Dukies lead MVP race

The Final Four MVP prop is out along with numerous others at BroburySports.com. Note that three of the top four players are from Duke.

Da’Sean Butler - WVU (+300)

Butler is a big game player and the emotional leader of the team. If WVU can get by Duke as 2 ½-point ‘dogs, then he’s likely the reason. One caveat is that Butler must take it to the hoop more and not settle for three-pointers.

Nolan Smith - Duke (+300)

Smith is one of the co-leaders for this prop and for good reason. He has surpassed teammates Kyle Singler and Jon Scheyer as the most dangerous offensive player. Duke (+120) is also favored to win the tournament.

Jon Scheyer - Duke (+400)

Scheyer is a gritty senior guard, who would be a sentimental choice for MVP if Duke wins the whole thing. He needs to shoot the ball great to have a chance.

Kyle Singler - Duke (+400)

Singler struggled bad last game against Baylor, and he’ll have some trouble against the WVU ‘bigs’ too. However, he has a better chance for this award than Scheyer.

Gordon Hayward - Butler (+450)

Hayward is a multi-talented player who does a lot of small things to help his team win. His 22 points against Kansas State last game was an MVP-type performance.

Shelvin Mack - Butler (+500)

Mack has played second fiddle to Hayward for much of the year, but he’s extremely dangerous offensively, especially if he gets hot from ‘three.’

Kevin Jones – WVU (+600)

Jones is another forward from West Virginia, who lives in the shadow of Butler. He must have a big game for them to get by Duke.

Durrell Summers - MSU (+800)

The two Michigan State players are the MVP long shots. Part of the reason is the team is the biggest underdog, but also because ‘Sparty’ has great overall balance. Summers had 21 points against Tennessee last game.

Raymar Morgan - MSU (+1000)

Morgan is a tough inside player, who would put up bigger numbers in a different system. However, he is the deserved long shot here.
