West Virginia Mountaineers at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-3, 125)
Riding an eight-game win streak all the way to a No. 18 national ranking, Notre Dame takes aim at a season sweep of West Virginia after rallying for a 55-51 victory in Morgantown, W.Va., on Feb. 8.
The Fighting Irish had made just two of their 18 3-point shots in the game before hitting three straight during a late 11-0 run to seize control of the contest.
Since losing star forward Tim Abromaitis to a season-ending injury in November, the red-hot Fighting Irish have found surprising success by slowing the pace of the game.
Their 61.1 possessions per contest in conference action are the second fewest among Big East teams, and they are allowing a league-best 58.7 points against conference opponents.
Eric Atkins is putting up 13 points per game and just dropped 17 points and five assists in Notre Dame’s 74-70 overtime win at Villanova.

Michigan State Spartans at Minnesota Golden Gophers (6, 128)
After a stretch in which No. 6 Michigan State dropped three of five games to end January, it has not lost since.
The Spartans, who lost those three contests on the road by a combined nine points, have rolled to five straight double-digit victories in February – including three against ranked teams – by getting back to coach Tom Izzo’s usual trademarks, rebounding and defense.
During their five-game winning streak, the Spartans are enjoying a plus-11 advantage in rebounding and holding their opponents to 34.3 percent shooting from the field.
In Sunday’s road win at Purdue, Michigan State forced the Boilermakers to miss 22 of their first 23 field-goal attempts in the second half after allowing Purdue to shoot 46.7 percent in the first half.
While Minnesota is fourth in the Big Ten in field goal percentage, the Spartans’ hard-nosed defensive approach figures to rattle the turnover-prone Golden Gophers, who commit a conference-worst 14.3 turnovers per game.

No. 4 Kansas Jayhawks vs. Texas A&M Aggies
Kansas's four-game winning streak has it tied with Missouri atop the Big 12 standings at 12-2 SU. The Jayhawks are 22-5 SU overall and 14-11-1 ATS. They beat the Aggies 64-54 at home on Jan.23, but came nowhere near covering the 19-point spread. They are 6-5-1 ATS on the road this season and the total has stayed 'under' in 11 of the 12 games. Texas A&M is just 4-10 SU in conference play and 13-13 SU overall. It has lost five of its last six games, but hung tough in a 71-62 loss to No.3 Missouri this past Saturday as a seven-point home underdog. The Aggies are 11-9 ATS overall and 6-4 ATS at home. The total has gone 6-4 in the 10 games.

Michigan State at Minnesota
Most betting shops opened Michigan State (22-5 SU, 17-7 ATS) as a six-point favorite with a total of 128. As of early this morning, a few books had moved the number to 5½ and adjusted the total to 127 ½.
Minnesota (17-10 SU, 11-12-1 ATS) is in desperate need of a victory as it has dropped three in a row to cause its RPI to dip to No. 69. The Gophers are coming off a 63-54 loss at Northwestern as 3 ½-point underdogs. In the losing effort, Julian Welch tallied 21 points, five rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.
Tubby Smith’s team is 12-4 SU and 6-6-1 ATS at home this year. The Gophers have been home underdogs twice, losing outright both times, to Wisconsin in overtime and to Ohio St. by a 78-68 count.
Michigan St. has won five in a row and seven of its last eight both SU and ATS, including Sunday’s 76-62 win at Purdue as a 4½-point road favorite. Draymond Green was the catalyst for the Spartans with 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Austin Thornton added 17 points and Branden Dawson finished with 15 points, 11 boards and a pair of blocked shots.
Michigan St. remains in the running for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. According to ESPN.com’s Joe Lunardi, the Spartans would be a top seed if the season ended today. He has the Gophers as a part of the ‘next four out.’
MSU owns a 3-3 spread record in six road ‘chalk’ situations this year.
MSU has dominated the head-to-head series in recent years, beating Minnesota in three straight and nine of the last 10 both SU and ATS. The ‘under’ has also cashed in three straight encounters and eight of the last nine.
The ‘over’ is 12-11-1 overall for Minnesota, but the ‘under’ is 7-5-1 in its home games.
The ‘over’ is 12-11-1 overall for the Spartans, 3-1 in their last four outings.
The Big Ten Network will have the telecast at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
Kansas at Texas A&M
Most books opened Kansas (22-5 SU, 14-11-1 ATS) as a nine-point favorite with a total of 123 ½. As of early this morning, a few spots had moved KU to 9½. Lucky’s had the Aggies on the money line for a plus-450 return (risk $100 to win $450).
Bill Self’s team has won four consecutive games since losing at Missouri on Feb. 4. KU blasted Texas Tech 83-50 to cover a huge 25½-point number Saturday at home. Thomas Robinson scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists. For the season, he’s averaging 17.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.
