Matty O'Shea Single Dime AL Value Play O' the Day

Chicago White Sox -1.5 +160 vs Texas Rangers

Texas starter Kevin Millwood has been hit very hard lately, surrendering at least five runs and nine hits in less than six innings in four of his last five outings. Meanwhile, Chicago rookie Clayton Richard will be making his first career start after going 12-6 with an impressive 2.44 ERA in the minors. The young southpaw won all six of his starts at Triple-A Charlotte, striking out 29 and walking just four in 38 innings of work. The Rangers are hitting just .231 against lefties on the road this season, which gives us a good opportunity to cash this play with great value. Bet the White Sox on the runline as my Single Dime AL Value Play O' the Day.

TOM FREESE

New York is 10-2 their last 12 games when facing a pitcher who has a WHIP of over 1.30 and they are 7-2 their last 9 games as favorites. The Mets are 21-5 with John Maine in their last 26 games NL East foes and they are 19-7 with Maine if they are off a loss in their last game. Philadelphia is 6-20 the last 26 starts made by Brett Myers including 1-11 his last 12 road starts. The Phillies are 3-15 with Myers vs. NL East foes and they are 3-7 their last 10 games vs. the Mets. PLAY ON NY METS -

VERNON CROY

Milwaukee Brewers vs. St Louis Cardinals
Play: Milwaukee Brewers

20 Unit MLB Bookie Buster of the Week

This pick falls into one of my top MLB systems and the Brewers are a red hot 6-0 over their last 6 games. The Cards opponents are hitting .306 as a team against them over their last 7 games while averaging 6.3 rpg and Braden Looper (9-7, 4.60) has struggled over his last 3 starts with an ERA of 6.75. Looper has allowing 22 hits over just 16 innings including 9 homeruns and it won't get any easier for him tonight against this potent Brewers line-up that is averaging 5.7 rpg this season. Looper is just 2-3 lifetime against the Brewers with an ERA of 6.33 and I look for him to struggle again tonight after giving up 7 hits and 4 earned runs in his last outing against the Brewers while striking out just 1 batter. Take the Brewers as my MLB Bookie Buster of the Week.

Players of America

Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets
The Play: New York Mets -125.0
Star Value: 1* (10 Units)

One game we're keying in on is between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets-an intense little rivalry. The Phillies mounted a giant comeback in the Top of the 9th last night to beat the Mets late. We preach it all the time, but these types of series are key right now. There is a point in the year when teams start to slack off and others take advantage. That time is now. These two teams are out for blood, both battling for playoff position.

Wednesday night in New York, the Met's give the leather to right hander John Maine. Maine is an OK 8-7 on the year with an ERA right around 4. He's looked like an ace and he's looked like an ass at times this year...pardon our language-but it's the truth. John faced this Phillies team on April 10th and took the decision in a 4-3 win. The Mets own the series between these two teams at 8-3 this season. They've really got these guy's number. As of late, New York has been playing some pretty darn good baseball. They are 8-2 in their last 10 with a combined batting average of over .300. The Met's have also combined an overall ERA of 2.82 in their last 10 games...absolutely remarkable.

The Met's will be keying in on Brett Myers of the Phillies. Myers has been nothing short of atrocious this year. He is a pathetic 3-9 overall with a WHIP of 1.58 and an ERA approaching 6.00. This guy gets shelled and his confidence has to be that of an 8th grader playing in the big leagues. Despite getting the win last night, Philly has been slacking off lately, unlike New York. The Phils are 5-5 in their last 10 with an ERA of 4.38 and a batting average under .265. Facing Maine won't help those stats, especially with the Met's impressive 28-18 home record.

Setting this price this low in New York is flat out ludicrous. We're not sure what Vegas is trying to prove here, but the Mets should pick this one up without a problem. OK, the Phillies have some big bats in the line up and some infamous names, but this is baseball...not Hollywood Boulevard. Players have big games and players have bad games, that's what is the hardest part of coming out every night and putting on a show. The Mets are going to have a good one Wednesday night at Shea Stadium. 10 units on the blue and orange who come out firing on all cylinders after a disappointing loss Tuesday.

