NBA Today - March 9
Fri, Mar 9, 2007
By Associated Press

L.A. Lakers at Philadelphia (7 p.m. EST). Kobe Bryant returns to the Lakers after serving a one-game suspension.

STARS Thursday

- Manu Ginobili, Spurs, scored 31 points to help San Antonio beat Sacramento 100-93.

- Ben Gordon, Bulls, scored 25 points in Chicago's 100-76 victory over Orlando.

STREAKING SPURS

San Antonio beat Sacramento 100-93 Thursday night for its 11th straight win. The Spurs' longest winning streak is 17 games during the 1995-96 season.

BOUNCEBACK BULLS

One night after suffering its worst defeat of the season, Chicago dominated Orlando from start to finish for a 100-76 victory Thursday night. The Bulls fell to Miami by 33 points the night before.

UNDER THE KNIFE

Los Angeles Clippers guard Shaun Livingston is scheduled to have reconstructive surgery on his left knee Tuesday in Alabama. Livingston tore parts of his anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and lateral meniscus in a victory over Charlotte on Feb. 26. The Clippers' third-year pro may be sidelined for a year or more. Orthopedic surgeon James Andrews will perform the procedure in Birmingham.

MASCOT SUIT

A man is suing the Indiana Pacers and the performer who portrays its feline mascot, alleging the performer permanently injured him when he was tackled during a free-throw shooting contest.

SPEAKING

''I think last night (in Miami) kind of woke us up. We were frustrated and disappointed with the way we played. Obviously, we had a lot more energy and purpose this time.'' - Chicago's Kirk Hinrich after the Bulls beat Orlando 100-76 the night after a 33-point loss in Miami.

Nevada guard injured, could miss rest of postseason
Thu, Mar 8, 2007
By Associated Press

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Nevada guard Kyle Shiloh suffered a hamstring injury in the second half of the No. 10 Wolf Pack's 88-56 ATS win over Idaho on Thursday and could miss the rest of the postseason.

''There's a good chance of that,'' said Nevada coach Mark Fox. ''We'll see how he feels in the morning.''

Fox said Shiloh, a three-year starter averaging 9.6 points a game, slipped on a logo sign on the court in the second half. The coach criticized the use of the promotional signs.

''Let that be a national statement for those stupid stickers they put on the court,'' Fox said. ''He's probably done for the year. Let that be a statement that if you put those stickers on the floor, you put kids at risk.''

Nevada (28-3) is a lock to make its fourth straight trip to the NCAA tournament.

''It would be a huge loss,'' Fox said. ''He's been a very good player for us.''

North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough is listed as probable (nose), but will play in today's game. He was fitted for a protective mask yesterday.