This is a classic look-ahead spot for KU, which plays at Missouri this Saturday in a game that’ll have major Big 12 ramifications. The Jayhawks have won seven straight regular-season titles.
Texas A&M (13-13 SU, 11-9 ATS) has lost seven of its last eight games in this injury-plagued campaign, but this team has covered the number at a 7-2 clip its last nine times out. Billy Kennedy’s team dropped a 71-62 decision to Missouri this past Saturday as a seven-point home underdog. Khris Middleton scored a team-high 15 points in defeat. Jordan Green finished with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.
Texas A&M has been a home underdog three times, compiling a 1-2 spread record. As for KU, it is has a 4-2 spread record in six road ‘chalk’ spots.
When these teams met at Allen Fieldhouse on Jan. 23, KU trailed at halftime before capturing a 64-54 victory as a 19-point home favorite. Robinson produced 18 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. Elston Turner had a game-high 24 points for the Aggies, who easily took the cash.
Texas A&M guard Dash Harris has missed seven straight games since injuring his foot in the loss at KU. Harris, who averages 5.8 points and 4.3 assists, might be able to return tonight. He’s listed as ‘questionable.’
The ‘under’ is 13-7 overall for the Aggies, but they have seen the ‘over’ go 6-4 in their home games.
The ‘under’ has also been a money maker for the Jayhawks, going 16-9-1 overall. The ‘under’ is an incredible 11-0-1 in their games outside of Lawrence (neutral and away).
Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2.
B.E.’s Bonus Nuggets
As of early this morning, Tennessee was listed as a seven-point home favorite vs. Ole Miss. The Volunteers own a 10-2-1 spread record in 13 lined home games.
San Diego St. is a six-point home favorite tonight against a Wyoming team that’s in dire need of a victory. The Aztecs’ Jamaal Franklin is a question mark with a sprained ankle. He averages 15.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.
New Mexico was the victim of a classic letdown spot in last night’s 71-63 loss at Colorado St. The red-hot Lobos were coming off wins at San Diego St. and vs. UNLV. The Rams hooked up money-line backers with a plus-210 payout as 5½-point home underdogs. The victory prompted Lunardi to include CSU in his ‘last four in.’
Kentucky, Michigan and Florda were great looks for halftime bets Tuesday night. Trailing 30-27 at intermission, the Gators were laying 12 points for second-half wagers. With Billy Donovan’s team minus nine adjusted, it hooked up its backers in a 63-47 home win. However, the Tigers covered the original number as 17-point underdogs.
Kentucky was down 41-28 at the break in Starkville, but the Wildcats rallied to post a 73-64 win at Mississippi St. This was a tough push for gamblers backing the Bulldogs as nine-point underdogs. UK easily cashed second-half tickets as a nine-point favorite (+4 adjusted). With four straight losses, Rick Stansbury’s team (and his job) are in trouble.
Three teams in the SEC are in ‘win-out’ mode in terms of their slim at-large hopes after crushing losses Saturday. Tennessee, Ole Miss and Arkansas came up lame in crucial resume-building contests. The Vols saw their four-game win streak snapped at Alabama, the Rebels came up short (but did cover) at Kentucky and the Razorbacks got smoked by Florida. Mike Anderson’s team had won its first 17 home games. Afterward, he told the press, “You talk about tough days at the office. That was a tough day at the office.”

Notre Dame (+6.5) outscored West Virginia 13-6 over last 2:40 as they upset Mountaineers 55-51 in Morgantown two weeks ago, in game they loed by 10 at the half. WVU is 2-5 in its last seven games, with last four losses by 6 points or less points. Notre Dame won its last eight games (7-1 vs spread); they're 3-1 as Big East favorite. Big East home favorites of 5 or less points are 11-12 against the spread.
LaSalle (+5) lost 76-70 at Temple Jan 18, outscored 18-9 on foul line, with Owls shooting 52% from floor. Explorers are 5-1 in A-14 home games, with only loss to Saint Louis, but they've lost three of their last four games overall. Temple won last 10 games (8-2 vs spread); they are 4-1 in A-14 games on road, with only loss by 11 at Richmond. Atlantic 14 home teams are 22-14-1 vs spread when number is 5 or less points.
Ole Miss lost four of its last five games, losing last two games by 26-15 points; Rebels covered three of last four as road underdog- their losses on foreign soil are by 26-1-2-10-15 points, with win at Georgia. Home favorites of 7 or less points are 13-7 against the spread in SEC games. Tennessee won/covered four of last five games; they're 6-0 vs spread at home, with wins by 11-15-11-12-19 points, with loss to Kentucky.