TRENDS OF THE GAME:
- The Phillies are 1-11 in Myers' last 12 road starts
- The Phillies are 6-20 in Myers' last 26 starts
- The Phillies are 6-20 in Myers' last 26 starts on grass
- The Mets are 11-2 in their last 13 games on grass
- The Mets are 11-2 in their last 13 games overall
- The Mets are 8-1 in Maine's last 9 starts versus the Phillies

New York 6, Philadelphia 2

Rocky Atkinson

Texas @ Chicago White Sox
Play On: 3* Chicago White Sox -110

Clayton Richard was 6-0 with a 2.37 ERA in 38 innings pitched in 6 games at AAA Charlotte. He had 29 strikeouts compared to only 4 walks. Texas is scoring only 4.4 runs per game against left handed starters this year. Chicago White Sox bullpen has a 3.20 ERA overall this year and a 3.48 ERA at home this year. Millwood is 2-5 with a 5.18 ERA on the road this year and 1-2 with a 7.02 ERA his last 3 starts. Millwood is 1-4 overall vs Chicago White Sox since 1997. We'll play the Chicago White Sox for 3 units today!

Wunderdog

Atlanta at Florida
Pick: Florida +103

Here we are again with the Braves. This team has gone just 16-33 on the road, winning less than once every three times out and they are the favorite? We certainly don't see any value in that. The fact is that the Braves have been a favorite on the road 28 times and have produced a 9-19 mark as a road favorite. It is pretty odd to see a team winning on the road less than once every three games a favorite 28 times. It must be the Tim Hudson factor right? WRONG! The Braves are 3-9 in Hudson's 12 road starts, which is actually a lower winning percentage than they have in all other road games combined. Ricky Nolasco has matched Hudson win-for-win with 10, and the Marlins have won 11 of his last 14 starts. There is lots of value on the Marlins here and we will ride them as a home dog.

Black Widow Sports

1* on Chicago Cubs -110

Chicago has to be sick and tired of losing to the Arizona Diamondbacks. They got beat in the postseason last year and their struggles have continued into this season, losing the first two games of this 3-game series. Chicago will not be suffering a sweep to the Diamondbacks with Ted Lilly on the hill Wednesday. Lilly has been at his best on the road, going 4-3 with a solid 3.78 ERA. Chicago is 48-24 (+15.2 Units) against the money line as a favorite of -110 or higher this season. The odds makers are right on the money listing the Cubs as a favorite here, knowing there’s no way in hell this NL powerhouse will get swept by Arizona today. Take the Cubs on the Money Line.

Priceless Picks

1 Unit on Chicago White Sox -115

The White Sox are an impressive 22-5 in their last 27 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. They are also a very strong 26-11 in their last 37 games following a win. The Rangers are a pathetic 16-36 in their last 52 road games vs. a left-handed starter and just 4-14 in Millwood's last 18 starts as a road underdog. I like the Sox in this one.

Black Magic Sports

1 Unit on New York Yankees -149

The Yankees have come to life in this series with Minnesota, outscoring the Twins 20-6 in two home victories. Look for the Yankees to cap off the 3-game sweep of the Twins tonight with Mike Mussina taking the ball. Mussina has recorded 12 wins this season in large part to his revived 3.49 ERA. Mussina is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA through his last 3 starts for the Yankees. New York is aiming for their sixth straight victory tonight and Mussina is not about to let them down. The Yankees are 7-2 in their last 9 home meetings with the Twins. Glen Perkins was tagged for 5 earned runs on 10 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings back against the Yankees back on May 30, 2008. Perkins is no match for Mussina and a hot Yankees’ lineup in this one. Cash in with the New York as the favorite.

Tony Karpinski

Washington Nationals vs. San Francisco Giants
Play: Under

Somebody has to actually win this ball game folks. Its a battle of 2 of the worst teams in baseball. One team struggles mightily on the road, the other team is the worst home team in all of a baseball. There is something that people are ignoring though. Playing at home is still an advantage. When two teams are so close, when the line is so close you look for any little advantages you can obtain. I don't expect many runs to be scored and I am all over the UNDER tonight in the bay. Play on the UNDER
