College Basketball Knowledge

Clemson is 0-2 vs top 100 teams, losing by 1-6 to South Carolina, Bama; they're 0-3 in games decided by six or less points. Tigers lost 89-83 in its only true road game, at Minnesota. Georgia is 2-3 vs top 100 teams, 2-3 in games decided by 7 or less points; they have #16 eFG% defense. ACC road underdogs are 2-3 against spread; SEC home favorites are 26-13.

Iowa State lost last game 81-79 at Northern Iowa on neutral floor, now has first true road game at Cincinnati team that is 2-2 vs top 60 teams and had solid road win at VCU Saturday. Marquette transfer Burton played 15:00 in ISU debut- they miss injured Long (hip) who is out for year. Big X road underdogs are 2-2 against spread; AAC home favorites are 20-9.

Unbeaten Xavier won 86-70 at Michigan in its only true road game; all 11 of its wins are by 9+ points. Musketeers are top 20 rebounding team in US; they force turnovers 21.3% of time (#47). Young Wake Forest won its last five games, including win over UCLA; its losses are to Richmond at home by 9, to Vandy by 22 on neutral floor. ACC underdogs are 6-11.

Unbeaten Ark-Little Rock is coached by Chris Beard, who spent decade as an assistant at Texas Tech; Trojans won at San Diego State by 6, by 4 at Tulsa in its two top 100 games. Texas Tech won seven games in a row since 10-point loss to Utah in San Juan; Red Raiders are 2-1 in games vs top 100- they have #25 eFG% defense. Sun Belt road underdogs: 14-19.

Vanderbilt made 9-14 from arc in 81-71 win over Purude LY; they're 2-3 in last five games overall, miss injured big man Kornet. Commodores are making 41.4% on arc- they're 0-3 vs to 80 teams, losing by 2-7-5 points. Purdue is 4-1 vs top 100 teams, losing to Butler Saturday for first loss of season- their 38.0% eFG% is best in country. SEC road underdogs: 9-8.

Cal has one of best freshman classes in country; they won at Wyoming in OT in only true road game. Bears are 1-2 in top 100 games, losing in Las Vegas to Richmond/San Diego State. Virginia won last eight games, with wins over West Va/Villanova in last two, by 16-11. Cavaliers are making 40.3% on arc, have #15 eFG%. Pac-12 road underdogs are 7-4 vs spread.

George Washington is 10-1, winning by 6 at South Florida in only true road game; GW beat Big East's Seton Hall by 8 at home. DePaul lost last three games, losing in OT to Northwestern last game; they're 0-4 vs top 100 teams, with other three losses by 15+. Blue Demons turn ball over 20.3% of the time. Big East home underdogs are 2-2 vs spread; A-14 road favorites are 4-4.

9-1 Kansas is making 45.8% on arc (#3); its only loss was to Michigan State by 6 on neutral floor. Jayhawks force turnovers 22.8% of the time, have three top 100 wins, by 19-7-15 points. San Diego State is struggling on offense, with losses to Grand Canyon/San Diego- they scored 50 or less points in last four losses- they're 1-3 vs top 100 teams. Aztecs turn ball over 20.9% of time, have #275 eFG%.

Northern Iowa flew to Hawai'i on Cloud 9 after handing Iowa State first loss Saturday, after they had lost two of previous three games. Panthers are 2-2 in true road games, 2-2 vs top 100- they're making 42% of 3's, are #6 eFG% in US. Hawai'i hasn't played D-I team in 20 days; they're 7-1 vs schedule #346- its best win was over #146 Nevada- their loss was by 8 at #57 Texas Tech.

St Bonaventure is 7-2 vs schedule #283; Bonnies lost by 13 at Syracuse, 6 to Hofstra, two best teams they've played- they won 77-73 at Canisius MAAC rival of Siena. Saints won seven of last nine games since opening losses at Duke/Wisconsin; Siena turns ball over 21.3% of time- their last two losses were to teams outside top 200. MAAC home teams are 7-3 vs spread in non-conference games.

Tennessee lost four of last five games, is 5-5 in Barnes' first year- they're 3-0 vs teams outside top 200, winning by 10-25-19 points. Vols are 5-0 at home, with best win over #140 Army. East Tennessee State lost by 35 at Villanova, upset Ga Tech by 1 in its only top 100 games. Buccaneers are experienced, deep but they're 1-4 since upsetting Tech in Atlanta.

South Dakota State is 4-2 in true road games, with wins at Illinois State, TCU, Minnesota, FGCU; Jackrabbits beat Weber State 85-68 at home on Nov 16, forcing 22 turnovers (+10)- they were outscored 23-14 on line. Weber is playing first D-I home game in 39 days; they lost three of last four games, winning in OT at Portland Friday. Big Sky home dogs: 6-5.

UNLV lost to Arizona State/Arizona last week; they likely have to win Mountain West tourney to make NCAAs; Rebels are 4-1 vs teams not in top 100, with three wins by 11+ points. UNLV beat South Dakota by 14 LY in Sioux Falls (not Coyotes' home court), in brickfest where teams hit 7-38 on arc. Coyotes lost by 12 at Illinois Saturday; two of their last five games went double OT, with South Dakota winning both of them.
