2013 Celtics vs. Cavs Picks & Predictions for January 22, 2013
By ATSSportsline.com
CLEVELAND, OH (ATS Consultants) – Will the Celtics snap their current three-game losing streak when they visit the Cavs tonight at 7:05PM ET?
ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Celtics 4-point favorites over the Cavs, while the over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 191 points. Boston is 20-20 on the year and 7-12 on the road, while Cleveland is 10-32 overall and 4-12 at home.
LINE MOVEMENT: The Cavs opened as 4.5-point underdogs but the line has been bet down a half point to 4. As for the total, it opened at 189.5 but has been bet up to 191 at most sports books.
PUBLIC BETTING: Of the wagers placed on tonight’s game, 77% of NBA public bettors currently favor the Celtics. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date public betting numbers.
NBA FREE PICK: Take Boston. According to latest NBA trends, Boston is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games and are 25-12-1 ATS in their last 38 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. Cleveland is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games, 9-27 ATS in their last 36 home games, 7-21 ATS in their last 28 home games vs. a team with a losing road record, 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points and are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days.
Expect Boston to make a few changes as they are coming off a dismal 103-88 loss to the Detroit Pistons, a defeat that leaves the Celtics firmly entrenched in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is once again headed to the draft lottery. Center Anderson Varaejo developed a blood clot after undergoing surgery for a torn leg muscle earlier this month and is out for the year. His loss is a blow to a Cleveland team that won just 10 games in the first half of the season and is coming off an uninspired 109-98 defeat at the hands of the Utah Jazz on Saturday. That loss was huge because he led the NBA in rebounds with 14.4 per game and averaged 14.1 points per game. Boston, who has had some problems against good rebounding teams, will have an edge with Varaejo out. Expect the Celtics to bounce back after a bad loss, while Cleveland will be a little down after a long and frustrating road trip
