Denver at LA Lakers -8

Tonight we will lay the points with the Lakers to handle the Nuggets once again.Sure Denver has a team that can light up the scoreboard, but as we pointed out with our Sunday comp play winner on the Lakers, the Nuggets just play no defense, and that just won't cut it at this time of the year!Los Angeles took Game One by 14-points, as they have now won ALL 4 meetings against Denver this season, and more importantly have covered ALL 4 meetings against the Nuggets.Denver played a close first half against LA on Sunday, trailing by just 2 at the break, but in this league you have to play all four quarters, and with Denver's defense sorely lacking, you just know there is going to be a massive run the Lakers will go on at some point in tonight's game, and salt it away against the spread.

Play on the Lakers.

Joel Tyson

Denver at LOS ANGELES -7'

The Los Angeles Lakers look to build a two game to none lead tonight as they take on the Denver Nuggets once again here in the Staples Centre. The Lakers cruised to a first game win by a score of 128-114. The win was the Lakers fourth straight over the Nuggets, which accounts for all match ups between these two so far this season. Not only have the Lakers beaten this Nuggets team all four times this year; they have done so by an average of 15.75 ppg. With this being said we will lay the points here and back the Lakers to take care of business against this Nugget team. The Lakers have won nine of their last ten SU, and in this series with Denver the home team has cashed in 13 of the last 18 match ups. Look for the Lakers to continue this trend tonight as they get the win and cover.

Lenny Del Genio's 15* Pitching Mismatch GOW (6-1 L2 days)

Play on San Diego at 10:05 ET. Greg Maddux gets his second crack at win #350 and he'll get it tonight going against the horrible Matt Cain of San Francisco, who has seen the Giants lose all ten of his starts in the road underdog role. That's just part of the problem, of course, as Cain has seen his team lost 27 of his last 36 starts overall! He hasn't won a game since last August a span of nine starts. His ERA over his last three starts is 9.20. San Francisco is coming off a sweep at the hands of Arizona. Maddux has dominated the Giants, owning a 16-4 mark vs. them since 1997 and has an ERA of 2.41. Padres will happy to return home after a 1-5 road swing. San Diego is our 15* Pitching Mismatch Game of the Week.

Lenny Del Genio's 15* MLB Dog of the Week (6-1 L2 Days)

Play on Arizona at 10:10 ET. We have no choice but to jump on Dan Haren and the D'backs at this price. Haren has never lost to the Dodgers (two starts) nor has he ever lost in the National League (four starts). Needless to say, he's made a much smoother transition to the Senior Circuit than has former teammate Barry Zito. Arizona crushed LA earlier this month, sweeping them and outscoring them 23-11 over the three games. That's just a part of the D'backs 13-3 mark against division foes this season. While the Dodgers Derek Lowe is also off to a solid personal star, he isn't getting the type of run support Haren is as Dodger Blue, who is 13th in the NL with just 83 runs scored total. After getting 11 runs of support in his lone victory, he has gotten just two in his other three outings. Haren has benefited from a ML best 29 runs. Arizona is our 15* MLB Dog of the Week!

Sports Lock

Los Angeles Angels vs. Boston Red Sox

The Los Angelas Angels will send John Garland and his 2-2 record and 4.81 ERA to the mound tonight to take on Masuzaka and his 4-0 record and 3.14 ERA. Both these teams are playing great baseball but Boston at home with their ace on the mound will have the upper hand in this game. Masuzaka is lights out at home and is undefeated for the season. Were going to ride the hot hand in Matsuzaka to victory this evening in Fenway.

LOCK = Boston Red Sox -175

(8) Denver Nuggets (0-1) at (1) Los Angeles Lakers (1-0)

The Lakers have won and covered the spread in the last four battles versus the Nuggets. They have outplayed them on both sides of the ball. Take the Lakers with Kobe and Gasol to outdo Denver again on their home court. Denver has lost 20 of its last 22 at the Staples Center. “Where’s the money”. The Lakers are 8-1 ATS in the last nine clashes at home against the Nuggets.

Los Angeles Lakers - 8.5

Mr A's

Philadelphia Phillies (11-10) at Milwaukee Brewers (12-8)

The Phillies are on a roll and go for their fourth straight victory tonight when they square off against the Brewers tonight at Miller Park. Philadelphia has had problems against Milwaukee at Miller Park, dropping seven of their last eight contests against the Brewers in Milwaukee. The Brewers have won four of their last six games and seven of its last ten at home.

