Yankees's last 12 games at home

Vernon Croy

Baltimore Orioles vs. Toronto Blue Jays
20 Unit MLB Bookie Buster of the Night
Pick: Blue Jays

20 Units, Take Toronto ML, This pick falls into one of my MLB systems and Dustin McGowan (6-7, 4.36) has pitched solid at home this season with an ERA of just 2.20 over 7 starts. The Jays bullpen has also been solid at home this season with an ERA of just 2.99 over 108.3 innings and McGowan is pitching with an extra days rest since his last outing was July.2. The Jays opponents are hitting just .233 against them at home this season while averaging just 3.6 rpg. The Orioles are just 6-12 in their last 18 games as a road dog +100 to +125 and they are just 19-27 on the road this season. Take Toronto as my MLB Bookie Buster of the Night as my 70-47 long term MLB run continues

ROBERT FERRINGO

4.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 8.5 Colorado at Milwaukee
Everyone is so excited about C.C. Sabathia that they may be overlooking this ripe total. Both of these lineups have been crushing the ball over the last week, hitting .300 and .296, respectively. We're also talking about two of the best teams in the league against left-handed pitching also. And, wouldn't you know, but guess which team C.C. Sabathia has his highest career ERA against (more then two starts) - that would be the Rockies. His ERA against Colorado is almost 7.00. And his counterpart, Mark Redman, is an absolute disaster. Redman's season ERA is 7.05, his road ERA is 9.82, and his ERA in his last three starts is 10.43. Mix in two pretty volatile bullpens and I think we have the makings of a barn burner.

3.5-Unit Play. Take Detroit (-1.5, +105) over Cleveland
Jeremy Sowers just really isn't very good. Neither are the Indians, for that matter. Sowers is 3-7 in his last 10 starts and is sporting a 7.53 ERA for the season. On the road he's 0-3 with a robust 9.50 ERA as well. Cleveland brass solidified what everyone in the organization already knew: this team stinks and isn't going anywhere. I'm looking for a bit of residual psychological impact and a lackluster effort today. The Indians are 7-23 in their last 30 road games and have dumped eight straight. Detroit is 43-19 in its last 62 games against a left-handed starter and is 20-8 overall. They cooled off a bit in Seattle, but I think home cooking is going to do a body good. Justin Verlander has struggled with Cleveland in his career, however he's 15-2 at home against a team with a losing record. He should add on to the Indians' misery today.

2-Unit Play. Take Los Angeles Angels (-135) over Texas
The Angels are 27-11 in Joe Saunders' last 38 starts and the Rangers are susceptible to excellent lefty pitching. Conversely, the Angels have been slamming left-handed pitching and will take their cuts against a spot starter today. I see another high-scoring affair, but the Angels will continue to dominate their division.

1.5-Unit Play. Take Toronto (-135) over Baltimore
Dustin McGowan has come back to earth a bit. But so has Dan Cabrera. Cabrera is 2-6 in his last eight outings and has dumped four of five road starts. He's coming off a complete game and I am always a fan of fading hurlers in that situation. The Blue Jays are another team that will be happy to be home after a rough West Coast swing and they should get some licks on Cabrera, who has given up 19 runs in his last 22 road innings.

1.5-Unit Play. Take Los Angeles Dodgers (-140) over Atlanta
The Braves are in a bit of turmoil right now and I like the way that Dodgers are playing. They have willed their way back into the N.L. West race and I think they will take this series over a subpar road team. Chad Billingsley continues to improve and Jair Jurrjens has not been as dominating on the road as he has been at home.

1.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 9.5 Houston at Pittsburgh
I'm looking for a lot of walks, a lot of bullpen arms getting rocked, and a lot of runs. You see this happen in football a lot: two bad teams get together for a meaningless game and neither team can stop the other. Both teams have solid offenses and I can see them unloading again today.

Below are four more underdogs that I think are ripe today. I'm on all four of these series and I can assure you that, just like our Florida play last night, these four SERIES will yield a profit. They are not for the faint of heart, but I've been tracking this underdog system all season and it's been pretty solid. I'm going to rate it and use it this week and am confident we can make it pay:

1.5-Unit Play. Take Kansas City (+110) over Chicago White Sox
1-Unit Play. Take Seattle (+180) over Oakland
1-Unit Play. Take Minnesota (+160) over Boston
1-Unit Play. Take San Francisco (+105) over New York Mets
