2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Odds to Win – Shannon Brown Favored

The 2010 Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown (other wise known as the Slam Dunk Contest) takes place tonight at 8:30PM ET and Shannon Brown has been chosen as the favorite.

DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors, Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks, Charlotte, Gerald Wallace of the Charlotte Bobcats and Shannon Brown of the Los Angeles Lakers are the four competitors for tonight’s Slam Dunk Contest, which takes place tonight at the American Airlines Center. The event can be seen live on TNT at 8:30PM ET.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made Brown a 10/11 favorite to win this year’s contest, while Robinson is 5/2 to win and Wallace at 3/1 and DeRosan at 4/1 are the two long shots.

It’s a bite of a surprise that the Lakers’ high-flying guard is the favorite to win the Spite Slam Dunk contest, seeing as how this is his first All-Star event. But Brown clearly has the talent to excite the crowd at the American Airlines Center tonight.

Last year, Robinson beat out the Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard to win the event. The Denver Nuggets’ J.R. Smith and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Rudy Fernandez didn’t get out of the first round. Robinson also won the competition in 2006, so he represents some value at 5/2 since he’s a fan favorite. He was +350 to win last year, while Howard was –150, so he’s won as an underdog before.
