1 Unit on Padres/Mets OVER 8.5

The Over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in New York . The Over is a perfect 4-0 in the Padres last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning record and 8-2-1 in the Padres last 11 games as an underdog. The Over is 5-0-1 in the Mets last 6 games as a home favorite of -151 to -200 and 9-0-2 in the Mets last 11 games vs. a right-handed starter. We saw 11 runs in game 1 and I expect the total to go even higher today with a couple pitchers on the hill whose ERA's total over 11 runs combined.

The Bookie Pays You:

Play HEAVY on the Angels today.

We know that it doesn't pay good if you take the money-line,
BUT who cares, as long as you WIN.

With that in mind...

We always try to stay away from the run-line in the MLB,
BUT... We see the Angels winning todays matchup with
Baltimore EASILY. ;D

Moneyline... Run-Line... Your Choice.

Angels ALL THE WAY! ****

Thanks.

San Diego Padres at New York Mets

San Diego Padres have had difficulties at Shea Stadium, dropping eight of the last ten games in the Big Apple and will have a bigger task with New York's Pedro Martinez on the hill. The right-hander has won six of his last seven decisions against the Padres and is 10-3 with a 3.18 ERA in 24 career appearances, including 17 starts against them. Go with the Mets at home. New York has won 12 of their last 14 home games, including Tuesday's 6-5 opener against San Diego.

NY Yankees at TEXAS

Tonight we believe you are going to see about 20 combined runs between the Yankees and the Rangers.

The weather in Arlington is nice a sweltering, and thus far it has been a hitter's paradise for the clubs, as both Monday, and Tuesday's games made there way OVER the posted total.

New York has been OVER in 4 in a row, and 9 of their last 10, while Texas is on a 4-0-2 OVER clip their last 6, and 7-1-2 OVER their last 10 games.

The hitters should fare well once again, as Ponson was torched for 7 runs in 5 innings of work back on July 2nd against Texas, while Hunter's lone start to date saw 6 runs cross in just 5 innings of work.

We have to believe another high-scoring game is in the cards tonight between the Yanks and Rangers.

Play the OVER.

Karl Garrett

Florida at PHILADELPHIA

The G-Man is feeling a rather high-scoring game a-brewing in the City of Brotherly Love tonight.

Last night we saw the Marlins and Phillies combine for a 10-spot, as the game made its way OVER the posted total.

With the weather heating up, and the Bank already being a hitter's park, the G-Man thinks the runs are going to be adding up once again.

Tonight's starters are capable of putting up some goose eggs on the scoreboard, but Florida was able to get to Kendrick for 7 runs in just 4 innings the last time he faced them on July 19th, and the Phillies have already seen Sanchez a couple of times in his short tenure in the majors, and have scored 11 runs against him in 8 innings of work.

The G-Man is banking on the OVER tonight at the Bank!

All 4 series meetings in Philadelphia this year have gone OVER. Runs galore in Philly, as the Marlins and Phils play another OVER.

LT Profits

Cleveland Indians @ Tampa Bay Rays Under 8.0

Scott Kazmir of the Tampa Bay Rays has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year, and even the maligned Jeremy Sowers has pitched better lately, so look for the offenses to struggle in this early afternoon matinee.

Kazmir has a 2.89 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 17 starts this season, with the Under going 12-5 in those contests. He has allowed two runs or less in four of his last five starts, and he has been virtually unhittable at home, where he is 5-1 with an outstanding 1.87 ERA in nine starts, with the Under going 7-2.

Now Sowers was one of the worst pitchers in baseball earlier this season, but he has not allowed more than four runs in any of his last four starts. This streak started when he allowed just two runs and three hits vs. these Rays in Cleveland. It is also worth noting that despite his early season trouble, the Under is still 8-4 in all Sowers starts.

Of course much of that has to do with what had been an inept Cleveland offense, and the Indians are hitting a pathetic .208 vs. left-handers on the road this season. Also, the Rays have not exactly scorched the ball lately either, batting a modest .246 as a team the last 10 games.

Finally, the Under is 7-3 in the last 10 Tampa Bay games and 4-1 in the last five Cleveland games, and we look for those streaks to continue.

