College Basketball Picks & Predictions for Monday, December 20, 2010
By Anthony Rome
Durham, NC (TheSpread) - Duke head coach Mike Krzyewski is gunning for his 879th career victory on Monday when his Blue Devils host Elon at 7:00PM ET. A victory would tie him with former North Carolina coach Dean Smith for most career wins by a head coach.
According to current college basketball odds and oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Duke is a 35-point favorite over Elon on Monday. The over/under total for this game is currently 152 points.
Elon University enters Monday’s game with a 4-6 record and is 3-3 against the spread according to latest college basketball trends. They’re 0-3 on the road this year and the under has hit in two of those three games.
Duke is 10-0 to start the season and 6-3 against the spread in lined games. They’re a perfect 6-0 at home this season and 4-1 ATS. The over has hit in five of their nine overall games but it’s just 2-3 when they play at home.
College Basketball Free Pick:
Duke has been fine without starting point guard Kyrie Irving but we think their offensive output will be limited. Nolan Smith has taken over Irving’s ball-handling and distributing role and has helped the Blue Devils earn some lopsided victories of late, but again – we think tonight will be a low-scoring affair. The under is 4-0 in Elon’s last four road games and 4-0 in its last four games as a road underdog. It’s also 5-2 in its last seven games overall and 9-3 in the Duke’s last 12 versus Southern. Our pick is the under 152.
