MATT FARGO

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers
Chicago White Sox (Vazquez) +105

The Tigers put a halt to the White Sox seven-game winning streak but that is where it ends. Detroit has won back-to-back games only twice since May 23rd and it is 7-10 over that span including a 4-4 record at home. Nothing is going right for the Tigers as they are hitting just .231 over their last 10 games including a mere .217 against right-handed pitching. The pitching had not fared much better as has been the case all season as Detroit has an ERA of 4.80 including 5.00 from the starters. That is 2nd worst in the A.L.

Chicago has taken control of the American League Central as it has built a 6.5-game lead over Minnesota thanks to the recent four-game sweep of the Twins. After all of the complaining that was done about their offense, the White Sox are killing the ball, averaging 8.1 rpg during the recent 7-1 stretch. They are now a game under .500 on the road but with Detroit a game under .500 at home, that losing record makes no difference. Chicago has won 11 of the last 14 meetings in Detroit.

After a horrendous start, Justin Verlander has shown some great improvements but even with him pitching great cannot get the Tigers some wins. He has a 5.05 ERA on the season including 4.56 at home but it is the record that is really disturbing. Detroit is 2-11 in his 13 starts including 2-6 in his eight home outings. The recent stretch includes losses in seven of his last eight and four of his last five at home. He was shelled by Chicago already once this season and is now 1-6 with a 6.14 ERA in 10 lifetime starts.

Javier Vazquez is coming off a below average outing against the Twins but that has been a rarity this season. He was coming off four straight quality starts and you have to go all the way back to May 2007 to find back-to-back starts that were both non-quality. He is now 10 for 10 following a non-quality performance since then with Chicago going 6-3 in those games which also includes that suspended game against Baltimore earlier this year. He is 4-0 with a 2.43 ERA in his last four starts against Detroit. Play Chicago White Sox 1.5 Units

JASON LOWRY

TAMPA BAY RAYS

We really like the Rays in this one as they send their ace Kazmir to the mound where he is 10-1 against the money line against AL West opponents over the last 2 seasons. TAMPA BAY is 23-14 against the money line vs. AL teams scoring 4.7 or less runs/game on the season this season. And even though the Angels are sending a very good pitcher in Lackey to the mound TAMPA BAY is 18-7 against the money line vs. an AL starting pitcher whose ERA is 4.00 or better this season. Take the Rays!

TONY MATHEWS

San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies

Selection: San Francisco Giants -125

Explanation: We will side with the San Francisco Giants as they face-off against the Colorado Rockies in Wednesday's MLB contest.

The San Francisco Giants will use starting pitcher Tim Lincecum. Tim Lincecum has pitched well this entire season. In fact, Tim Lincecum is 8-1 with a 2.15 ERA. In addition, Tim Lincecum has a 2.11 ERA in his last 3 starts. We see Tim Lincecum pitching another solid game today.

The Colorado Rockies will use starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez. Ubaldo Jimenez has struggled this season. In fact, Ubaldo Jimenez is 1-6 with a 5.43 ERA. In addition, Ubaldo Jimenez has a 8.40 ERA in his last 3 starts. We see Ubaldo Jimenez having another bad game today.

The bottom line, the San Francisco Giants should be able to beat the Colorado Rockies today!

Take the San Francisco Giants!

TRIPLE THREAT SPORTS

White Sox over the Tigers

Even with a loss last night, Pale Hose the hotter team, Vazquez the hotter pitcher, and tons of stat edges (including that Tigers are 2-11 in Verlander starts this year) also favor the road team.

PLAY ON: PHILADELPHIA PHILLES

Cole Hamels is off an impressive outing last Thursday afternoon in Philadelphia shuting down the Reds and record breaking Ken Griffey. Hamels was a follow-up to back-to-back purged outings in which he threw with a "dead arm" syndrome, a common denominator at this time of year. With the Phillies coming in off a lackluster effort last night, we fully expect a rebound effort here. Furthermore, Philly carries a perfect 100% record of 7-0 against LHP into this classic Wednesday showdown.