Buffalo (+6.5) lost 60-52 at Ohio Jan 11, turning ball over 23 times in game where they held Bobcats to 32% from floor, but Ohio grabbed 16 offensive boards. Ohio is 1-4 on MAC road, 0-5 vs spread, with only win at lowly No. Illinois- they're 3-1 as an underdog this season. MAC home favorites of 6 or less points are 8-5 against the spread. Buffalo lost its last two games after winning previous eight; they're 5-0 at home in MAC play, winning by 1-12-18-16-2 points.
Akron (-2) won 56-55 at Bowling Green Jan 11, despite making 9-18 on foul line (BG was 4-9). Zips' loss at Oral Roberts Saturday ended their 8-game win streak; they're 5-2 as MAC home favorite, winning at home by 5-9-14-30-24-15 points. MAC home favorites of 6+ points are 17-16 against the spread. Falcons won five of last six games; they're 6-1 as a MAC underdog, 4-1 on road (3-3 on road, losses by 5-5-13).
If Georgia State beats Old Dominion here, sets up a probable meeting in second round of CAA tourney. Monarchs won seven of their last nine games, covering its last four road games; they're 2-1 as CAA underdog, with road losses by 13-4 points. CAA home favorites of 5 or less points are 7-11-1 against the spread. Georgia State won five of last six games; their last three CAA home games were decided by total of six points.
South Florida is 10-4 in Big East in part because they've had the easiest conference schedule in an unbalanced league; Bulls are 1-7 against teams ranked in top 90- they're 3-3 as Big East road dog, losing away games by 11-20-30 points, scoring less than 50 points in all three losses. Syracuse is 3-4 as Big East home favorite, winning home games by 26-7-23-8-2-3-18 points. Big East double digit home favorites are 11-13-1 vs spread.
Oklahoma (+2) lost 72-65 at rival Oklahoma State Jan 9, outscored on foul line 23-13 in brickfest where Sooners shot 32% but had 21 offensive boards. Oklahoma lost its last six games; they're 0-3 as a Big X favorite, losing last three home games by 7-3-11 points. Big X home favorites of less than 5 point are 6-5 against the spread. State covered five of its last six games; they're 3-3 as road dog, losing on road by 9-41-3-15-15-18.
Illinois State (+3.5) lost 65-62 at Wichita State Jan 10, a game Shockers led by 16 at half; Redbirds won last six home games since Creighton beat them here Jan 13. ISU is 701 at home in Valley this season, 3-6 as a dog, 1-1 at home. MVC home underdogs of 7 or less points are 12-9 against the spread. Minnesota (+10.5) lost 68-52 at Michigan State Jan 25; Spartans made 52% of shots in game they led by 10 at the half. Why Duke Will Win
When you do your homework and assess your Sports Bet on this game, an appreciation of the odds is really the first and best place to start. Florida State snuck up on Duke in the first meeting of the season between these two teams. Nobody expected the Seminoles to go into Durham, North Carolina, and pull out a win inside Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke’s almost impregnable home arena. Yet, that’s exactly what the Seminoles did on a Michael Snaer three-pointer at the final buzzer. Florida State is having a terrific season, but the Seminoles lost to Boston College and Clemson in Atlantic Coast Conference competition. They experience many lulls and letdowns over the course of a 30-game slate, and they lost at home to Princeton earlier this season while also losing their other marquee non-conference contests in November and December.
It’s only in January that Florida State began to play well, and the Seminoles – who are unaccustomed to playing for ACC regular-season championships – are likely to feel the pressure of this moment far more than Duke, which has been through so many high-stakes battles over the years under Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski. It would be harder to think that Florida State could sweep Duke than to think that the Blue Devils will gain a season split. Pure odds stand in favor of Duke, not against it.
Why Florida State Will Win
The college basketball betting experts who follow the Atlantic Coast Conference are plainly aware of one very simple truth: Florida State plays up to the competition when it is facing a highly-credentialed foe, and down to the competition when it is facing a lower-tier team in the ACC. Florida State’s losses this season in the ACC have come against bottom-feeders, but the Seminoles have handled the best teams, beating both North Carolina and Duke. This game is on FSU’s home floor in Tallahassee, Florida, giving coach Leonard Hamilton’s squad yet one more occasion in which to gather its emotions and play a high-energy game in front of an amped-up home crowd. Florida State is in position to play well in this game, and it is likely to throw a strong defensive effort at the Blue Devils, a team that can easily fall into bad habits at the offensive end of the floor. Duke sometimes slips into a pattern marked by a lot of deep three-pointers within a context of one-on-one play and an unwillingness to rotate the ball around the perimeter. Duke can be impatient, and if the Blue Devils exhibit that trait, Florida State not only can, but will, take advantage.
Who Will Win
The odds will likely have the final say here. Duke will likely play a more focused, determined and airtight brand of ball. Florida State will put up a good fight, but Duke should prevail and get a split of the season series.
