Big Al McMordie

Cleveland v Angels
Pick: Under 8

At 3:35pm our selection is on the Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Angels 'under' the total. This game will mark the thirteenth straight contest between these two teams that has been played in Anaheim. While this is a bit unusual, it has not always been a bad thing for Cleveland as the series has been very even during this time, with the Angels having only a two-game advantage, 7-5. Los Angeles has to be feeling pretty good after its three-game sweep of its biggest American League rivals, the Boston Red Sox, to begin the post-All-Star second half. The Angels now have the best record in the Majors, and are the first team in baseball to reach 60 wins this season. With its trade of ace CC Sabathia, Cleveland has effectively thrown in the towel for the season, but oddly enough, it finds itself riding a hot streak having gone 7-4 in its last eleven games. Ace John Lackey gets the start for the Angels and the 'under' is 6-2 in Lackey's last eight starts vs. Cleveland, and 11-3 in the last fourteen games between these two teams overall. Take the 'under'.

VEGAS EXPERTS

New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies

If we were managing the Phillies, this is not the spot where we would have elected to bring back Brett Myers from reassignment. Philly has lost 13 of his 17 starts to begin with, including 8 of 9 on the road. Myers' ERA away from home is a terrible 8.18 and while Mets hurler John Maine has looked far from great himself recently, he is 4-0 lifetime with a 2.36 ERA vs. the Phills.

Play on: NY Mets

Robert Ross

Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies
Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodgers ought to rebound off last night's one-sided loss. They are 60-33 against the money line when playing against a team with a losing record in the second half of the season over the last 3 seasons while Rockies Rusch is 13-32 against the money line vs. poor power teams - averaging 0.9 or less HR's/game since 1997. (Team's Record) Take L.A.!

New York Liberty vs. Washington Mystics
Play: New York Liberty

The Mystics will host the Liberty this morning in a WNBA matchup with an unusual start time of 11:30 a.m. est. The Mystics responded to the firing of their coach with a resounding win over the Seattle Storm 89-57 in their last outing and now must turn around and prepare for one of the better teams the WNBA has to offer. The Liberty are coming off of a disappointing 71-55 home loss to the Fever but have responded well in this position as they are 8-1 ats this season when following a loss in their previous game. The home team has dominated the series recently winning nine of the last ten meetings with the Liberty owning the lone road win. The Mystics haven't handled success well this year and are just 0-4 ats in their last 4 games following a SU win. The Liberty are 7-1 ats the last 8 meetings. Play on the New York Liberty for 1 unit.

Sportsbettingstats

Atlanta Braves at Florida Marlins

In yesterdays game between these two teams the Marlins blanked the Braves 4-0. The Marlins are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are only 1 game back of the Philadelphia Phillies in the tight National League West. The Braves are 5-5 in their last 10 games and even though they are under .500 they are only 7 games back of the Phillies. Taking the mound for the Braves is Tim Hudson (10-7, 3.31 ERA), who has been a bright spot for the Braves this season and in his last start went 6 innings giving up 5 runs in a win. In yesterdays loss to the Marlins the Braves scored 0 runs on only 1 hit. Taking the mound for the Marlins is Ricky Nolasco (10-5 3.78 ERA), who has been a pleasant surprise for the Marlins and in his last start went 7 innings and gave up 4 earned runs in a loss. In last nights win the Marlins scored 4 runs on 4 hits and left 5 men on base.

Staff Pick: In the pitching match up in this game the advantage is a slight one for the Braves, as Hudson is a solid starter and has great stuff. However, Hudson has been tagged for at least 5 runs in 3 of his last 6 starts, The Marlins are staying in the NL East race and the Braves need to start to make their push now if they hope to make the playoffs. The Marlins rank 6th in the NL in runs scored (476) while the Braves rank 10th (440). The Marlins can hurt you with the long ball, as they lead the majors in home runs (140). The Marlins are rolling and look to win 4 straight series' with a win tonight. Florida has a penchant for the come from behind victory, as they have 9 walk off wins in 2008. Florida has a dynamic offense, but their pitching is what they need to improve, as they rank 14th in the NL in team ERA (4.57). After a horrendous start of the season on the road the Braves have begun to win away from Atlanta, but are still only 16-33 on the road this season. The Marlins are 29-22 at home this year. Tim Hudson will have a good start and the Braves offense will come alive in this game. The Braves look to move up in the NL East and it will start tonight as the Braves will take advantage of their Ace on the mound and their offense will score just enough runs to win.

Braves 6 Marlins 3

GINA

Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles

Toronto has won five of the last six versus Baltimore and will start A.J. Burnett . The right-hander is 2-1 with a 4.35 ERA in his last three starts, but went 0-4 with a 5.51 ERA in his last five road starts. Burnett has been successful against the Orioles, 6-1 with a 5.26 ERA in eight career starts versus Baltimore, 1-1 with a 13.97 ERA in two starts this season. Baltimore counters with Jeremy Guthrie. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 4.19 ERA in his last three starts and is 1-0 with a 2.65 ERA in five career starts against the Blue Jays.

