Webber could miss Warriors' next 4 games
March 4, 2008
ATLANTA (AP) -Chris Webber missed Golden State's game against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night with a sore left knee.
Warriors coach Don Nelson said Webber, who left a win Sunday over Portland after eight minutes, plans to stay in Atlanta to rehab and could sit out the final three games of Golden State's current road trip.
Results of an MRI taken Monday in Oakland were negative.
Matt Barnes started in place of Webber, a 14th-year center-forward who is averaging 3.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in nine games. Nelson said Webber has a home in Atlanta and a trainer to help him work out.
The Warriors signed Webber to a free-agent contract on Jan. 29.
Mavs sign free agent guard Tyronn Lue
DALLAS(AP) The Dallas Mavericks signed free agent Tyronn Lue on Tuesday to be their backup point guard.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
The Sacramento Kings waived Lue on Friday. He was acquired from Atlanta on Feb. 16, but never played for the Kings. Lue averaged 6.8 points, 1.8 assists, 1.2 rebounds over 17 minutes in 33 games for the Hawks.
The Mavs are the seventh team in Lue's 10-year career. He was a backup for the Lakers when they won the NBA title in 2001.
