Monday's Top 25 NCB Betting Notes
By Covers.com

Check out our quick-hitting betting notes on all of Thursday’s ranked college basketball games:

(24) Cincinnati at (6) Syracuse (-9)

Two days removed from knocking off the No. 1 team in the country on the road, Syracuse will get another difficult test when it hosts Cincinnati. The Orange have won seven straight and have yet to fall in Big East play. The Bearcats have won three straight and are undefeated on the road. Cincinnati was one of the better scoring teams in the country during the non-conference portion of its schedule before struggling dropping three of four from Dec. 27 to Jan. 7. The Bearcats are averaging 71.3 points during the three-game winning streak but point guard Cashmere Wright, who averages over 15 points per game, is questionable with a knee injury. The Bearcats are 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.

Georgetown at (20) Notre Dame (-6.5)

The Hoyas’ up-and-down conference season continued in Saturday’s 61-58 loss to struggling South Florida – their second Big East loss by three points or less – after wins against St. John’s and Providence. Greg Whittington – Georgetown’s second-leading scorer and rebounder – has missed the last three games and is out indefinitely (academics). The Irish are the conference’s third-highest scoring team while the Hoyas are the league’s second-stingiest scoring defense. The Hoyas are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS loss.

Georgetown Hoyas vs. No. 20 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Hoyas are coming off a 61-58 loss to South Florida this past Saturday as four-point road favorites to fall to 12-4 straight-up on the year and 5-7 against the spread. They are now under .500 in conference play at 2-3 and the total has stayed UNDER in three of their last five games, Georgetown is ranked in the bottom third of Division I in scoring with an average of 64.1 points a game and it is shooting 45.8 percent from the field.

Notre Dame snapped a rare two-game losing streak with Saturday’s 69-66 victory over Rutgers but it came nowhere close to covering as an 11 ½-point home favorite. It is now 15-3 SU this season and 12-2 SU at home. The Irish are 3-4 ATS in their last seven games and 8-7 ATS overall. The total has stayed UNDER in their last four games. Despite the sketchy play over the last three games, Notre Dame is still one of the top shooting teams in the country with a field goal percentage of 50.6 percent. It is 3-1 both SU and ATS in its last three games against the Hoyas.

Cincinnati at Syracuse

Jim Boeheim's Orange (17-1, 1-4 ATS) knocking off top ranked Louisville on Saturday put their lofty perch atop the Big East standings on the line when they host Cincinnati Bearcats (16-3, 708 ATS) in an early Monday tilt on ESPN. Orange balanced as any team in the country lead by a quartet of double-digit contributors net an impressive 78.5 PPG while holding opponents to just 58.4 PPG on 35.8% shooting. Orange will be tough to topple as they've been unbeatable at the Carrier Dome posting thirty-four straight victories cashing 19 of the 29 lined games. Cincinnati unbeaten away from home (5-0 SU, 4-1 ATS) including 3-0 (2-1 ATS) in true road games vs conference opponents are a strong defensive team as well, holding opponents to just 58.2 PPG and will test Orange. But, no upset likely as Bearcats are on an 0-4 SU/ATS skid vs Orange during regular season including 0-2 SU/ATS at this extremely tough venue. The betting market has Orange 9-point favorite with the total set at 130.

College Basketball Point Spreads and Betting Guide
By: The Linemakers
Sportingnews.com

Two intriguing Big East matchups and Oklahoma State at Baylor in the Big 12 highlight Monday’s college basketball betting card.

Cincinnati (16-3 SU, 7-8 ATS) at No. 6 Syracuse (17-1 SU, 10-4 ATS), 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Line: Syracuse -9, Total: 130

The Bearcats have lost their last two visits to the Carrier Dome by an average of 19.5 points, and they could be without point guard Cashmere Wright again due to a right knee sprain. Wright averages 15.1 points and shoots 44 percent on 3-pointers.

“He is day to day. I am not making things up. If he decides to play Monday, I’m not calling Jim Boeheim and telling him,” Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin told reporters. “He could walk out (Sunday) and practice. I can tell you this, though, that if he’s not 100 percent, I’m not letting him play.”

With the early start, both teams are dealing with very short turnarounds following Saturday wins. The Orange have to come down from knocking off top-ranked Louisville on the road. Michael Carter-Williams, who scored nine of Syracuse’s last 11 points in the 70-68 victory, leads the nation with 9.3 assists per game. The Orange will look to avenge a stunning 71-68 loss to the Bearcats in last season’s Big East tournament quarterfinals.

