5* NY Yankees at Braves
Have to back the powerful visiting offense here. A reliable start goes for NY, which is a key with this team, because the offense is loaded, ranked 2nd in the AL in runs, first in slugging an even 5th in steals. The slumping Atlanta offense has never faced hard throwing Joba Chamberlain before (3-2, 3.89 ERA). Atlanta won a series Monday in a make-up game with the Cubs, but take a closer look: The Braves have gone 1-5-3 in their last nine series. And this is a tough stretch, facing the Yankees, Boston Red Sox and defending champion Philadelphia Phillies over the next 9 days. This Atlanta offense has struggled all season, ranked 11th in the NL in runs and 9th in OBP. Have to back the talented and balanced visitors. Play the NY Yankees.

15 Dime Tigers - The line mistake is giving the Cubbies and Rich Harden too much respect. Detroit should be a bigger favorite with right-handed rookie Rick Porcello on the bump tonight.
Love this kid in this situation tonight, as Porcello comes in after allowing three runs - only one of them earned - over 5-2/3 innings against the Cardinals last Thursday in St. Louis.
He struck out three, walked two and produced a one-run lead for the Tigers' bullpen, while earning his eighth victory in 13 starts. He is now 2-1 in four June starts and has allowed just two earned runs in his last two outings.
On the flipside, the run support should be there in facing Harden, who wasn't sharp at all against the Indians in his last start. He surrendered two three-run home runs among the seven hits he allowed in five innings; he simply didn' have command and struggled in getting ahead in the count. He's been leaving the ball up a lot this season, and it's costing him and the Cubs plenty.
That will be the case today.
5 Dime - Cardinals - Told you about Las Vegas-product Brad Thompson in his last start, and here we are again backing him on the road. He received solid run support from the Cardinals' offense his last time out and earned his second win of the year. After giving up a leadoff homer in the first, Thompson settled down and allowed just one run through the next five innings. Though he gave up another homer in the seventh and left after allowing four runs in seven innings, it was enough for the Cardinals to do the rest and preserve the win. With only a few more opportunities to start for Thompson, who's spent more time in the bullpen than anywhere else, he'll make the most of this one in the Big Apple.
5 Dime - Dodgers - Can you feel it???? It's Manny-mania, and while Manny Ramirez is busy in Albuquerque, the Dodgers are gearing up for his return to the lineup the first week of July. All this time without him, and the Dodgers are still the best team in baseball, imagine that. Tonight I like Randy Wolf, who is hungry for a win after coming away from his most recent start with another no-decision, he now has 10 of them. Nevertheless, the southpaw still produced another quality start, allowing one run in six innings, while stranding five runners in scoring position. The Dodgers have won seven of his past eight starts. Play the road team in this one.

1000♦ - NY Yankees w/Chamberlain over Kawakami
You seriously have to wonder what is wrong with the Yankees? Here is a team that sports a payroll of $200-million or so, and they can't win to save their lives these days!
The just lost 2 of 3 to Washington, 2 of 3 to Florida, and were blanked last night by the Braves 4-0, as the Yankees losing streak stands at 3 in a row.
The Braves win also marked the 1st time since the 2005 season they pitched back-to-back shutout wins.
That all changes tonight, as Joba Chamberlain is 3-0 on the road this season, with a 2.72 ERA. He will pitch the Yankees past the Braves and Kenshin Kawakami tonight at the Ted.
Kawakami is just 4-6 for the season with an ERA of 4.42, and tonight he faces a New York team that is well overdue for some runs.
Lay the road wood, as the Yanks notch the victory.
500♦ - Milwaukee w/Looper over Blackburn
Nick Blackburn twirled a complete game win with just 1 run allowed over Pittsburgh his last time out, and his team did open this 3 game set against the Brewers with the 7-3 win last night. Still, prefer to side with the Brewers here, as Minnesota is still only 12-21 on the road this year.
Milwaukee has lost all 4 interleague meetings this year to the Twinks, and Braden Looper did suffer one of those losses, allowing 4 runs in 6 innings of work on May 23rd.
Looper gets some revenge tonight, as he is 3-1 at home this season, and with 4 losses in a row on their side, you could say the "due theory" applies to the Brewers this Wednesday night.
Take Milwaukee.
