Bob Balfe

Miami Heat -5

The Heat are much better than 5 points against the New York Knicks and Lebron James always manages to put up 40+ points when he plays in the Garden. Look for Lebron to fuel his team to a big road win over the Knicks. Take the Heat.

Tennessee -12

Tennessee has been through so much with the suspension of their coach for the first few games in SEC play. I really think the negative energy surrounding their program allowed them to step up and turn it into something positive. Look for Tennessee to continue to roll for a while. Take the Vols.

Eric Maguire

Suns at Mavericks
Pick: Mavericks -7

The Mavs are one of the best teams in the NBA ATS, while the Suns are fourth-worst in that category. I generally think the Suns are one of the most-overrated teams around, while the Mavs are one of the more under appreciated. Dallas isn't playing its best basketball of late, dropping one to the Bucks amid its season-long, six-game homestand. I expect the Mavs to snap its two-loss streak ATS on Friday night against those overrated Suns, guaranteed. Pick: Dallas -7.

BIG AL

At 7:35 pm, our selection is on the Charlotte Bobcats + the points over Atlanta, as Charlotte falls into a terrific system of mine that's won 71% ATS since 1990. What we want to do is play on any .453 (or worse) team, as a road dog of more than 4 points, vs. an unrested .517 (or better) foe, if that foe is off an ATS loss as an underdog or a favorite of -3 points or less. Yesterday, the Hawks went into TD Banknorth Garden, and lost 102-90 to the Celtics, as 7-point dogs, while Charlotte had Thursday off. Let's fade Atlanta here vs. a Charlotte team that will be hungry to snap its seven-game road losing streak, and especially since head coach Larry Brown laid into his club, at halftime of its last game (a 33-point loss to Memphis), for its lackluster effort. Take the Bobcats.

The Duke's Sports

Tennessee (-12') for 2 Units

Volunteers are looking to re-group after sustaining loss to Oakland on Tuesday. The Volunteers were coming off a huge win against Pittsburgh three days earlier and fell into a classic letdown situation. Tonight, we'll look for the Volunteers to be energized to get back on their strong game. Tennessee' Coach Pearl likes to steal recruits from the talent rich Charlotte area and will have his men fully motivated. The Volunteers' superior talent and depth should come into play here after all, the Volunteers like to play at a frenetic pace and that won't bode well for the 49ers' depleted lineup. Injuries have reduced Charlotte's backcourt to inexperienced players who should have trouble handling the Vol's full court traps. And without leading scorer Spears (kicked off team), there are few go-to weapons to fuel the 49ers' offense. Charlotte's first year HC Major will have trouble further applying his system here in the early stages of development for the team. Charlotte is just 2-7 ATS non- conference foes and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 vs the SEC. They're also just 6-22 ATS off a SU loss and 1-4 ATS as a home dog. Tennessee the call.
