BRAVES +114 at Marlins (Campillo-Volstad)

Braves at Marlins OVER 9.0 -101 (Campillo-Volstad)

NATIONALS +145 over Phillies (Perez-Blanton) (OR +1.5 -114)

INDIANS +117 over Whitesox (Sowers-Vazquez) (OR +1.5 -129)

Comments:
The Whitesox-Indians' game starts early, at 12:05 USA ET.

BRAVES +114 at Marlins (Campillo-Volstad)

Braves at Marlins OVER 9.0 -101 (Campillo-Volstad)
These are both close calls for us. We need odds of at least plus-anything to take the Braves, and we'd pass the Over play at 9.5. At 9.0, we'd lay as much as -120 on the Over.

NATIONALS +145 over Phillies (Perez-Blanton) (OR +1.5 -114)
We thought the Nationals should have been favored in yesterday's game, and we still think that. (They lost, 4-0, and got out-hit 8 to six.) Today is another strong play for us again on the Nationals at these prices. We'd lay at least -120 with Washington today, so getting odds of +145 appears to offer excellent value.

INDIANS +117 over Whitesox (Sowers-Vazquez) (OR +1.5 -129)

Joe Blanton is 1-0 with 3.03 ERA in his last six outings and appears to have settled into the rotation realigned by manager Charlie Manuel. With Philly coming up big last night, they appear to have the emotional edge considering they are "chasing" the Mets. The Nats are 19-41 at home against winning road teams, so I like our chances this evening with the visitor.

1 Unit on Angels/Tigers UNDER 10.5

The Under is 6-0-1 in the last 7 meetings in this series and oddsmakers have set the bar too high once again. The Under is an amazing 50-21-2 in the Tigers last 73 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 5-0-1 in the Tigers last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600. The Under is 5-0 in Angels last 5 road games vs. a team with a losing record.

1 Unit on Twins/Blue Jays UNDER 8.5

I like the UNDER in this A.L. matchup as a pair of fine pitchers are all set to duel. The Under is 9-2 in Blackburn's last 11 starts after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game and Under is 5-1-1 in the Twins last 7 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game. The Under is 6-0 in the Blue Jays last 6 Wednesday games, 4-0 in Burnett's last 4 starts after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game, and 6-1 in Burnett's last 7 starts vs. a team with a winning record. The Under is also 7-3 in Burnett's last 10 starts overall. Bet the UNDER.

3Daily Winners

New York Mets vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Play: Money Line: -119

Milwaukee has lost first two games to the New York Mets and is in desperate need of a win. Though Dave Bush (9-9, 4.12) is a marginal fifth starter for any team, he's in Mark Buehrle territory when it comes to pitching at home. Bush and the Brewers are 10-3 when he starts at Miller Park and are 30-13 the last three seasons. Bush and Milwaukee are 12-2 against the money line in home games vs. NL teams scoring 4.8 or more runs a game and equally impressive 15-3 if they have a winning record. With the Mets 0-7 after a game where they stranded three or less runners on base this season, play Milwaukee to take this matinee.

30 DIME ROCKIES RUN LINE

Colorado is going to blast Barry Zito, and there isn’t much he can do about it. He comes in after getting shelled in Cincinnati, where the Reds tagged him for seven earned runs over three innings. And now he’s not only throwing in rarified-air Denver, but he brings a rather high 5.62 ERA along with him. And once the score gets out of hand, we’re going to see right-hander Aaron Cook take over to shut down the Rox.

Cook comes in after a solid performance against the Padres, tossing six innings and allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out three. He’s 2-0 in his last three starts – all against cupcakes – and he’s dominated in giving up just seven earned runs over 16 innings. Against this Giants team, he’s 4-1 in his last five starts, including a 2-1 mark this season. His ERA against San Francisco dating back to last season, spanning five starts, is a solid 2.75. Play the Rockies in this one, as they roll over visiting Frisco.