Philadelphia will send Cole Hamels to the mound. The lefthander is coming off a 6-4 loss to the Mets on Friday. He allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits over eight innings. Hamels is 1-0 lifetime with a 3.60 ERA against the Brewers. Milwaukee counters with Dave Bush. The right-hander is 0-0 with a 6.23 ERA in four career appearances versus the Phillies and the Brewers have lost six of his last seven starts. Go with the Phillies to continue their winning streak.

Philadelphia Phillies - 135

San Francisco Giants (8-13) at San Diego Padres (9-12)

Both teams are playing disappointingly. San Diego has dropped six of their last seven games and San Francisco five of their last seven. However, the Padres have played great against the Giants. San Diego has won 14 of the last 18 meetings, including the last five at home. In addition, Greg Maddux will be on the mound for the Padres. The right-hander has pitched terrific versus San Francisco, going 29-14 with a 2.86 ERA in 50 starts, including 6-0 in his last 10. The Giants will counter with Matt Cain. The right-hander is 3-4 with a 2.41 ERA in 12 career starts against San Diego. Go with the Padres with Maddux on the hill. San Diego has won Greg Maddux last four stats versus San Francisco.

San Diego Padres - 140

(8) Atlanta Hawks (0-1) at (1) Boston Celtics (1-0)

Boston goes for their fifth straight win over Atlanta and has won five of the last six meetings. The Celtics have outscored the dragging Hawks; taking the last four games by double digits. Go with the Celtics at TD Banknorth Garden to win their fourth straight at home versus Atlanta. Boston has covered the spread their last five home games and have beaten the Hawks in six of its last eight at Boston, pounded them, 104-81 in Game 1.

15 Dime –

76ERS

Take the points with the 76ers in their Game Two matchup with the Pistons.

Granted, not many people saw the 76ers winning Game One outright, and I’m not calling for them to take a 2-0 series lead, but this line just doesn’t do Philadelphia any justice whatsoever.

I don’t doubt Detroit will come out focused and ready to exact revenge, but they are a team that is getting a little long in the tooth and the youthful exuberance of the 76ers should be enough to keep them within the number tonight.

Detroit had all kinds of excuses after the game about not giving a consistent effort and how they’ll make things right in Game Two.

Again, I don’t doubt they’ll be ready for this game, but they gave the 76ers something very dangerous in losing Game One.

Hope.

Now Philadelphia is confident they can take Detroit’s best shot and find themselves still standing at the end. Remember, this is a 76ers team that has won three straight against Detroit, including two on the road. They are also on a 10-3 ATS run in their last 13 road games.

Take the points with Philadelphia as they stay within the number tonight.

5 Dime –

PHILLIES (With Hamels and Bush as listed pitchers)

Let’s stick with the City of Brotherly Love and back the Phillies on the road over the Brewers.

A bit of a pitching mismatch as Cole Hamels takes the mound opposite Dave Bush.

Bush has been struggling this season, going 0-3 with a 7.02 ERA. The right-hander has received only six total runs of support in his three starts and has failed to pitch more than six innings in any of those starts.

The Brewers bullpen could be taxed after using seven relievers last night.

Hamels was roughed up in his last start for Philadelphia, but I like him to bounce back to the form that saw him give up just two earned runs in his first three starts.

Take the Phillies as they grab the road win.

5 Dime –

INDIANS (With Carmona and Tomko as listed pitchers)

Take the Tribe for the road win tonight over the Royals.

The Indians’ offense broke out in a big way last night with 15 runs and 17 hits and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar output tonight.

They probably won’t need such an outburst with Fausto Carmona getting the start. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 1.96 ERA on the year, which is impressive considering the control issues he had through his first three starts. But Carmona looks like he might have that issue resolved after issuing just one free pass in his last start.

Brett Tomko will start for Kansas City and I don’t expect him to quell the Tribe’s offense. Royals’ starters have allowed 46 runs in their last five losses, and Tomko is coming off a start in which he allowed five runs in seven innings last Thursday.

Take the Indians as they grab the road win.