Go with the Blue Jays to grab another win at Camden Yards in Baltimore. Toronto has won five of Burnett’s last 6 starts against the Orioles.

Dwayne Bryant

Oakland A's at Tampa Bay Rays
Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -170

It has been more than three months since the Tampa Bay Rays lost two in a row at home and they should be plenty motivated after losing to the A's last night, 8-1. James Shields has been great at home, posting a 2.05 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and .246 OOBP (Rays are 10-1). Smith has struggled lately for Oakland, posting a 6.14 ERA, 1.98 WHIP and .420 OOBP in his last three starts.

Take Tampa Bay

Pittsburgh Pirates at Houston Astros
Pick: Houston Astros -128

Houston should be able to avoid a home sweep by the Pirates, who are just 13-42 at Minute Maid Park. Pittsburgh's Ian Snell has been dreadful on the road, going 1-6 with a 7.71 ERA, 2.01 WHIP and .404 OOBP. Brian Moehler has been solid at home for Houston, sporting a 3.59 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and .303 OOBP in hitter-friendly Minute Maid Park. Moehler (1.16 WHIP, .286 OOBP) is in better form than Snell (1.64 WHIP, .364 OOBP) when comparing their last three starts.

Take Houston

BEN BURNS

Detroit Tigers @ Kansas City Royals
PICK: Kansas City Royals -105

REASON FOR PICK: It's true that the Tigers have the better record. However, that's been largely due to their success when playing during the evening, not during the afternoon. Indeed, the Royals have been the much more profitable team during the afternoon. The Royals have gone 18-17 (+5.9) when playing during the day, while the Tigers have gone a money-burning 17-21 (-9.3) when they have done so. While the Tigers have the much bigger names in their lineup, they've only hit .249 when playing during the afternoon, averaging a mere 3.7 runs in those games. Conversely, KC has hit a relatively healthy .271 when playing during the afternoon, averaging 4.5 runs in those games.

Galarraga has been solid for the Tigers and he's admittedly pitched well on the road and during the afternoon. That being said, he hasn't received much run support lately and the Tigers are 0-3 his last three starts. Facing the Royals 'ace,' he's unlikely to get much run support this afternoon either.

Greinke has allowed roughly one less run per game when pitching during the afternoon than he has during the evening. In six daytime starts, he's gone 3-2 with a 3.16 ERA, holding opposing hitters to a .243 average. He's also been much better at home than he has been on the road. In fact, he's 3-0 with an excellent 2.39 ERA and 1.122 WHIP at home and the Royals were a sizzling 6-1 in those games, most recently a 4-1 win vs. the White Sox. Dating back to last season the Royals are now 9-2 in Greinke's last 11 home starts. They're also 4-1 in his five career home starts vs. Detroit. Consider a play on KC

LT Profits

Los Angeles Dodgers -115

This match up between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies in Denver seems like a pitching mismatch favoring the road club at a very reasonable price.

Hiroki Kuroda may have just a 5-6 record, but he has a 3.79 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 107 innings, and he has looked downright unhittable at times. Sure he is coming off of one of his worst starts of the year vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks, but Kuroda had allowed a grand total of three runs in 22.2 innings in his previous three starts, including two scoreless outings. He is looking to atone for a poor outing vs. the Rockies in LA, and we think that he gets his revenge here.

Glendon Rusch is a veteran journeyman that has survived in the majors for this long solely because he is left-handed. The fact of the matter is that he is not nearly as serviceable as he once was, as he has a 5.79 ERA and a poor 1.58 WHIP in 37.1 innings this season. He is facing a Dodgers lineup that is hitting a very respectable .282 vs. left-handed pitching on the road this season.

The Rockies have scored 10 runs in each of the first two games if this series, but they managed to lose the series opener and we do not expect another offensive explosion vs. Kuroda, so look for the Dodgers to prevail.

Pick: Dodgers -115

BRIAN MARSHALL

Boston Red Sox vs. Seattle Mariners
Plays On: Seattle Mariners -140

The Boston Red Sox will be lead by starting pitcher Clay Buchholz. Clay Buchholz has been struggling this season. In fact, Clay Buchholz has a 5.88 ERA on the season. In addition, Clay Buchholz has a 9.64 ERA in his last 3 starts. We see Clay Buchholz having another bad game today.

The Seattle Mariners will be lead by starting pitcher Felix Hernandez. Felix Hernandez has been pitching well this season which is shown by his 2.95 ERA on the season. We see Felix Hernandez pitching another great game today.

The Seattle Mariners are 11-5 in their last 16 meetings against the Boston Red Sox (when playing in Seattle), and should be able to get another win today!

Take the Seattle Mariners