Pick: Indians, Rays Under 8

New York Yankees -125

The New York Yankees wasted a gem by Sidney Ponson while losing 1-0 to the Los Angeles Angels last week, but look for them to give him better support as they try and avoid a sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers tonight.

Ponson tossed seven scoreless innings vs. the Angels, marking the fourth time in six starts since returning to the Yankees that he has allowed three runs or less. In fact, this was also the third time in this stretch that Ponson allowed one run or less.

Ponson also has some added incentive here, pitching at Texas for the first time since the Rangers released him earlier this season. He did allow three runs or less in four of his six starts in this stadium before his release.

The Rangers counter with young Tommy Hunter, who was hit hard while allowing six earned runs and eight hits in just five innings in his first major league start vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. If Hunter struggled so badly vs. the normally punchless Jays, what do you expect from him vs. this Yankees lineup in his second start in the big leagues?

We do not think it will be pretty, so look for the Yankees to salvage a win in this series here.

Pick: Yankees -125

New York at Texas

New York is 10-1 OVER their last 11 games and they are 7-0 OVER their last 7 games as favorites. The Yankees are 8-1 OVER their last 9 games vs. righty starters and they are 6-1 OVER after scoring 5 or more runs in their last game as well as going 6-1 OVER after allowing 5 or more runs in their last game. Texas is 7-0 OVER their last 7 games vs. winning teams and they are 11-2-1 OVER their last 14 games. The Rangers are 6-2 OVER off a win. PLAY ON 'OVER'

Larry Ness

CWS (-110) vs DET

The Tigers first let a 6-1 5th-inning lead slip away last night at Chicago and then after taking a two-run lead in the top of the 14th, saw the White Sox win it with four runs in the bottom of the inning (walk-off 3-run HR). People keep waiting for the Tigers to "come around" but it doesn't look as if it's going to happen. Verlander takes the hill tonight for Detroit and after an eight-start stretch (6/11-7/2) in which he posted a 2.32 ERA, he's returned to his early season form in his last two outings, allowing 14 hits and 13 ERs over 9.2 innings (12.10 ERA). Verlander's never had any success vs the White Sox (2-7, 6.03 ERA / 0-4 with a 6.19 ERA in six starts at Chicago) and Chicago is now 36-16 at home this year, including a major league-best 24-7 at since May 25. Detroit has had excellent results vs lefties this year (21-9) and last (28-15), but Danks (8-4, 3.31 ERA) is a formidable foe. Take Chicago.

Wunderdog

Houston at Chicago
Pick:Chicago -181

The Cubs have to be considered at any price under -200 at home. The Cubbies have dominated all comers to the tune of a 42-16 mark or winning over 72% of the time. The Astros Brandon Backe has had two distinctly different seasons. The ‘Stros are 6-4 when Backe starts at home, but a pitiful 3-10 when he starts on the road. Not exactly the type of pitcher that stops the Cubs at home. The Cubs slid for awhile going 12-14 over a 26-game stretch, but are back to winning again taking eight of their last 10. Cubs get the call in this one.

Big Al

At 12:35pm our selection is on the Milwaukee Brewers over the Cincinnati Reds. Perhaps the recent shoving match and near fisticuffs in the Milwaukee dugout is just the thing this team needs to remind it that it is in the middle of a dogfight for the NL Central crown. Of course it's never a good thing when players on the same team get into heated exchanges as Milwaukee's Prince Fielder and Manny Parra did the other night, but Fielder has apologized and continued his hot streak at the plate, as he had another big game in Tuesday night's win, so perhaps what happened between the two teammates wasn't all bad. The Reds just don't seem to want to give up on 22-year-old righthanded starter Homer Bailey, as they will give the seemingly hopeless prospect yet another start despite his now 0-5 record and 7.55 ERA (and the Reds are a winless 0-7 in Bailey's seven starts). Miwaukee's veteran righthander Jeff Suppan may have a losing record and 4.75 ERA, but the Brewers still have a winning record in his starts at 12-9. With the Brewers' 8-1 victory on Tuesday, they are now 10-2 in their last twelve road games. Take the Brew Crew.
