Oakland Athletics @ Los Angeles Angels Under 7.5

Tonight the Athletics look to snag two wins in a row from the Angels in Los Angeles and they will do so with left hander Greg Smith on the hill. The Angels will counter with their ace, John Lackey. We are going to go with the UNDER in this AL West division battle.

Oakland starter Greg Smith possesses a stellar 3.75 ERA and a respectable 1.33 WHIP. Despite his strong numbers, he is just 6-12 on the year due to Oakland’s offensive ineptitude. Smith has allowed an average of 2.6 runs per game in his last five away starts, but Oakland has produced an average of just 2.00 runs per game. Consequently, Oakland went 1-4 in those games and the under went 5-0.

Smith has three career outings against the Angels and the under is 2-0-1 in those starts. The southpaw has allowed Los Angeles just seven earned runs in total, and in his two starts at LA he has allowed a total of three earned runs. The average game score in his LA starts was 4.50.

John Lackey is having his usual solid year with a 3.09 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 10-2 record. Lackey is always tough at home and he has allowed just 2.5 earned runs per game in his last 10 home starts. In his last 10 starts against Oakland the under is 8-2 and the average game score was 5.8. In his last five goes at home against the A’s, Lackey has allowed just eight earned runs.

This should be a typical low scoring affair between these two teams.

Things to consider: Oakland has averaged just 2.7 runs per game in their last 10 road games. The Under is 13-1 in Greg Smith’s away starts and 20-3 on the season. The Under is 39-21 in Oakland road games and 52-30 in Oakland night games. The Under is 23-10 when LA faces a left handed pitcher and 13-7 when LA plays on a Tuesday. The Under is 12-6 in when John Lackey starts (2008 stat).

Take the UNDER 7.5

1 Unit on D-backs/Padres UNDER 7

With Webb on the hill, you can bet that the Pads won't be scoring many runs. With both teams playing at pitcher friendly Petco, I don't think we'll see more than 3 runs scored by the winning team - very similar to yesterday's game which ended up 4-2. The Under is 5-1 in Webb's last 6 starts vs. the Padres, 4-1 in Webb's last 5 starts overall, and 4-0-1 in the Diamondbacks last 5 overall. The Under is 8-2 in the Padres last 10 home games, 10-4 in Padres last 14 when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game, and 4-0 in Padres last 4 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Bet the UNDER.

Toronto Blue Jays at Tampa Bay Rays
Play On: Tampa Bay Rays -115

As good as Roy Halladay has been for the Blue Jays, he hasn't helped them beat the Rays in three starts. Tampa Bay is 9-3 against Toronto this season, and Halladay is 0-3 with a 5.32 ERA versus the Rays. The Rays are hitting .277 this season against Halladay.

James Shields has been impressive against Toronto, going 2-1 with a 2.53 ERA in three starts this season. Shields is 4-0 lifetime in five home starts against Toronto. The Rays are an incredible 13-1 in Shields' home starts this season. Shields owns a 2.21 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and .262 OOBP at Tropicana Field this season. The Rays are 18-4 in Shields' last 22 home starts vs. a team with a winning record and 5-0 in Shields' last 5 home starts vs. the Blue Jays.

The Rays are 10-1 in their last 11 games following a loss and 43-11 in their last 54 home games. The Rays are also 7-1 in their last 8 games following an off day. The Blue Jays are 3-10 in the last 13 meetings and 1-7 in the last 8 meetings in Tampa Bay.

Take Tampa Bay

THE BOOKIE PAYS YOU ? 😡

=========================================================

The Angels cost us three in a row last night by only putting up ONE run!
But... They won't do that twice. We're talking about the ABSOLUTE BEST
team in the big leagues. I personally GUARANTEE that the Angels score
more than one run tonight. I'm telling you that even though they let us down
last night, we're going to give them a chance to redeem themselves tonight.
Bottom Line... John Lackey + Oakland lineup = Angels WIN. **** Thanks.

Tony Karpinski

Texas Rangers vs. Kansas City Royals
Play: Over

Both teams are struggling mightily, but hitting the snot out of the ball. Texas is 4-13 in their L17, and Kansas City 2-11 in their L13 games. That said, with Millwood and Greinke on the bump, you can expect plenty of runs and hits once again. Look for 10-13 runs scored in this battle tonight. Play on the OVER

John Ryan

Oakland Athletics vs. LAA Angels
Play: Oakland

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Oakland A’s – Been focusing extensive time on the AiS and the results it has for Thursday’s College Football action – which is quite strong – so the reports for baseball will be briefer than usual. Supporting this graded play is a system that has gone 56-44 making 53.1 units since 1997. Play against all favorites with a money line of -110 or higher that is off a loss to a division rival as a favorite of -200 or higher and starting a pitcher who gave up 1 or less earned runs last outing. Here is a second system that has gone 61-49 making 51.3 units since 1997. Play against any team off a loss to a division rival as a favorite of -200 or higher and starting a pitcher who gave up 1 or less earned runs last outing. Anaheim starter Lackey is almost always in the favorite role, but many times this has become a false favorite. Note that he is 14-18 and losing a significant 16.5 Units against the money line in home games versus an AL team with an on base percentage .320 or worse over the last 2 seasons. Take the A’s in the upset.

PRICELESS PICKS

1 Unit on Minnesota Twins -168

The Mariners are 4-12 in their last 16 overall and 1-7 in their last 8 vs. the American League Central. Minnesota went down in extras yesterday, but it will bounce back here as the Twins know they need to take advantage when playing lesser opponents down the stretch. The Twins are an awesome 18-3 in their last 21 games vs. a left-handed starter so Rowland-Smith doesn't have much of a chance against this lefty-crushing club tonight. Take the Twins.

Wunderdog

Oakland at Los Angeles Angels
Pick: Game Total UNDER 7.5-120

The wheels have really come off for the A's as they are just 9-29 over their last 38 games. The reason is quite simple - they don't score! They have scored just 106 runs in their last 38 games, or 2.8 a game. The Angels offense has suddenly gone cold as well plating just 34 runs in their last 11, or three runs a game. Now they face a hot pitcher in Greg Smith who has a 1.72 ERA in his last three starts. The A's must face John Lackey, who is amongst the AL Leaders in ERA. Lackey has allowed three runs or less in 14 of 18 starts, and this game looks to be similar to last night's 2-1 score, so we will play UNDER here.

Chip Chirimbes

CHICAGO CUBS

Carlos Zambrano bounced back from two sub-par outings his last time out. He's endured very few rough starts while pitching in Pittsburgh. The Chicago ace looks to help the first-place Cubs to a fourth straight victory and continue their dominance over the struggling Pirates on Tuesday night at PNC Park. After giving up 14 earned runs in 10 1-3 innings over his previous two starts, Zambrano (13-5, 3.29 ERA) overcame a sore tooth and four walks to allow a run and six hits in seven innings of Chicago's 3-2 win over Cincinnati on Thursday - his first victory in four starts. While Zambrano has done that more often than not, he continues to be a force at the plate after homering against the Reds to extend his hitting streak to seven games he's started with four homers and 13 RBIs this season. Back on the mound, Zambrano looks to continue his success at PNC Park where he is 6-1 with a 3.47 ERA in 11 starts. The right-hander is 10-5 with a 3.47 ERA in 21 starts overall versus the Pirates, including 1-0 in three outings this season.
