College Basketball Preview
By Great Lakes Sports

Welcome to the start of the 2009-10 College Basketball Season. We will give you our predictions on the top five teams in College Basketball and who we believe will win the NCAA Championship. We here at Great Lakes Sports would like to wish all of you Good Luck this upcoming College Basketball Season.

1. Kansas- The Kansas Jayhawks are loaded this year, as they return all five starters from a team that went 27-8 last year. Kansas is led by a super center in Junior Cole Aldridge who averaged almost 15 points per game, pulling down 11 rebounds per game last year. The Jayhawks are also led by Senior guard in Sherron Collins who averaged 18.9ppg last season. This is one of their strongest teams in quite sometime and is our favorite to win the NCAA Championship this season.

2. Michigan State- The Michigan State Spartans, who were runners up in the nation last season, were young but have since gained a huge amount of experience. The Spartans have three starters back from a squad that went 31-7 last year but are loaded with underclassman. We here at Great Lakes Sports look for depth and athletic ability to create problems this upcoming season and we believe the Michigan State Spartans will come up short, once again, and become the number two team in the country.

3. Kentucky- Kentucky had a sub par year last year with Head Coach John Calipari going 22-14 but we believe they will make huge strides this season, as they have one of the best recruiting classes in the country. The Wildcats return four starters back from last year squad and are led by Junior Forward Patrick Patterson who averaged 17.9 ppg last year. The Wildcats got one of the best recruits in the country this season in 6 '4" freshman John Wall, who we believe is very athletic and will jump in to help Kentucky immediately. This Wildcat team is still a year away but are definitely headed in the right direction and we will take them as the third best team in the country.

4. Villanova- The Villanova Wildcats only have two starters back from last year ' s 30-8 team but they have a lot of depth and will be led by Senior guard Scottie Reynolds who averaged 15.2 ppg. The Wildcats will play that half court style offense to control the tempo of the game and, with the Wildcats tenuous defense, this will be our dark horse for this season. For now, we will tab the Villanova Wildcats the fourth best team in the country.

5. North Carolina- The number one team in the country last season was the North Carolina Tar Heels who won the National Championship last year, going an amazing 34-4 for the season. This season they lose four starters, returning only one, but North Carolina, with their rich tradition and solid recruiting, will not miss a beat. The North Carolina Tar Heels are led by Senior forward Deon Thompson who averaged 10.6 ppg last season. We believe those numbers will greatly improve this year, as he will be the go-to guy. Once again, that could put them into the NCAA Finals. We here at Great Lakes Sports believe the North Carolina Tar Heels are still a year away but, for now, we like the Tar Heels as the fifth best team in the country.
