College Basketball Preview and Free Pick
Texas Christian visits Oklahoma State for a late tip college event that is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The broadcast will be orchestrated by ESPN and shown on the "U".
TCU Horned Frogs
The Horned Frogs don't receive their due nationally. However, much of that is self inflicted. TCU is looking to earn their second consecutive NCAA Tournament bid but before last season had not received an invite in 19-years.
Texas Christian has to travel a pair of hours north to Stillwater and conquer the hostile crowd of the Cowboys in Stillwater's also difficult venue Gallagher-Iba.
The Frogs are significantly more capable than that of OSU and are uber focused on securing their sixth conference victory of the season against a lesser Cowboys crew. TCU has the tall task of squaring off against three-ranked Big 12 squads across their final five league tilts following this pseudo Big Monday event. Those three contests against nationally ranked rivals, vs Iowa State, Texas Tech and Kansas State, all are at home. A win tonight and a 3-2 mark in their final handful of league contests will earn the Frogs an at-large big in this season's "Dance".
Oklahoma State Cowboys
The 2-10 conference record for the Cowboys is a true indicator of this team's overall talent. The savvy veteran on this squad, junior guard Thomas Dziagwa, posted career highs of 23 points and seven 3-pointers in combination with freshman Isaac Likekele's 16 points and six rebounds and still managed only 57total team points in a loss in Austin, Texas on Saturday.
Free Pick
Horned Frogs won the first meeting between these two Big 12 clubs. The final score in Fort Worth found TCU earning a 70-68 victory that only happened when JD Miller drove the length of the court in the final five seconds and converted a baseline jumper. The Frogs won despite shooting just 39 percent from the field and allowing the Cowboys to connect on nearly 50 percent of their field goal attempts and overcame OSU connecting on nearly 90 percent of their 15 shots from the charity stripe.
The Cowboys don't have a deep bench giving double digit minutes to a seven-man rotation and the young troupe is beginning to show signs of fatigue as we near March. TCU not only outlasts OSU tonight but does so by a double-digit margin.
Free Pick is a play on the TCU Horned Frogs minus the small number in Stillwater
