For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the "under":
The Capitals have seen the total go "under" the number in 54 of 74 this year (with one "push"), including in 30 of 38 on the road; yesterday they lost 2-0 at Ottawa.
Note that Washington has seen the total go "under" the number in 9 of 13 when playing on back to back days.
On the other side of the rink: The Habs have seen the total go "under" the number in 41 of 46 this year (with nine "pushes"); on Thursday they lost 7-0 to Boston; that was on the heels of a 2-0 loss two days earlier to Buffalo.
Note that Montreal has seen the total go "under" the number in 12 of 19 after allowing 4-goals or more in its previous contest.
Bottom line: Important to note as well that the total has gone "under" the number in five of these teams last six vs. each other overall.
The Capitals are 3-2-0 on their road trip, but just 2-2-0 following a season-high nine-game winning streak.
Semyon Varlamov is 1-0-1 with a 0.96 GAA vs. the Habs this season, and 3-0-1 with a 1.45 GAA life time in the regular season vs. the Habs.
Suffice to say, the Canadiens will be looking for a better effort on both ends of the ice, but this team has always relied on tough defensive play to create its offense; and I believe that will be the case tonight as they look for a win against one of the leagues top teams; 6* EASTERN-CONFERENCE SITUATIONAL O/U STUNNER!