Trends:

Cincy is 8-2 ATS in its last 10 road games.

Cincy is 1-4 ATS in its last five Big East games.

Cincy is 0-5 ATS in its last five games following a SU win.

Syracuse is 5-2 ATS in its last seven games vs. teams with .600-plus winning percentages.

Under is 9-2 in Cincinnati’s last 11 games.

Under is 15-7 in Syracuse’s last 22 home games.

Favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

Cincinnati can play away from home — Mick Cronin is 22-12 ATS in his last 34 road games. Syracuse, meanwhile, is the midst of a tough two-game stretch. Coming off a big win in Louisville on Saturday, this seems like a spot ripe for a letdown for the Orange.

Oklahoma State (12-4 SU, 8-6-1 ATS) at Baylor (12-5 SU, 5-7 ATS), 5:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Line: Baylor -4.5 Total: 132.5

“Commitment Week” worked for the Cowboys. After losing to Bedlam rival Oklahoma, coach Travis Ford began 6 a.m. practices and a series of practices focused on fundamentals. The Cowboys responded Saturday with a 79-45 win over Texas Tech, easily covering as 17.5-point faves to snap an 0-4 ATS skid. Players said they also started improving team chemistry by hanging out off the court.

“On our off day (Wednesday), everybody came over to my house and we just watched movies and talked to each other about what we need to do to get better and make each other better on the court,” sophomore swingman Le’Bryan Nash told the Stillwater NewsPress.

Baylor, meanwhile, got to rest starters in Saturday’s 107-38 win over Division III Hardin-Simmons while junior guard Brady Heslip got back on track with five 3-pointers. He had not scored in the previous two games. Senior guard Pierre Jackson leads the Big 12 with 18.6 points per game. The Bears lead the Big 12 in points allowed (57) and rebounding (39.8) in conference play.

Trends:

Oklahoma State is 2-7 ATS in its last nine road games.

Oklahoma State is 1-4 ATS in its last five Big 12 games.

Baylor is 1-6 ATS in its last seven home games.

Baylor is 0-4 ATS in its last four games following a SU win by at least 20 points.

Over is 9-2 in Oklahoma State’s last 11 road games.

Over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings.

Baylor is 6-0 ATS in the last six home meetings.

Home team is 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings.

Georgetown (12-4 SU, 5-7 ATS) at No. 20 Notre Dame (15-3 SU, 8-7 ATS), 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Line: Notre Dame -6.5, Total: 122

The Irish are on an 0-3 ATS skid (1-2 SU) since their 12-game win streak ended. During his swoon, they’ve failed to cover by a combined 35 points and have been outrebounded in every game.

The last time Notre Dame faced Georgetown, on Feb. 27, 2012, the Irish were held to 41 points and 33.3 percent shooting and outrebounded, 32-19. That’s a long way from the team’s current average of 74.6 points.

Irish senior Jack Cooley (15.1 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 1.3 bpg) will have his hands full with Georgetown sophomore Otto Porter Jr. (14.3 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.1 bpg). In Porter’s last three games, he’s averaging 20 points on 55.3 percent shooting with 9.3 rebounds.

Trends:

Georgetown is 7-0 ATS in its last seven games following an ATS loss.

Georgetown is 4-1 ATS in its last five games following a SU loss.

Notre Dame is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 Big East games.

Under is 4-0 in Notre Dame’s last four games.

Under is 4-0 in the last four meetings.

Home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

Notre Dame is 3-1-1 ATS in the last five home meetings.

The Linemakers' take: Georgetown has been very inconsistent but that is to be expected from a young team. ND has not shot the ball as well in conference as they did earlier this season. We are expecting a tough, defensive battle in this one with the game going down to the wire. The Irish have already lost to UConn, St. John's and St Joe's. Our lean is on Georgetown +6.5.

Texas (8-9 SU, 7-8 ATS) at Oklahoma (12-4 SU, 9-3 ATS), 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Line: Oklahoma -7.5, Total: 124.5

The Linemakers' take: Texas is 3-7 SU in their last 10 and are just 8-9 on the year. The problem has been their inability to score down the stretch. The Longhorns have lost five games by 5 points or less. But we're still not convinced Oklahoma is in the upper echelon of the Big 12. Texas has won six straight vs. the Sooners and 13 of the last 15. Take Texas +7.5.