VEGAS EXPERTS

Philadelphia Phillies at Florida Marlins

The Florida Marlins went Under yesterday, by only half a run it should be pointed out, for the first time since 5/22, an incredible string of 17 straight games w/ an Over or a push (happened just twice). It should be no surprise that the opponent was the Phillies, who have now gone Under in eight straight overall. Considering the recent ERA's of today's respective hurlers, Hamels and Miller, expect the scoring output to be more of the Marlins liking today.

Play on: Over

JOHN FINA

Seattle/Toronto Under 7.5

Today we expect a low-scoring game as the Seattle Mariners do battle with the Toronto Blue Jays. One reason why we expect a low-scoring game is because both these teams will be sending starting pitchers to the mound who have pitched very well this season (especially well as of late). This says it all... The Seattle Mariners Starting Pitcher (Felix Hernandez) has a 2.18 ERA in his last 3 starts, while Toronto Blue Jays Starting Pitcher (Shaun Marcum) has a 1.69 ERA in his last 3 starts. As you can see, both these starting pitchers should give up very few hits and runs today. In addition, these teams have a history of playing low-scoring games when they meet. In fact, the Under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings between these teams. We expect to see another low-scoring game today! Take the Seattle Mariners/Toronto Blue Jays Under 7.5!

LT Profits

Chicago White Sox +105

Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers has been the biggest money burner in baseball this season, while Javier Vazquez of the Chicago White Sox is quietly having a very good year.

Vazquez may be just 6-4, but he has a nice 3.64 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 84 innings, and Chicago is 8-4 as a team in the games that he has started. He has eight Quality Starts in his 12 starts, and allowed only four runs in three of the non-quality outings. Furthermore, he has four consecutive Quality Start vs. the Tigers, including holding them scoreless on just five hits in his first start against them this season. As if that is not enough, the White Sox bullpen now leads the American League with a 2.84 pen ERA.

Verlander was considered a Cy Young candidate entering this season, but he has proceeded to go 2-9 with a 5.05 ERA on the year, and the Tigers are 2-11 as team in all of his starts. Not surprisingly, the -13.17 units that he has cost his supporters this year ranks him dead last among 223 pitchers that have made a start this season. He has also been hit hard in both of his starts vs. the White Sox this season, surrendering a total of 10 earned runs and 18 baserunners in 13.1 innings.

Throw in the fact that the Detroit bullpen ranks 28th out of 30 Major League teams with a 4.41 pen ERA, and the White Sox seem like a rather easy call as small dogs here.

Pick: White Sox +105

Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Diego Padres Under 7.0

The San Diego Padres recently set a Major League by winning four consecutive 2-1 games, so they are accustomed to playing low scoring games. Expect more of the same vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight.

The Dodgers are not immune from low scoring affairs either, as the Under is 14-6 in their last 20 games overall. Their starter Chad Billingsley allowed four runs in five innings vs. the Chicago Cubs in his last start, but that snapped a streak of four consecutive starts where he allowed two runs or less including two scoreless efforts. This looks like a great spot for Billingsley to start a new streak, as he allowed a grand total of two runs in his last four starts vs. San Diego, covering 25 innings. Also, the Dodgers bullpen has done its part when called upon, ranking second in the National League with a 2.86 pen ERA.

Padres starter Randy Wolf is also in excellent form right now, as he has recorded five consecutive Quality Starts including allowing two runs or less in each of his last four outings. He has also loved pitching here in San Diego, as he is 3-1 with a 2.68 ERA and an outstanding 1.05 WHIP in his home ballpark.

Now seven may seem like a low total for most teams, but we already documented San Diego’s recent string of 2-1 games, and the Under is actually 29-13 in their last 42 games that had a posted total of seven or less, so this is not uncharted territory for them.

