2013 College Basketball Maryland vs. Virginia Picks & Predictions
By ATSSportsline.com

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (ATS Consultants) – A pair of teams on the March Madness bubble will square off at John Paul Jones Arena when Virginia hosts Maryland at 6:00PM ET tonight.

ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed Virginia as an 8.5-point favorite over Maryland for tonight’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 122 points. The Terps are 20-10 overall and 8-9 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers are 20-10 and 10-7 in conference play.

LINE MOVEMENT: Virginia opened as a 7.5-point favorite but the spread has been bet up to either 8 or 8.5 depending on what sports book you view. As for the total, it opened at 121 and has been bet up to 122.

PUBLIC BETTING: Of the wagers placed on tonight’s game, 51% of college basketball public bettors currently favor the Cavaliers. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date public betting numbers.

NCAA FREE PICK: Take Virginia. According to latest college basketball trends, Maryland is 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 road games and is 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. Virginia is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss, 16-4-1 ATS in their last 21 home games, 13-6 ATS in their last 19 Sunday games and is 17-8-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall.

Maryland (20-10 SU, 10-12-1 ATS) is onne of the most up-and-down teams in the country. And that's why they are barely on the bubble coming into this game after losing to North Carolina, 79-68 at home on Wednesday, giving 1. Virginia (20-10 SU, 17-9-1 ATS) sits at 10-7 in the ACC, but thanks to a low RPI, desperately need this game. It doesn't help that they lost the last two on the road to Florida State and Boston College. Neither of those teams are close to being in the NCAA Tournament. Virginia has won 16 straight at home for a reason. They play great defense and they have one of the best players in the league in Joe Harris. They have also won five straight against Maryland. The Cavaliers allow just 54.5 points per game and Maryland turns the ball over at will since they lack a true point guard.
