Wednesday Play:

5 Dime –

ROCKIES +1 ½ RUN LINE
Take the Rockies on the run line in Game 1 of the World Series.
By now everyone who has even remotely followed baseball knows about the Rockies incredible streak. Colorado has won 21 of 22 games, including sweeps over the Phillies and Diamondbacks in the playoffs to gain entry into the World Series.
Boston used a nice run of their own to grab a spot opposite Colorado in the fall classic, coming back from a 3-to-1 deficit against Cleveland.
There’s no reason why Boston shouldn’t be a 2-1 favorite in Game 1, especially with Josh Beckett getting the start.
But the beauty of Colorado’s streak has been that they haven’t relied on one or two players to get where they are. Every game somebody has stepped up with the big hit, the big defensive play, or the big pitch.
With a revolving door of players who step up game after game, it makes it so tough on the opponent to hold them down.
Now I’m not saying Beckett isn’t going to pitch a gem, he probably will. But with the way the Rockies have been playing what makes you thing they’ll come up short now?
Jeff Francis is a solid starter who mixes his pitches well and changes speeds with the best of them. His ability to keep the Boston hitters off-balance could be the key to the Rockies winning this game.
Since the Rockies are on such a tremendous roll, I can’t see Boston blowing them out here.
Take Colorado on the run line as they give Boston everything they have in Game 1.

FREE PLAY: Proposition 1 Special vs Proposition 2 Special
Take Justin Leonard (16-1), 1/6 unit: Why not Justin Leonard again? Look at his last three tourneys: T13, P1, T6. In those 12 rounds he’s only shot in the 70s three times. Those courses were birdie courses but you still have to make them, and Leonard is. Take Tim Clark (16-1), 1/6 unit: Clark couldn’t catch Leonard last week in my head-to-head but he played well. And has been, with T5, T7 and T18 in his last three tournaments (and, like Leonard, he’s had only three rounds in the 70s out of 12). Take Daniel Chopra (40-1), 1/6 unit: Chopra hasn’t been as hot as I expected this fall, with MC, T64, T3 and T44. Chopra can bomb it so he does. Can’t blame him. But it gets him into trouble. Sometimes Mickelson-like trouble. The fairways on this course are reportedly wide (I’ve never seen it), which should help Chopra take advantage of his length.

Our complimentary selection for Wednesday, Oct 24 is:

Calgary Flames over Minnesota Wild.

Jim Feist

My free pick of the day is the game between (57) VAN Canucks and (58) DET Redwings. Take "Over". The defending western conference champion Vancouver Canucks have struggled out of the gate this season to a 4-5 mark. A lot of the problems can be directly attributed to the play of goalie Roberto Luongo. Luongo has allowed 11 goals in his last three starts between the pipes (all losses). There's no plumbing problems for the Detroit Redwings, who have jumped out to a 6-3 mark on the season. The Redwings are led by MVP candidate Henrik Zetterberg who also leads the NHL in scoring. The Red Wings are averaging a hefty 3.56 goals per game and have scored less than three goals just one time in nine games. A very high powered Detroit offense against a struggling Vancouver goalie is a recipe for an OVER!!!

Dave Cokin

My free pick of the day is the game between (53) BUF Sabres and (54) CAR Hurricane. Take "(54) CAR Hurricane". Dave has his Revenge Game of the Year going Saturday. But you don't have to wait till game day to get the play and it's FREE by calling Dave today at 1-888-389-7223!... "The Hurricanes were a monster flop last season after winning the Cup the prior campaign. But this year's Carolina entry is looking like a serious contender. They're balanced, Cam Ward has been playing great goal, and the 'Canes are really tough defensively when they get a lead. The Sabres are not as talented as they were a year ago and have struggled in the early going. I don't think the line has caught up to Carolina yet, and still see some value in playing them here as moderately priced home chalk."

Minnesota has allowed just 14 goals in 8 games this year. The Wild are 14-4 vs. a team that scored 2 or less goals in their last game and they are 36-15 their last 51 games vs. losing teams. Calgary is just 3-8 vs. a team that allowed 2 or less goals in their last game. Play On MINNESOTA +

Lightning looking for their 1st road win this season will face a struggling Caps team that has lost 4 straight after starting the season 3-0. Lightning have dominated this series of late taking 7 of the last 10 meetings. Look for TB to continue thier dominance over the Caps. Play on TB +.

Carolina Hurricanes Money Line -130 vs Buffalo @ 7 ET - Many will be enticed into taking the underdog Sabres in this match-up but that will be a mistake. This simply is not the same Buffalo team we saw last season and their struggles early this season should come as no surprise. The losses of Chris Drury and Daniel Briere in the offseason were significant to say the least! Now the Sabres find themselves in a very tough road spot here.

The Hurricanes will definitely bring their 'A game' on Wednesday as they lost to the Sabres in every single game in their match-ups last season. This season, the Canes have looked like one of the best teams in the NHL as they excelled in their recent road trip to Canada. When this veteran team brings it's best effort they are tough to beat and they certainly should be in top form tonight against the hated Sabres. The Hurricanes have a lot of offense up front and they also have seen goalie Cam Ward get off to a fantastic start this season. This is in direct contrast to a Sabres club that is seeing poor goaltending and an inconsistent offense lead to some tough times. It won't get any easier for Buffalo at the RBC Center tonight! Play Carolina on the money line kWednesday!
