Game: Seattle SuperSonics at Houston Rockets
Prediction: Seattle SuperSonics

Reason: Seattle is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning record. The SuperSonics are also 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Southwest opponents. The Rockets are coming home from a 7-day road trip and don't expect them to be very sharp. In their last 5 games in this situation they are 1-4 ATS. Houston has won 6 of the last 7 meetings between the clubs but they haven't done very well at the window. Seattle is 5-1-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings and they will cover this big line tonight. Play on the SuperSonics +.

Selection: New Orleans Hornets -9.5

Today the New Orleans Hornets will be on the road as they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. We will lay the points with the New Orleans Hornets! One reason why the New Orleans Hornets should be able to get a blowout win is because they have the much better offense and defense. In other words, the New Orleans Hornets should have no problem controlling this game from start to finish. In addition, the New Orleans Hornets have proven they can beat the Minnesota Timberwolves. In fact, the New Orleans Hornets are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 meetings against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Lay the points! Take the New Orleans Hornets -9.5

TONY WESTON

Now, we switch gears and focus on some National League action between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Recently Arizona has dominated this series, having gone 8-3 against Los Angeles in their last 11 games and 5-1 in their last six meetings, including victories in each of their last two games.

Hiroki Kuroda is scheduled to get the start for the Dodgers today. And, I had a chance to watch Kuroda recently and was impressed with his stuff. However, Kuroda pitched a three hitter against the San Diego Padres in his Big League debut. But that was against a Padres team that has no real pop.

Now he'll face an Arizona team that?s been tearing the cover off the ball lately. Over their last five games the Diamondbacks have averaged nearly eight runs a game and have scored less than seven only once in that five-game stretch.

Kuroda will get shelled by this Arizona team that?s already put up 19 runs in the first two games against the Dodgers.

Take the Diamondbacks at home.

2* DIAMONDBACKS (1* to 5* Scale)

Chicago White Sox -135

Toeing the rubber for Ron Gardenhire?s Twins in Game 2 will be Scott Baker who threw a gem in his first start of the year against Kansas City. He went 6 1/3rd innings allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out two. However, he?s been roughed up by the White Sox in his career going 1-2 with a 9.14 ERA in five career starts.

Also coming off a fabulous start is the White Sox John Danks who was almost unhittable in his first start of the season against the Cleveland Indians. Danks turned it over to the bullpen after 6 2/3rd innings of two-hit ball, and it came through allowing the lefty to pick up his first win of the season. In his career against Minnesota, Danks is 1-2 with a 5.63 ERA.

These clubs split their 18 games a season ago, and the over went 10-6-2. The Twins are 2-7 SU in their L/9 overall meetings and 1-5 SU their L/6 trips to the Windy City. The over has been money recently cashing in 10 of their L/14 overall meetings, and in 5 of their L/8 meetings in Chicago

Wunderdog

Colorado at Minnesota
Pick: Minnesota -130

Colorado missed the postseason for the first time since moving to Colorado last season. They are back and so are some of their old stars including Avs legend Peter Forsberg. But will it be enough? This is not the same Forsberg that won championships in 1996 and 2001, or the same Avs. Forsberg is older and hobbled by a groin injury. Minnesota won their first division title and they will be motivated, looking to atone for a first-round exit last season. Colorado has always been very good at home but the road is a different story. 27-14 at home, they were just 17-24 on the road this season, scoring a paltry 2.5 goals per game. Minnesota's defense was awesome all season at home (2.2 goals per game allowed). Colorado is 0-9 this seaon on the road off a home win in which they scored 4+ goals. We like Minnesota here.

Play UNDER the total in San Jose vs Calgary

The Sharks and Flames figure to feature some hard hitting and some stellar goaltending and this should certainly help to keep both offenses in check for much of this series. It all starts with Game 1 in San Jose on Wednesday night in what should be a grueling grudge match. The Flames took three of four from the Sharks in the regular season but San Jose finished up the season as one of the hottest teams in the league. That being the case, Calgary knows that their best opportunity at notching an upset in one of these two first round games (on the road in San Jose) is to slow the game down and allow their goalie, Miikka Kiprusoff, to have a shot at shutting down the Sharks. Kiprusoff got the better of the Sharks Evgeni Nabokov the last time these two squared off in a playoff series. As a result, you can certainly expect Nabokov to bring his A game to this series and what a game that is! Nabokov is simply a fantastic goalie and easily one of the best in the league right now. Look for him to be successful in holding down the Flames here while at the same time the Sharks offense will struggle against a Calgary team that will have no qualms about getting physical with this big San Jose club. The Sharks are now built for the playoffs but the Flames know how to get physical too. Also, the absence of San Jose defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, 21 assists this season, takes away a solid player from the Sharks. He missed practice yesterday and is expected to miss this game tonight. His absence will help the Flames to keep this game tight and a 2-1 game is what should be expected here. The beauty of the total posted on this game is thats its a full 5 goals so even if both teams happen to get to two goals (which is not likely), a 3-2 final score (and a corresponding push with this play) would be the end result. Value can be had with the UNDER 5 in this game and that is the play in Game 1 of this series.

Phoenix at San Antonio

San Antonio is in a 61-29 ATS System that says to Play On favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points if they have revenge from a loss where they were a road favorite if they are now playing their second game in five days. The Spurs are 25-11 ATS after scoring 40 points or less in the first half of two straight games. Phoenix is 10-24 straight up at San Antonio and they are 3-7-1 ATS off a double digit win. The Suns are 0-5 ATS their last 5 games as road dogs and they are 0-4-1 ATS their last 5 games when playing with no rest. PLAY ON SAN ANTONIO -

Priceless Picks

1 Unit on Hornets/Timberwolves UNDER 203.5

The Under is 5-0 in the Hornets last 5 vs. the Western Conference, 11-4-1 in the Hornets last 16 vs. the NBA Northwest, and 4-1 in the Hornets last 5 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. The Under is 4-1 in the Timberwolves last 5 vs. the NBA Southwest and 5-2 in the Timberwolves last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Hornets are coming off a terrible performance last night and while I expect better tonight, I don't expect either team to be over the century mark. Take the UNDER.