Pick: Dodgers/Padres Under 7

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Houston Astros
Play: Houston Astros

Houston swept the Milwaukee Brewers at Minute Maid Park in the clubs' first series of the season, sparking the Astros' best stretch so far. The Brewers returned the favor in Milwaukee as part of their own surge in the standings about a month later. They hope to continue that hot streak as they seek a 5th straight win against the Astros on WEdnesday night when the NL Central rivals in the 2nd game of a three-game stint in Houston. Look for Houston at home behind Backe to get the win and the Astros bats to stay hot. Play the Houston Astros

Jimmy The Moose

Colorado Rockies at San Francisco Giants

Both teams come into this game playing a lot better than they were earlier this year. The Giants have won 7 of their last 8 road games, including 6-1 in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing record. Lincecum is on the mound tonight and he's 8-1 with a 2.15 ERA on the year. The Giants have won his last 4 starts and 5 of his alst 6 road starts. The Rockies counter with the struggling Jimenez. He's 1-6 on the year and the Rockies are 2-11 in his 13 starts this season. Big edge to the Giants on the mound tonight and that's going to be the difference. Good luck - Jimmy The Moose

Play on: San Francisco

Michael Cannon

Washington +125 at PITTSBURGH

Take the Nationals tonight as the road dog over the Pirates.

Pittsburgh just can’t seem to get to that elusive .500 mark. Every time they get close, they take two steps back.

The Nationals, who are in last place in the NL East, rank near the bottom of the league in every offensive category. They are batting .235 as a team with only 47 homeruns. In their four-game losing streak prior to last night’s win the Nats were outscored 25-6 while hitting .213 with one homer.

When they go against the Pirates, it’s suddenly an offensive onslaught for these rag-tag Nationals!

Washington is 4-1 against the Bucos this season, scoring 28 runs while hitting .322 with seven homeruns against them.

The Pirates will send Ian Snell to the mound and the so-called ace of the staff has been a big disappointment this season. The right-hander is 2-6 with a 5.65 ERA and hasn’t won since April 12.

Snell is 0-6 with a 6.24 ERA in his last 10 starts, including a 5-2 loss to Washington on May 4.

The Nats will counter with John Lannan, who is 4-6 with a 3.47 ERA. The left-hander is 0-2 with a 3.71 ERA in his last three starts, getting just four runs of support in that span.

That shouldn’t be a problem tonight.

Take the Nats as they grab the road win.

3* WASHINGTON

Karl Garrett

St. Louis +110 at CINCINNATI

Going for free play winner #10 in a row tonight as the G-Man loads up on the Cardinals over the Reds.

Yes, Johnny Cueto has loads of talent, and he does enter with a 3-game winning streak, but I just don't trust him to go deep into this game, and I certainly don't trust the volatile Cincy bullpen to close the deal in this spot.

Ryan Ludwick has been a monster this year, and while Albert the Great is bothered by a sore hammy, I can see Ludwick stirring things up in the middle of the St. Louis attack tonight.

The Redbirds have won their last 3, while the Red-Legs have lost 3 of their last 4, and have also lost 3 of 4 this season to St. Louis.

Braden Looper won his lone start versus Cincy earlier this year, and over his last 3 starts against the Reds, he has worked 20 innings of 3-run ball!

Take the Cards to post another win at Cincy's expense.

Sports Gambling Hotline

Milwaukee at HOUSTON -120

The 'Stros dumped the Brew Crew 6-1 last night to improve to a perfect 4-0 this season at home against Milwaukee, and chances look strong for another Houston win, as the pitching matchup is certainly in their favor.

Milwaukee will send Manny Parra to the bump, and while he was able to beat Houston and Brandon Backe on May 30th, that game was at Miller Park. On the road, Parra is just 1-2 this season with a huge 6.95 ERA!

Brandon Backe has gone a solid 3-1 at Minute Maid Park with a 2.90 ERA, and his team is 17-11 in their home park.

Milwaukee has dropped 3 of their last 4, all on the road, and are just 14-21 away from Suds City this season.

We say back the Astros to continue the solid home/away trend tonight, as they send the Brewers to another loss.

Play on Houston.

4* HOUSTON
