BIG AL's MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL UNDERDOG WINNER!
At 7:10pm our selection is on the New York Mets over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona ace Brandon Webb is on pace to have close to 30 wins this season. If he's in the mid 20s by the middle of September, things will get very interesting. He probably won't reach 30, but he could definitely reach 25 at the rate he's going. Unfortunately for Webb, tonight is going to be tough for him. The problem is that Webb generally does not do well against the Mets. Arizona is 2-7 in Webb's last nine starts against the Mets, and although the D-Backs got a victory in Webb's lone start against New York this season (on May 3), Webb did not pitch well in that game (which was at home and not in the hostile environment of Shea Stadium). The D-Backs have lost two of Webb's last three road starts and although he has performed well in his last two overall, those games were against the Pirates and Nationals, both light-hitting ballclubs and nothing like this talented Mets team. Also, Webb's mound opponent is big righthander Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey has had back-to-back strong starts vs. the Dodgers (at home) and Padres (in San Diego), but has been a victim of poor run production in many of his better performances this season. But look for Pelfrey to win tonight, as New York has dominated this series in the past several years, taking fifteen of the last 21 games between these two. Take the Mets.

TIP OF THE DAY
Chicago White Sox vs. Detroit Tigers
Prediction: Detroit Tigers
Divisional bragging rights will be on the line on Wednesday when the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers meet at Comerica Park. Javier Vazquez will be the starting pitcher for the White Sox on this day. Righthander Vazquez is 6-4 this season with a 3.91 ERA. The Tigers will counter Vazquez with ace Justin Verlander. Righthander Verlander has a 5.05 ERA to go along with a 2-9 record this season. Oddsmakers currently have the Tigers listed as 118-moneyline favorites versus the White Sox, while the game's total is sitting at 9. Miguel Cabrera went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in to lead the Tigers to a 6-4 victory over the White Sox on Tuesday night. Detroit won as -105 home underdogs as the game played over the 9.5-run total posted by sportsbooks. Nate Robertson gave up three runs over 6 1-3 innings to earn the win for the Tigers, while Brent Clevlen was 2-for-4 with a RBI for Detroit. Jim Thome went 3-for-4 with a big fly for Chicago, as losing pitcher Jose Contreras was rocked for six runs over six innings for the White Sox. Take LA Dodgers -101 over San Diego Padres
The Padres are 5-3 during a 10-game homestand, but have hit just .195 with runners in scoring position. They have stranded at least eight runners in six of their last eight games and 75 total in that span?20 more than their opponents. San Diego is also hitting an NL-low .235 with runners on second and third. Randy Wolf, the former Dodger has been tough over his last five starts. The left-hander is 1-0 in his last two starts, including a victory over Johan Santana and the Mets. He's allowed two runs and 11 hits in 13 innings. Those performances are part of a five-start stretch, during which he?s 2-1 with a 2.51 ERA. The Dodgers will go with Chad Billingsley who is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in his last three starts, but he?s only received five total runs of support. That stretch has come after Billingsley went 4-1 with a 1.97 ERA in five starts, as the Dodgers? bats provided 28 runs. Neither team hits much right now and with Petco Park a notorious pitchers park, look for runs to be at a premium tonight. I'm going with the Dodgers based on Billingsley as the superior starting pitcher in tonights game.

10,000 Dime MLB Winner: HOUSTON ASTROS
I won with the Astros last night and I’m back on them again this evening with Brandon Backe on the bump. It’s clear he pitches much better at Minute Maid and he’ll handcuff this Brewers’ club that struggles on the road both hitting (.243 team batting average) and more importantly, winning (14-21 away from Miller Park).
Backe sports a 2.90 ERA in five home starts and the Astros are on home runs when Backe starts of 25-6 overall and 5-0 versus teams with winning records. The Astros are now 13-6 in the their last 19 at home following last night’s 6-1 win over the Brewers.
Milwaukee starter Manny Parra has a 6.95 road ERA, and that includes giving up five earned on nine hits and four walks in just five innings at Houston on May 3. He’ll be facing a Houston team that led by slugging Lance Berkman hits a robust .287 at home. With last night’s win, the Astros are 4-0 at home versus the Brewers this year and 43-19 in their last 62 at home versus Milwaukee. Those winning trends continue tonight as the Astros take Game 2 of this series
